Thursday 5/2/2024 This ice cream spot has 2 permanent flavors (vanilla and chocolate) and 2-3 different custard flavors that rotate daily. The service was solid. I sampled the vanilla, chocolate, and a limited daily flavor called blueberry cheesecake. If I was ranking flavors I'd say: first blueberry cheesecake, then chocolate, and then vanilla. I ended up getting a brownie sundae $9.81 and small blueberry cheesecake cup (with a cone) $4.69. The blueberry cheesecake was good and unique but the brownie sundae dropped the ball for me. It was decent (taste wise) but the portion size was significantly smaller than what I was expecting with a near $10 price tag. I'd hope next time that they fill up the bowl a lot more instead of shorting me but it is what it is. Even though I was really disappointed with the portion for the nearly $10 sundae, this is still a solid ice cream spot that I would be open to returning to (especially if they have a cookies n cream custard flavor available). read more

Meadows has been a favorite of mine, my friends, and family for several years now. Their custard is fantastic, their yogurt is fantastic, and their mango gelati (vanilla custard and mango ice)-- so sweet but so worth it. Their flavors change every week, generally two custard flavors, one yogurt, and they always have no sugar vanilla yogurt. Of their flavors I've had, my favorites would have to be pumpkin, chocolate peanut butter, turtle, raspberry, and butter pecan. That being said, you can't really go wrong with any of them. read more

First time since I've been in Maryland that I taste real custard. Most places taste like scooped up soft serve. But the fluffernutter cup I had here had that wonderfully creamy texture and not overly sweet taste that allowed the intended flavor to shine. I was able to enjoy it sitting on a bench outside to fun oldies looking at greenery as though if I were at a farm houses' balcony with birds joining the songs. And the attendant who took my order had the most affable demeanor and joyous smile. I will most definitely be back every time I find myself in Hagerstown or even just passing through. read more

Great custard. Scooped instead of out of a machine. ? Made it kind of hard to stay in a narrow sugar cone. It also melts immediately and will be a mess on a hot day (it was on a 70 degree day!). So a cup may be better for little ones or car eating. Excellent custard though. Right off 70 just past the outlets. read more

Place is great! Custard is delicious and hard to find in these parts so it's a special treat to go and be pleased that they exist relatively nearby. Most often I get the chocolate. since it's so rich and I can't eat so much dairy it is a monthly thing but I avoid any other ice cream place because they don't match the consistency and flavor of this amazing custard! Omg!!!! Drive thru ice cream! Or better yet...Frozen Custard!!!! A great way to end a ski trip! After a day of skiing at Whitetail, we got on the road in the late afternoon. First of all, I have never been through a drive thru mom & pop ice cream class. Second of all, I have never seen so many options crammed onto the tiny menu that they had. Passing through Hagerstown on our way from VA to PA, we make it a ritual now to hop off the highway and sample the treats at Meadows. Invariably, one of the owners is behind the counter, happy to describe the special flavors of the day. The quality is unmatched, the service always fast and friendly and the booths and window counter always sparkling clean. On a nice day the benches outside are perfect. Always a treat, we plan to make this place a regular stop on our travels. There's a Sheetz gas station nearby, so you can make a pit stop there as well. What's not to like? read more

Haven't had ice cream like this good for so long! We tried their vanilla and chocolate custards and they taste soooo smooth!!! Not overly sweet as many other places but right to the spot. They use some special machines so they could freeze the custard mixtures very quickly so there is not so much air--this is the secret for the extreme smoothness. I have to say this is one of the best custards I ever had in the us: I wish they could open one in Baltimore! The portion was huge too, we two couples shared two small cups and were happy with the amount we got. Interior is comfy with a vintage style, has lots of neon lights and old news on the wall. My first time visting and I was really impressed. A cherry sundae is pretty large and features custard, whipped cream, a cherry on top and lots of crushed cherries throughout. For under $6 is was a relative bargain. The shop was very clean, music was a 50's station to add to the atmosphere and the employee was friendly. Really can't ask for more. read more

My fiance and I just had the pleasure of trying Frozen Custard for the first time last night and I couldn't be happier. The smoothest frozen treat I've had in a long LOONNNGG time. I was greeted with a smile from the girl behind the counter and thankfully she was patient with us being new to the frozen custard scene. They have a nice 50's decor inside with 50's music playing on the speakers, what a great touch. Having moved to Maryland from St. Louis, a city where custard stands are as common as crab shacks are here, I was thrilled to find this place. They are open year-round, have a convenient drive-thru, and a very cool 50's theme dining area. However, if the Meadows was in St. Louis with competition on nearly every corner, I'd have to downgrade it 3 or 4 stars. Additional toppings are expensive, and an Arctic Swirl can quickly become ridiculously overpriced. (Does a squirt of chocolate syrup or a spoonful of malt powder really need to be $0.80 each?) Besides that, I have no complaints. The service is fast and friendly, and the custard is better than any desert you'd get from Dairy Queen. read more

By my profile picture, you can tell that I've had a lot of ice cream in my lifetime. The Meadows is now in my top 5 of ice cream and custard placed. Though it is scooped, the custard sets like soft serve. I tried a small cone with birthday cake and chocolate peanut butter covered pretzel custard. It was a religious experience. To me, the birthday cake tasted like a slice of cheese cake rolled into a cool blob of ice cream. What I appreciated about the chocolate covered peanut butter custard was that they put the pretzels in at the time of serving so they don't get soggy. It's a little pricey, but you get what you paid for. read more
