Played here for the first time. Course is well maintained and in good shape. Greens are fast. Course is very dusty due to gravel cart paths. Lack of signage makes it difficult to navigate the course for first time visitors. Club house is nice but nothing to rave about. read more

Best public course in Rhode Island for the money. I'd argue Newport National is the best public course in RI, only that you'll be shelling out $150 a round for it (tourist prices). Insert Meadowbrook brook which is literally less than half that rate and nearly as good. The greens roll true and the layout is top notch. Can play normal or VERY long depending on what tees you pick as there are 4/5 to pick from. Most men play from the greens, the tips are just stupid long. This course can kick your a$$ if you let it. But you'll enjoy it because it's a beautiful, challenging cours, with nice greens. read more

Played at Meadowbrook today. It was pretty hot and the pace of play was very slow. We were stuck behind two adult males and two juveniles. They were incredibly slow, looking for lost balls, throwing clubs and general slow play. Could have used a ranger to move them along. It is a nice course and in very good condition, especially considering the lack of rain. read more

Really nice course. One of the better ones in the area. REALLY long. The blues are over 7000 and there's still another set of tees behind them! And there's a par 5 over 620... and it's not down a hill or anything. Yikes. Plays very fair for the most part. The first hole is actually Not next to the club house so that's a little wonky. (I think it's a temporary club house? But I could have that wrong...) Couple things to note: (1) there is no range. No ability to warm up except a putting and chipping green by the first tee. (2) holes 14 & 15 (and maybe 16) a borderline too narrow, esp when compared to the rest of the course. ((Granted, At this point in the round I was exhausted and there was no water on the course and no snack cart... so I was really out of gas by then)) But honestly a really beautiful place and a fair price. I'd love to play there again. read more

Sorry, I should have also shared: Others have mentioned the different tees, BUT they need an option in between the silver and green tees, for a 6000-6200 yard layout. Here are three "Blended" possibilities that are easy to remember, depending on your preferences (and skill levels): (1) Play 5-pars from greens but all others from silver (~6050 yds). (2) Play 3-pars & 5-pars from greens and 4-pars from silvers (~6180 yds). (3) Play odd holes from silvers and even holes from greens. Note: This is very close to (2) because for holes 1-13 it's all 4-pars for odd holes; the variation would be for holes 14-18 with three long 4-pars from the greens for holes 14, 16 and 18. (My buddies and I play (1) or (2) depending on how windy it is that day.) Enjoy!!! read more

Course was in great condition considering the lack of rain. If they would add grass repair boxes on the tee boxes the par 3's would look much better. Possibly add some to the carts so players could repair the fairways also. Course could so easily jump to a 4/5 star with a range also. But from what we heard from workers was the owners don't want to spend the money. We will be back read more

Narrow fairways and lush greens. Late summer great shape. Greens run true and relatively fast. Lots of sand and water. Course has 4 different tee boxes It's a beautiful course but for fook sake manage it!! Last 3 times almost 5 hours twice. And w 7:30am Thursday July round 6!! September 2015: stay away. Wow... Totally agree with my friend who plays here that this is s hidden gem. I've driven by several times and was never truly impressed with the one hole #2 you see from the road. However got to play it Sunday and loved it. Highly recommend it and will be back even though it's s hour from my home. Only weird thing is they started us off at hole #2 because it's right next to the temporary clubhouse. You play #1 last. Fair course, great shape with big green's. Enjoy! read more

I gave this 4 stars about four years ago! I come back every year we vacation in RI! It really is a four star golf course. That said im saving my 5 stars for private clubs that cost $8k a year and places like Beth Page Black, Newport National and other absolutely impeccable gems! I gave it 5 stars because for the price you pay this is the best bang for your buck that you can get! It's doubly priced my 9 hole home course and 5x nicer. Tee boxes and fairways are beautiful! There are hardly, if any, spots where you say man if they just cleaned that up a little... it's perfect. Must be a lot of hacks that play here though because it did seem like nobody repaired their ball marks on the greens, but this place is awesome! Course is long, even from their greens (whites on most course) coming in at 6500 yards, 7k from the blues, 7500 from the tips. For all that yardage though it's very hard to lose a ball and it's a fun spot to play! Love this place read more

This is currently my favorite course to play in Rhode Island. The greens are HUGE which means if you're on the green in two on a par 4 it doesn't mean you have an easy putt for birdie (or par for that matter). The course is in great shape and the back nine is where the course really shines as there are a couple of holes with some picturesque wide open areas. This course is worth your $$$. The only reason I'm not giving Meadowbrook five stars is that they still haven't broken ground on the clubhouse so they have you start your round on the second hole instead of the first (which is away from the current clubhouse) so they can monitor everyone. I totally get that and it's a good idea, but now you start off on a par-5 which is kind of annoying and the last hole you play is actually the first hole. They should just keep and improve the current clubhouse as I don't see them starting construction on a new clubhouse anytime soon. read more

I've played here several times this year and the changes that they made over the winter are going to help make the course even better. A number of trees were taken down around a couple of different greens which will allow more sunlight and airflow and will result in healthier greens. This is undoubtedly one of the nicest tracks in Rhode Island. read more

BEWARE OF THEFT. You have to park across the street to golf here and there is clearly no camera oversight. There is also pretty much nothing else on the road, so not a lot of traffic goes through. I imagine some locals just go there every weekend to do this. My laptop was stolen out of my car while I was playing. If you are in the area looking to play golf, Crystal Lake is a great alternative that has their own parking lot in which you wont run this risk. For golf, Meadow Brook was a nice course. read more

As some of the other reviews have stated this course lacks good management. It could be a phenomenal experience but it's not because of seeming lack of effort by staff. People just seem to be able to hop on a hole and cut in front of you mid-round at times. I've played here twice this year and both times there was no drinking water to be found on the course. One of those days was the busiest golf day of the year (4th of July) and it was hot and sunny. No water?? All coolers empty. Parched by 18. The course is normally in great shape which keeps you coming back but I would love to see the peripheral aspects of the golf experience much improved to keep in line with the course conditions. read more

Had a wonderful time here today - fairways are very well maintained, bunkers are in great shape, and greens are well manicured. The greens are very fast and there was not a single one that was completely flat, so you had better bring your putting game! Minor snafu when we got to the clubhouse - stupidly, I had made the tee time at Meadowbrook in NOT RI - pays to read the small print when you do a Google search - but they were very nice and fitted us in at almost the time we thought we were going to tee off. No driving range, just a putting green. We would def recommend this course, and will certainly play here next time we find ourselves in RI. read more

Immaculate condition with some truly great holes (1,2,7,10,12,13,17,18) I do believe the slope rating is a bit off. 123 from the greens seems a bit low as this is not that easy of a course, just my opinion. Just played the course and I was blown away by the great conditions!!! I have the opportunity to travel around the world and of course I play golf in many places; I would venture to say that this course rivals some of the courses in FL and AZ. I would have rated 5 stars but the pace of play was not optimal. We had a 7 minute wait on every tee box and 10 minutes on the par 3 holes. read more

I played Meadow Brook in mid August and it's in very good condition. It's an enjoyable track with interesting holes that aren't too intimidating. The front nine is a little more open than the back as far as wayward tee shots, but overall it's not too hard to find your ball with not many forced carries. Minor complaint is that they seem to need a campaign to get their guests to fix their ball marks - the greens were in good health but had a lot of dents from prior groups. The greens are absolutely enormous and many are very hilly which led to some interesting putts and chips which added a nice challenge. Excellent value for your money - as mentioned in other reviews, they still have a temporary clubhouse by the 2nd hole, which is a little underwhelming, but the folks at their temp bar and grill were very nice. I expect I'll be returning frequently during future visits to the Westerly area. read more

Played on a Sunday. Course in great shape other than the pace of play FIVE hours! Unacceptable for the price we paid. NO rangers in sight as. Threesome held us hostage on the course as they played like their was no one else there but had they looked back they had the whole course backed up! This is the fault of the management, what a way to ruin a round of golf. read more

This is one of the finer public tracts in Rhode Island, the new owners having invested significantly in what could really be a championship layout. Conditions are decent and despite being relatively busy, pace of play is reasonably brisk. I suspect they may be a little short of capital as they've had a place for the new clubhouse cleared for a couple years now, yet no construction has been initiated. The starter said something about approval for an access road but I've got to believe that's a relatively minor formality. The continued lack of a clubhouse near the first and tenth tees creates an odd routing situation, where you have to drive in front of the number two tee, which is just in front of the existing (old) clubhouse, around and back to the place where the new clubhouse is slated to be, which is also the site of a small but adequate putting green. The lack of a range is another detractor, and if they don't get these things rectified soon, they may see their potential waylaid. One of the nicer features here is the 5 sets of tees, offering significant differentiation to allow an enjoyable experience for players of all abilities. The restaurant is decent though the menu a bit restricted in terms of offerings. read more

Disappointed. Until today, I've always thought Meadowbrook was a great course. The maintenance of the course has dramatically declined. The greens were very slow and they've let the rough grow right up to the edge of the greens (only about 12" inches of apron. Same with the fairways, no first or second cut...just fairway or rough. Even the tee boxes were cut so high it was difficult to tee the ball high enough with regular tees. Now, it's like playing in a cow pasture instead of a well maintained golf course. read more

Beautifull layout.Very forgiving but hasbeen very difficult for me to play without the sky caddie not being able to be used.Because of the green sizes it sometimes can be a two club diffence in club selection. Other than that I love the course. read more
