I always enjoy going to this location. They also have a nice bar and dining area inside. Outside is a shaded seating. After the golfing is finished there is a great buffet. This park is a vast well maintained full service state park in the smallest state in the union, Rhode Island! For a small fee, we rented a gorgeous little private shaded spot with two picnic benched and real bathroom facilities. We brought out food and a small grill to cookout. They did come check our permit, which you need to reserve to grill. Dell's lemonade truck is often present, so we treated ourselves to the famous Dell's frozen lemonade-yay! We were there a good 5 or 6 hours and it was a perfectly lovely and enjoyable day for our family to relax and enjoy our rare time to reconnect in person. What an invaluable experience. I can't stress enough having uninterrupted time with those you love. Cell service is non existent, so take this time to disconnect off the grid and just live and love. This place is a true simple gift-a Beautiful way to reconnect and just feed the soul. Take my advice, do it now, while you can. Make a happy plan before life makes other plans! Beautiful, large park with many different sections. A great boardwalk by the narrow beach. A…read morewonderful place to take dogs, lots of benches to take rests, and an ample parking lot whose potholes were recently fixed, yay! Sometimes it's hard to find out what part of the park you're meant to meet someone in since there are so many sections. You can walk along the long beach or try a woodsy hiking trail. The trails on the right of the beach have either steps or a gradual slope to get up to the top of them, and you can look down over a small cliff to see the water below. The trails on the left of the gazebo are beautiful and give you many options, but people ride horses here, so be mindful of the droppings! This park has fantastic sunsets and multiple picnic areas, plus multi Porta potties that are usually in decent condition to use if needed. The bridge is great to look at, but can get crowded with families doing holiday photo shoots in the fall, so I've become wary of coming here since being stuck on one side of the bridge while a family made us wait to cross until they were done with pictures (ugh). I've come here for walks/hikes and even to wade at multiple times of year and always enjoy a beautiful day and peaceful experience here.

The range attendant gives him the mat every time and makes me wait, even when other mats are open! I've never seen anything like this. I am writing to express my disappointment with the way my friends and I were treated by the course…read moremarshal, Charlie, during our round of golf on Saturday. From the beginning, Charlie made several comments that made us uncomfortable. One of my friends had a large water bottle, and Charlie rudely asked him if it contained vodka, even though the bottle was clearly labeled. He also asked another friend, who has only been golfing a handful of times, whether he even knew how to play golf. We found these comments unnecessary and disrespectful, but we decided to let them go and continue enjoying our round. Later, Charlie approached us again and told us that we needed to play faster. We tried to explain that part of the reason we were moving slowly was because he had stopped us for an unnecessary conversation that lasted close to 10 minutes. More importantly, there was nobody behind us waiting to play at the time, so we were not holding anyone up. Despite this, Charlie continued arguing with us and repeatedly told us that the fact we had paid to play "didn't matter" because of golf etiquette. We understand that golf courses have rules regarding pace of play, and we respect those rules. However, there is a professional and respectful way to communicate with paying customers. His concern about our pace was also confusing considering that we ultimately finished two full holes ahead of the group that had been behind us. This made us feel that the repeated confrontation over our pace was unnecessary. The situation became even more disappointing when we reached hole nine and noticed two kids who appeared to have snuck onto the course to fish in the pond. I had a picture of them and attempted to show it to Charlie. He refused to even look at the picture and instead told us, "Your golf etiquette sucks. Learn how to play the game." That comment was completely unnecessary and unprofessional. We paid the required rate and were simply trying to enjoy a Saturday afternoon playing golf together. We were not looking for any problems, and we continued playing even after the earlier uncomfortable interactions. Unfortunately, Charlie's repeated comments and the way he spoke to us negatively affected our entire experience. I believe golf should be welcoming to everyone, including people who may be newer to the game. Nobody should be made to feel like they do not belong on a golf course simply because they are less experienced. Given that nobody was being held up and we ultimately finished two holes ahead of the group behind us, I do not believe the way Charlie treated us was justified. I hope management takes this complaint seriously and addresses the way we were treated so that other customers do not have a similar experience.
