In December 2025 the 45-year-old shower in the combination laundry & bathroom of our home in Palm Springs was in bad shape.  There were many gaps in the grout, dozens of the tiles were broken, bugs were coming in and out of the shower at will, and the whole thing just looked tired and slightly moldy.  When water starting leaking into our garage when the shower was on, we decided we couldn't ignore the problems any longer.   We called six different remodeling\repair companies located across the Coachella Valley to give us an estimate of what it would cost to redo the tile, fix any water damage, make sure there were no leaks from the shower pan, and get us something that looked nice.  We made it clear to the companies right from the start that cost was certainly important to us and we didn't need anything fancy if it made the project unaffordable.   All of the companies were eager to give us bids, but there were usually three problems with those estimates:  The quotes were much higher than we expected, they couldn't begin work for weeks (and in one case, months), and the list of things we would be solely responsible for (and as such outside of the quoted cost) was frighteningly long.  We knew that remodelers want the client to pay for the tile separately, but we didn't expect that we'd have to go out a find a different drywaller to fix the walls and then a different painter to finish it up.  That would mean a new round of estimates and making sure all three different companies were available to work at the right point in time.  Yuk. About to give up on the whole idea, we decided to call a seventh and final remodeler.  Miguel Nevarez from MDN Tile came out as promised, studied the problem carefully, and listened closely to our desire to get the job done at a reasonable price, completed in a reasonable time, and with minimal need for us to go find other contractors to wrap up the remodel.  He discussed various options with us and explained how certain approaches (like using larger tiles) could save money.  There would be no need to find additional contractors as his company could do anything needed (electrical, painting, drywalling, whatever) to finalize the work.  We decided right there that they were the right ones for us and two days later, MDN Tile got to work.  It was the best house repair decision I've made in years. Miguel and his crew were great.  If they said they would be coming to our house the next day at 8:00am, they showed up at 7:55am and patiently waited for the anointed time.  The work day wasn't the usual "stop by, make an appearance, and then run off to another job" experience we've had with other contractors out here in the desert.  His workers stayed the whole day, worked their tails off, and made significant and obvious progress on each visit.  This meant that when Miguel said we'd need to get the tile or the shower kit by Tuesday, we needed to pay attention and get everything on our side of the equation ready in time.  The result of that sort of full-steam-ahead approach is that we went from a pathetic shower to something really sharp looking that we showed off to our friends in 7 working days.  During the laundry shower work we quickly realized that we had someone we could trust and be confident with when doing business.  We asked Miguel to take a look at some other issues we had in the house (some broken floor tiles in the kitchen, grout problems in the guest shower, etc.) and he gave us quotes right on the spot that we happily accepted.  When there were downtimes in the shower rebuild, he or one of his team would take care of these little things that had bugged us for years.  Wonderful. Then we took a much bigger step.  Not wanting to lose the opportunity for utilizing MDN's services, my wife decided that we should do the long-delayed remodel of our master bathroom that had the goal of converting a boring early 80s layout into something modern and luxurious.  She and Miguel discussed options and came up with a plan.  In January 2026, right after the laundry shower was done, his team came in, completely tore apart about half of the space, swapped out a big (and almost never used) tub for a walk-in shower, and covered the walls with large format tiles that evoked a Zen-like jungle experience.  We also had them put in new floor tiles throughout, replace the vanity counter with a quartz top and cool-looking sinks, paint everything, etc.  The difference was stunning.  The project was a big one, but the MDN team worked hard and steadily every day to get it done as fast as reasonably possible.  As before, the total cost of the project was quite reasonable for the scope of what was done and we're very, very, very pleased with the results. We were extremely happy with our experiences with Miguel and his colleagues.  When we need more work done to our home in the future, they'll be the first (and probably the only) people we call.
