Versona - Coming back for her...

    Versona

If you are in need of some dressier, business professional clothes that are a bit more modern and…read morenot a terrible price, you need to head to Versona ASAP! (I'm mainly also speaking to females here, but if you are a male with that fashion sense then I mean hey go for it haha) I really had no idea what I was walking into the first time I went to Versona. All I knew was that I was in desperate need of some cute dress pants and just a whole outfit for a presentation that was in a few days, so I needed to find something that day. I searched the handy old internet to find some stores nearby that might have what I was looking for at more reasonable prices, and that's when Versona crossed the radar. This is an awesome store! I am far from being a fashionista or really having any trustworthy sense of fashion, but this store has some CUTE items! From tanks to long sleeves to jackets to pants, they have a great selection of different types of clothes that can all be dressed up or are just the professional look you need (or I needed at least). Because, let's be honest- especially for women, previous decades of business appropriate clothes can be UGLY. Like, so awkward fitting, looking, and just really not making you feel confident or good about yourself in any way. But Versona has that touch of modern trends in their styles where you will like how the clothes fit and look. Trust me, it's a big deal! And the best part: the prices are so in reach! Broke college kid speaking here too (rip)- I didn't feel like I was giving away part of my soul just to have some more dress clothes. Most of their pants are around $30-40! They also have at least 3 displays of jewelry, scarves, shoes, sunglasses and so, so much. Oh yeah, you can try on your picks in their dressing rooms that are open again. Hallelujah! Go check them out!

Cute shop with plenty of personnel. I counted at least 6 associates in view. Unfortunately none of…read morethem could be bothered to greet, smile or even acknowledge my presence. This is disappointing as there were at least two outfits I was interested in. Perhaps if the gal dusting the manikin's feet, or the lady running the garment steamer, maybe one of the two women behind the cash register (which no customer was at), or even one of the ladies hanging and arranging garments could have been bothered to start me a dressing room or help me find the layering pieces displayed in store ..... maybe I'd be wearing one of their cute, albeit somewhat overpriced, outfits and writing a very different review. Bottom line, if you like being ignored, this is the place for you! Zero stars from this shopper.

I was pretty impressed on my first visit, they really have a lot here. Even their shoes have some highly regarded brands like Jordan, Nike, Adidas, etc. I've found some pretty nice stuff I wear a lot and got for a ridiculously low price. Something that's also cool about Platos is you have the opportunity to donate your own clothes and they will pay you cash if they want anything. In the past at other locations this has worked fairly well for me, so I decided to try it again here after cleaning out my closet. My friend and I took almost a full bin of stuff there to try and sell. I was hoping we'd at least make maybe $30 with what we had, because we had some good brands that Platos is known for selling, like American Eagle, Loft, Victoria's Secret and more.. You check in to sell stuff all online and that went smoothly, but when we came back, they took 2 things. 2 things out of an entire bin, and gave us $7 for them. I was stunned. It seemed pretty ridiculous to me. I will probably never try to sell clothes here again because they probably won't take anything nor will I get a price that's even worth the few items they may want. Another issue is the workers. I read reviews of Platos prior to coming and so many of them complained about the workers. I tried coming in unbiased to see if maybe I'd have a different opinion, but unfortunately I did not. It's just a lot of young kids there to get a check, and they are pretty unprofessional and rude. It's all very unfortunate because the idea of Platos Closet- buying and selling cool brands second hand at really affordable prices- is such an awesome mission and I love it. But locations like this where the workers are disrespectful really bring down the name Platos has worked so hard to build. I'll probably still come back here once in a while and sift through stuff because the prices just can't be beat, but I am mightily disappointed at the overall experience every time here.

First off, know that Goodwill is a company not a charity giving items to the poor & the CEO makes…read more$600,000 or more. I learned this late. If you are donating you should consider giving to actual charities instead of "for profit" enterprises unless you have no other choice. If you do give know less than an 8th of the total profits goes to those in need. Donating is easy here just pull up, unload and go. If you need to get rid of items in a hurry or can't deal with finding just the right place for your items this place may work for you. All that said, sometimes you need to buy inexpensive or items on the fly and you check out Goodwill. We had pretty good luck shopping here at the Lakeland location for a few items. There is a main big room and a secondary smaller room and both share walls with an employee only section. The furniture is in the back room with some household stuff while the front room has clothing for all, accessories , linens, appliances, dishes, small appliances, toys, glasses, etc. They sell some new items that are close outs or extras from companies and donations from individuals. The employee only area is the heart of the operation. The donations come in a door in the drop off area on the outside right side. The stuff is loaded into bins and carried in to be sorted, priced, and later put out. You can't buy things that are newly donated till they are processed. It seems strange to not sell newly donated stuff to willing buyers but they have their protocols. The mark up here is pretty high. Some furniture was too highly priced for condition. There was a ton of linens that could have been gotten for similar prices at discount stores on sale. The selection varies as well as some things are in good condition while some are stained, broken and/or ripped. Employees are nice and friendly for the most part. We dealt with several and most were helpful. You can't blame them that they work hard and the company takes all the money. I digress. If you need things at an inexpensive price come check it out but know what the items you need are worth prior to arriving. This way you know you got a deal and avoided getting taken. Additionally, you'll know whether you need to shop at another store instead

At…read morefirst glance, it looks like you're about to hit the jackpot--but once you start browsing, it feels a bit underwhelming. From a distance the shelves look full, but up close there isn't much that stands out. Kind of a "Mona Lisa effect"--better from afar than up close. That said, the staff was friendly. One woman who worked there--short, wore glasses--was especially kind, though I didn't catch her name. The store is laid out nicely, and they had a lot of furniture available. If you're furniture shopping, this might actually be a good stop; the pieces looked decent and reasonably priced. They also appeared to use a color-tag discount system, though I'm not sure if it changes daily. About half the store was clothing, and the other half was bric-a-brac and furniture. I personally didn't find much this visit, but it could've just been an off day. I'd consider checking back in a couple of weeks to see if inventory changes. I did leave with one fun find: a vintage floating pool drink holder shaped like a rainbow, with space for ice and drinks--super cute and only $5. On the flip side, some prices felt off, like used wrapping paper priced at $3 when you can get a new roll at Dollar Tree for $1. Overall, it's worth checking out, especially for furniture, but don't go in expecting major thrifting treasures. Pretty cool that they are open on a Sunday, though. I will give them that. A medium size parking lot right in front. And a big grassy area if you have a dog that needs to go to the bathroom. Check it out? Definitely! Are there better thrift stores in Lakeland? Definitely!
