It has only taken me a good part of a decade to dine here, eventhough I live within the vicinity. A…read morefriend who frequent this place regularly thinks it serves solid food and is good value. So, tonight we agreed to have dinner here. The club resembles more of a typical pub than a club. The menu has pub favourites like schnitzels, pizzas and steak. Access to the salad and vegie bar and soups is included with a main meal. I picked a chicken parmagiana while my friend had the curry special chicken korma. Both dishes came out in a timely manner and was really nice. My schnitzel looked small, but it was tasty and filling. I also had both the soups on offer; french onion and chicken vegetable, along with the baked vegetables, so needless to say, I was comfortably full. The chicken korma was great according to my friend, but not enough of it. Due to the club extension, the price increase to food and drinks was understandable. However, I think paying over $20 for a schnitzel is steep for a community club. I do appreciate the use of chicken breast though. The only other gripe would be the cold and unseasoned chips. They do offer a three course lunch special which I am keen to come back for. They also have another dining area, which has a limited menu, but I heard is better value if you don't care about the salad and vegie bar. From the main dining room, you could watch a game being played outside thanks to the high glass windows. Final note: not bad, but not amazing. Will return because it is close and am keen to try their weeknight specials.

Been visiting weekly for a while now, great venue, decent prices and very generous meal sizes…read more Friendly staff and an overall nice vibe.

It's hard to pin down the ambiance as the areas of the Hotel differ; all in a good way. The "BAAA" is a great example of rural Australian bars: happy and inviting with live bands often playing. Meanwhile, it's eclectic and relaxed in the penny bar area, and the beer garden has a family friendly vibe. The standout for me on this visit was the dining area. It's relaxed but more restaurant than pub-like; in a good way. The service was very good, the staff friendly and prompt. But the best thing was the food. As long as you are happy to go beyond today's typical Australia pub food, and instead try some gourmet style traditional pub food. I had the slow cooked lamb shoulder with vegetables and light jus, while my partner went for the Mediterranean Chicken salad. Both were excellent, but the lamb was next level. Despite being well satisfied we could not resist the sticky date pudding. And we weee both happy we did not. Great experience all-round. The prices are higher than pub meals, but for that you get gourmet food that you will remember for a long time. Worth the little extra for sure.

However, as I have suggested, this is an awesome pub, if only because of the Colonial India theme that literally permeates the place. It is more of a restaurant than a pub, though it does have a front bar. One of the great things about this pub though is that there are lots of little rooms which you can book for your dinner party, meaning that you can dine in private. Certainly a place to check out, especially if you are looking for a place to have a dinner party (I've done it and it was great).

Watching a new outdoor area being built, that had a sign out the front saying $7.00 Curries in Mondays* in the RajaBar. How could I NOT give that a go as it's just up the road from me. I am really glad I did. There are plenty of choices from the mildest Butter Chicken up to a 'Fire in a Bowl' Fish Vindaloo (well, they were the options tonight) Although the pricing is bargain basement, the flavours and serving size is anything but. All are served with Rice, Raita and Naan (Garlic or plain). *One stipulation is that a drink must be purchased per meal. Of course there are other options from full A La Carte (with plenty of curries) and even Brazilian Churrasco spit in the Backyard Beer Garden Available Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Public holidays. 12 noon - 10pm

We ordered steak _well done, no blood_ and had to send it back 3 times. Each time it came out raw with blood running across the plate. Staff shrugged and said "steak is cooked with blood coming out, it's natural". Hygiene is non-existent - 0/10. The waitress had her fingers all over the food when she brought the plate out. After all the back-and-forth to the kitchen, we both got sick. It genuinely felt like something was done to the food. The staff stand around gossiping about customers loud enough for everyone to hear. When we raised the issues politely, we were treated like rubbish. To top it off, I received an aggressive, insulting email from the manager/owner saying we are no longer welcome, just for complaining about raw food and poor hygiene. *Food*: Undercooked, unsafe *Service*: Rude, unprofessional, gossipy *Hygiene*: Disgusting - staff touching food *Management*: Hostile and unaccountable Avoid at all costs. A great friend of mine had some going-away drinks here a few months ago and I was surprised to find a really pleasant pub - a little scruffy but in a sweet way. Whoever is in charge has done a great job making the most of the beat-up old premises with a collection of beautiful old lamps and comfy furniture. Plus the drinks are pretty cheap too. I felt something in the air - as though this place was just on the verge of becoming Adelaide's new hipster haunt. A bit of investigation of their Facebook page seems to reveal just that - an intention to draw people in with micro-brewery beers, ciders, DJ nights and live music. I haven't of much going on yet, but I'd definitely be willing to come back here - nice lighting does wonders.

Eagles Club & Bar Bistro…read more Eagles Bistro is one of those friendly contemporary pub and restaurants catering for the elderly, or the hungry like I was. The service was instant and affable, whilst ordering at the bar, one of the staff overheard my drink order and immediately snapped open a ice cold cider and handed it to me. I cheerfully sat down and waited minutes for food to come careening out the kitchen door onto my table. I gambled on this simple pub food and ordered a half-dozen oysters. Surprisingly they were vibrant and fresh, with a healthy douse Worcestershire sauce. Next came the Chicken Burger, due to my 'Burger Fiend' status. The chips were well seasoned with chicken salt which I pondered on for a while with friends as to why they had sprinkled chicken flavoured salt on, because chicken was already the main feature of the dish. However the burger was delectable and full of the usual suspects all lathered with a spicy barbeque sauce. Not bad for $16. Unfortunately the wonderful experience was dampened by a sighting of a giant pepper shaker, that wasn't even offered to me by the waiting staff. A shameful display, I'll live on...
