    Red tasting menu. All delicious

While in Lubbock, you must visit McPherson Cellars if you like wine. We are a fan in Fredericksburg at Texas Wine Collective, but very nice and bigger selection here at the source. We arrived just as they opened so got full attention of our server. We did the red wine tasting and she also let us try a few not on the menu. Wine is delicious and they have a great place to sit and relax while sipping. We got 10% off since TWC members and they had several bottles on sale that we picked up. One of my favorite wine makers!

McPherson Cellars was more modern and warehousey than your usual winery. Located downtown instead of in nature/middle of nowhere, it's a spot that offers a wide selection of wines. The sitting area in the front is small and was packed when my friends and I got there around 4pm. I asked the lady at the counter if there were other options for seating and she offered the private garage space in the backyard that was vacant at the time. It was quiet back there but no one to check up on you or ask questions so it had pros/cons. The wine we chose was a bottle of Sangiovese. It was a perfect red, not too bitter/dry and not too sweet, right in the middle which is what I requested.

OMG... I love this winery!!! Texas owned, Texas grapes, Texas wine... their Cabernet Sauvignon is to die for... but the ambiance of the place right in downtown Lubbock is a superb surprise. Their availability for private events is great, and they take care of every single detail with such good care. Every time I visit my college daughters, this is the place we can't miss on our weekend schedule, and the staff is the most knowledgeable and friendliest in town, can't wait to go back soon!!!

I had such a great time here the other day. I loved trying all of the wines and getting to try the cheeses. I am not a fan of their white wines and neither is my girlfriend. But they have a lot of great wines including the ones that have the grapes from Lubbock. Also, the wines change every week so you can come a lot and not run into the same wine. $7 for the wine tasting (per person) $3 - $5 for packaged cheese and Crackers (sold separately)

I've actually only been here twice and both were for events after normal business hours that included live music on the patio. The patio and decour are beautiful. If I had to think of complaints...the last time I was there they just had to keep bringing out chairs because there was such a huge crowd. This meant that not everyone had a table. It was also really crowded and hard to walk around. But we still had tons of fun! I've bought McPherson's wine at the grocery store before and I always really enjoyed it. Last time I was there I got a bottle of the Texas Red for $15. We got five glasses out of that bottle whereas we would've paid $4.50 per glass had we not bought the bottle. So that was a good deal. When they bring Crusty's Pizza to cook for summer patio nights MAKE SURE to try a pizza! My husband and I split a green chile chicken one for $10 and we were pretty fully and so happy we finally go to try it! I've heard that tastings are fun so I'll have to try that out soon. One star deduction for limited seating and table availability at an event. It was also kind of awkward to see a HUGE table in the middle of the patio filled with McPherson employees and friends sharing queso and chips someone brought from home and being generally loud and distracting from the music/environment. Wasn't too big of a deal but I just didn't love if.

    Yummy cheese plate

Enjoyed a nice Saturday afternoon at the winery with my mom, sister and niece. Baylee was our knowledgable, friendly host and server. We all enjoyed the wines and our tastings The cozy industrial decor and furnishings were welcoming. We enjoyed a glass of wine with a great cheese plate. The plate was so fresh and enjoyable with red and green grapes, two kinds of water crackers along with manchego (our fav) & Gouda cheeses. Super yummy! Not your typical premade winery cheese plate by any means. Purchased a couple cases of wine to share back home. Definitely would come back if in the area

This place is a little hard to find. But plenty of parking space!! It's decorated so nice and it's SO clean. I wish I had gotten more photos of everything, the place was HUGE and workers were very nice and attentive! The rooms for the groom and bride were spacious as well, if you're looking for a venue for an event, I would definitely recommend this place!

To tell the truth, I was surprised certain wedding attendees made it on time since it's so secluded. Lol. My cousin and his long time significant other finally recently got married here. It was perfect for their laidback lifestyles. The bride's mother - who is a friend of mine - and their family all enjoyed planning their event and working with the employees here. The ceremony took place outside at the gazebo. Guests found their seats on wooden benches. Soon after, the party started in the barn a short walk away... a few chandeliers, rustic interior, and beautiful decorations adorned the space. The restrooms were always very clean and tidy. The bartenders, provided by Horseshoe, were friendly and quick. Security was also provided by Horseshoe, but I was a bit taken aback by uniformed sheriff deputies. Nonetheless, no one got kicked out or arrested, not even my rowdy husband. Overall, this is a charming place for a wedding venue or a special event. Highly recommended. '18 Challenge #28

Every table is a small with four seats, which makes it harder to mingle and get to know other people. My biggest complaint is the food and service; the beef was mostly burnt chunks, the sausage was bland, the tortillas were dry, and insisting that one person serve from two meat trays for 500+ people made it take forever. They had to start the program while half the people were still in line so that the schedule for the whole night wouldn't be thrown off. They even made a big deal about forming two lines and going down both sides of the table, but Chuck had to mete out the burnt beef, weird tortillas, and nameless sausage one person at a time. Then, after serving yourself beans, corn, and potatoes, the peach cobbler was pre-portioned in servings of about three tablespoons! And it was cold. Worst "Texas BBQ" I have ever had, even compared to other event centers. Staff came through while the kids were doing awards and took plates, even though some of them had barely started eating. I will never recommend 4BarK as a location for an organizational event. Two stars because none of the staff was actively rude. P.S. The restrooms are labeled as "Stables" and are about that nice - gentlemen might as well go urinate on the barn wall out back.

I haven't returned to Mano Negra since it moved from its old location in Cactus Alley to the heart of Lubbock. Their old spot was very tight but had such an unadulterated charm that made the space feel special. The new location feels a lot more modern, but as its fanbase continues to grow, it needed more space to work with anyway. Inside, there's a huge wall of art and plenty of seating, and it feels like a place that doesn't belong in Lubbock. It feels so mid-city that it almost made me emotional. In the back lies their bar, where they serve their famed sangria, house-brewed beers, and other beverages. Their bartenders are super knowledgeable and will help you make the right choice. In the corner are a few arcade machines, including Street Fighter II, Mortal Kombat II, Defender, and Pac-Man. There are also plenty of board games to pick up as well. As for the drinks, the Sunset Sangria and their Sandia Sangria I had were both exceptional. Good sangria hits like nothing I've ever had before. Mano Negra's new spot has a great deal of outdoor seating and patio space. If the inside gets too loud or too crowded, and if there's live music like there was when I went, it can get LOUD. The outdoor space offers a quiet escape and a great conversation spot on a cool night in Lubbock. The overall vibe and energy of Mano Negra are lively. The Brazilian students playing music in the corner brought out a new level of energy to the night, and I had a blast going here. I warn that their drinks are a little strong and the energy can get a little hot, so you may find yourself three drinks deep, unable to resist getting your dance on a little bit. Have a little fun with it. RIYL: Feeling A L I V E on a Friday night

While our group was taking a short break between rounds and waiting for food and drinks, an older man aggressively approached us asking if we were using the bay we were sitting in front of. I politely explained that we were, and that the rest of our group would be right back. Instead of handling it professionally, he immediately became rude and confrontational, lecturing us about how "plenty of people would love to fill the bay" and calling us selfish for sitting there. We calmly offered to share the bay, trying to de-escalate the situation, and that's when he responded, "You're damn right I can use it , I own this place." Then his daughter chimed in trying to justify his behavior, acting equally sassy and entitled while talking down to me but trying to appear friendly asking me, "Do you see how that came off?" Honestly, no absolutely not because we were being polite and respectful the entire time until we finally felt the need to stand up for ourselves after being talked down to for no reason. The entire interaction was unnecessary, hostile, and embarrassing. Multiple people nearby were visibly shocked by how aggressive and disrespectful he was toward paying customers. We are grown adults spending money at your establishment, not children needing to be disciplined. If the owner wanted private space reserved for a graduation celebration, then reserve the bays ahead of time instead of berating customers he is the owner isn't he? There was absolutely no reason to approach us the way he did. Customer service and basic respect matter. I won't spend another dollar here, and I definitely won't support a business owner who treats people that way. I just wish I hadn't already spent almost $200 there before he ever approached us on food, drinks and balls for our group of 6.
