McPherson Cellars is a gem in the Depot area of Lubbock! You are immediately impressed when walking through the door by the wonderful architecture and interior design! The industrial-feel of the building is accented with beautiful stained concrete and fun touches like exposed A/C duct work. They also have added some beautiful furniture to enhance your tasting experience! The beauty continues in the event center with an amazing 'hand-designed' fountain and rock covered accent walls! (If I had gotten married in Lubbock I would hands down have chosen to host it there)! But maybe my favorite part would be the courtyard! The twinkle lights, fountain, furniture, and music playing make it an oasis! I wish my backyard looked like that!! But until then my friends and I love spending our 'happy hours' there! The wine is DELICIOUS!! I couldn't name just one favorite but some stand-outs are the Sparkling wine, Rose of Syrah, and the La Herencia! Kim is a master at his craft and has such a fun personality to match - If you go there I hope you get a chance to meet him too! No matter what learning the history behind him and this cellar is a one-of-a-kind experience! (Also, the prices are crazy affordable compared to the quality and what your used to seeing for wine anyways). The staff is the cherry on top! They are so friendly and knowledgeable! And you can tell they are truly passionate about Texas wines, McPherson's, and making sure you have a wonderful experience! I have visited the winery multiple times. Not only have I been to enjoy the local music for 'Patio Night' on Thursdays, but I have gone to many events at McPherson's. Overall, the wine is fantastic, the events are fun (I've been to a wedding & birthday - both great), atmosphere is relaxing, and the staff is stellar. And no, 'stellar' is not an overstatement. For the tastings, tours (the building was once a Coca-Cola bottling plant!), and general customer service, I have yet to have a unsatisfactory experience. If you are looking for a great way to spend an afternoon/evening, McPherson's serves some of the best wine in West Texas...and you can count on me being there again on Thursday. read more

Beautiful building, interior space, and courtyard. One of the only places where you can get some atmosphere in Lubbock. The wine they produce is some of the best wine in Texas. Especially the viognier for us chardonnay lovers. They also participate in the First Friday Art Trail each month which is always fun, and full of great art. We love trying local wines when we travel, and this one wasn't too fast from our hotel. They have a wine tasting ($5 per person) and you get to try 5 or 6 wines. The bottles are reasonably priced, taste really good (it was hard to pick just 2). The atmosphere was really nice and laid back, it's in the old Coca Cola bottling plant and they give tours. It was a fun way to kill some time. They also have an area with cutesy little wine related stuff if you need s gift for a wine loving friend. read more

We booked the Sagamour house & courtyard for our vow renewal/wedding. Kelli was great in the beginning but as soon as we booked & paid in full, it went downhill fast. She is scatterbrained, unorganized, unprofessional, horrible at communication, and we couldn't seem to get any straight answers. She told me email was the best way to get a hold of her but she never responded to a single one. The Sagamour house didn't come with bathrooms or a changing room. We were told we could probably use the bride's room in the main building b/c our event was earlier than the other event booked in the main room & it was a Christmas party so they didn't need it. Then we were told that we couldn't use it, then the week of, Kelli called me and said, "Don't forget you have access to the Bride's room." The day of the wedding we went to use it & it was full of boxes. Kelli told us we never told her we wanted to use it or she would have cleaned it out. We were told we could get Sangria from La Diosa and to let her know how many bottles we needed, which we did. 15 minutes before the wedding started she told me I had to get my own sangria and bring it in so we ended up not having any. We were told we could get in as early as noon. I had 2 friends there at 12:30 to set up and they waited an hour b/c nothing was ready. They set up the reception but we're constantly told the ceremony site at the courtyard wasn't ready. We were there by 2:45 to start pictures on site at 3 and were unable to take any pictures at the venue b/c nothing was ready. Kelli told us the patio furniture couldn't be moved off the patio b/c they were making wine in the storage room but they'd be done by 4. At 4:30 my husband and I start moving the patio furniture ourselves so we could set up as the ceremony started at 5. Kelli was a jerk about it. She kept telling us it was too early to set up & was making snarky remarks. At 4:40 she brings 2 tables then later 1 tablecloth. We kept asking for a 2nd one. She said I didn't order enough which is not true, & we finally got the 2nd tablecloth at 4:50. My husband, MIL, photographer, pastor, & I were setting up the ceremony site in front of our guests who had already started arriving. Some staff did move some of the furniture off the patio but the rest was stacked up and left in a pile. We originally thought we would have 30-40 people max. Kelli suggested 4 tables w/ 10 chairs each then add a 5th if needed. I told her during the planning process we had way more guests RSVP than we expected. She never expressed any concern about it. The day of, we only had 8 chairs at each table & honestly I have no idea how 10 would have fit. We planned on opening the garage door and using the driveway as well. Right before the event started Kelli told us to let her know when we were going to open the door so she could turn the heat off. We didn't know there would be no heat. We decided to leave to door closed & all stay inside. We ended up having 30 adults & 24 kids & not all stayed for the reception. At the end of the night I was charged an additional $100 for having too many guests. I was never informed of this when I told them of my final RSVP numbers. The entire night we got multiple complaints from guests about how rude Kelli was to them & their kids & how unorganized the event was. I called & spoke to Emily about the incident. She was amazing. She was there the day of our event, witnessed some of it, & was expecting this phone call. She said she had mentioned to Kelli that she thought the patio furniture was supposed to be moved and Kelli told her that I said it was fine to leave it. Not true! She said Kelli doesn't do well under stress and was frantic that day. She listened to my experience and said she would talk to Sylvia & call me back after the new year. She called me back within the hour to tell me Sylvia was appalled. They wanted to assure me that this was not how they did business & Kelli would be let go immediately. They offered me a complimentary dinner at La Diosa. A week or so later I get a vague apology email from Kelli saying she hopes her & McPherson's can make it up to me. Sylvia was copied on the email. My first thought was she was told to write the email to keep her job. Sure enough, she is still working there after we were assured she would not be any longer due to her horrible actions. She's definitely in the wrong kind of work. In all my 10+ years of working in bridal, I've never dealt with an employee as horrible as Kelli or a business who allows that. It's such a shame as the venue is eclectic & fun & the wine is amazing. Something Lubbock needs badly. But Kelli is awful to deal with. I did not get what I paid for nor did McPherson's fulfill their side of the contract & I got no compensation for it, either. I wouldn't suggest to any bride to be to have a wedding here. Not worth risking a disaster for the huge investment a wedding costs especially as long as Kelli is employeed there. read more

McPherson Cellars is definitely a local gem. The staff is unbelievably friendly and the wines are AMAZING. In my opinion this is the best wintery in town, by far. I love their blush and a number of their white wines. I would definitely suggest stopping by on one of their patio nights for a fun evening! Keep doing what you do McPherson!! read more

Let me start by saying McPherson Cellars is a beautiful venue. My daughter paid for this event for my 50th birthday. My daughter was told we could play music from a play list via her phone. Well when she tried to play music from her play list that I wanted to hear on my birthday, she and I were told, "NO". " We cannot allow you to play any music from your phones. When we asked if we could go to Pandora and play music for Pandora, "No". The bartender played her phone Pandora, but refused to go the station requested. She was deliberate in what she was doing, but I had a party to celebrate. So we listened to the music she wanted us to hear. It was not R&B or Soul. It was 90's Pop!! Absolutely no one danced the entire night. We did have a great time with family and friends despite McPherson's employee efforts to sabotage our night. My child did such a beautiful thing for me I know she was devastated. To make things worse she called to complain no one returned her calls or responded to her emails. I too complained. I felt she spent so much time and money on this venue she at least deserved an apology. No one ever apologized. If she had received and apology I might have rated this review a 3. Someone asked me recently about McPherson's, I could not recommend this venue. read more

Not just a tasting room....we took a whole tour of the winery. This place has a cool patio for sipping wine also. Staff was great and very informative. Several of the McPherson wines have won GOLD awards in San Francisco tastings! Purchased them too. Attended an annual wine festival here last year that was so fun. read more

I had my wedding there a few weeks ago. The ultra-watt lights in the bridal room made the room extremely hot- sweating while you're getting ready is not ideal. The staff turned the water on to fill up the fountain after the ceremony and forgot to turn it off- it OVERFLOWED into the floor causing a huge mess during the reception (right under the food table). Mops and loud floor cleaners during food service is also not ideal. Their sound adapter shorted out right in the middle of the father/daughter dance, and even after they switched out a second adapter, it continued to short out the entire night. They served the wrong wine at the reception. And to top it off, they have completely blamed every mishap on me and the wedding guests. Kristen was really great during the planning period. Susan Sexton (the general manager) was as UNpleasant as they come. She brought up "lawsuit" the moment I tried to recieve some resolution for their imprudence. You do not want to deal with such a nightmare during what should be the most joyful time of your life. I highly recommend looking at other venues before choosing McPherson Cellars.
