Let's start with that a haircut for most is an intimately personal experience where many details can incredibly wrong and incredibly right depending on in-going expectations, your mood, what happened to you on the drive in or earlier in the day before even getting to the salon for the cut. Luckily. I had a fantastic experience. I went to Jim who cuts my friends hair so I had an understanding what his work looks like for at least a year before I went myself. I went on a special day - Jim had just turned a milestone! Congratulations! So he has been cutting hair for decades. The consultation was considerate. He wanted to originally cut off less than what I nudged him to do. I came in with. Mid length hair, wave, hadn't been cut in a few months, about 3 inches below my shoulders that I have had since my mid 20s. I left with a shoulder length, minimally layered job that will curl a bit shorter than im used to. The entire process he kept checking in with me making sure I was okay with where we were going in the process. It was ensured that I was having a good customer experience every touchpoint of the way. Besides just getting a good haircut, Jim is a genuinely nice, pleasant, personable person who was kind of my feelings while also sharing just where he needed to. I was also lucky that all coordination went well. I had a nice conversation with the girl who shampooed me. Every girl who came to check on me was courteous. The appointment was an hour. TLDR: I tried this salon based off of multiple recommendations and the cut was way shorter than agreed on and uneven. My normal salon had over a month wait, so I tried MCN based off of multiple great recommendations because I have multiple weddings to go to this summer and wanted to look good. The salon itself is beautiful and the people were extremely nice, however, my haircut came out horribly. I'll include all the pictures below, but I showed my stylist (Kerry) photo 1 as a reference pic. We agreed that she would take about two inches off (see photo 2 for 'before' hair - this pic was taken a few months ago so it was even longer). Totally fine, great. Well when it was all said and done, she turned the chair around while styling and it was at least an inch shorter than what we agreed on and uneven. After she styled it, I mentioned the fact that it looked uneven on one side (the shorter one) to which the stylist said "it's just the way it is styled" so I took her professional opinion and said ok. I waited until I got home and styled it myself until I reached back out to the stylist via Instagram and included all the photos I'll include below. She apologized that I was dissatisfied w my hair and that she can even it out (photo 4 & 5) and teach me to style it. I responded saying that I don't want to even it out because then it'll be even shorter than it already is and I would just like a refund. The owner ended up calling me and said that if I come back in they can even it out, teach me to style it, and credit my account. I explained that it wasn't a stying issue because 1) this was how the stylist even styled it (photo 3) and 2) it was already way shorter than I was comfortable w. Ideally, I just wanted a refund. I declined to come in to have the owner teach me to style it and the credit will forever be on my account. I gave 2 stars rather than 1 because everyone I've spoken w has given this salon a good review and it could have just been the stylist I went to. I have no words for my appointment here. This is objectively the worst haircut I have ever had. I wanted to get my hair cut so I could let my hair grow out during this pandemic, as I do not want to maintain a balayage during this period. I decided to cut most of my hair with the hopes that it would be easier to maintain in this time. I asked for my hair to be cut just below my shoulders, and for layers in my hair (as my hair is really thick). When I got the cut, never mind that it was a tad bit shorter than what I had communicated, never mind that that my hair has no shape or layers to thin out my thickness... The worst part of my haircut is that the unevenness of the haircut in general! My hair is now at random lengths, the back of my hair is horribly uneven, and not to mention a whole section of my hair is much shorter than the rest of my hair!!! The very MINIMUM of a passable haircut would be to have some evenness in length! It was really sketchy when the stylist did not bother showing me the back of my head after the cut (as they normally do), and I felt that something was awry... But did not say anything at the time, which I definitely now regret. I came home to check out my hair and was incredibly upset with the cut. WORST PLACE EVER!!! Show up for an appt w/TORI and show her the Extensions I wanted her to match my hair color to-" I don't have time for that!" Without even attempting to write the wrong and get me in another day (when I never booked for half of my head in the first place). I decided to stay because I don't get to do things for myself often. Well, $195 later for nowhere near what I wanted, I get home and I have foil marks an inch below my root, blonde, to dark, to blonde streaks going down my hair, literal bleach spots, and nothing like any balayage I've ever spent half the price on to get what I asked for! LISA the manager wouldn't even listen to what I had to say because she 'already heard it from Tori' and when I said Tori didn't even try to reschedule and messed up on my hair she said 'well if you'd just come in and let me fix it already'. Why would I go there ever again?!! I asked for my money back so I could go somewhere to get what I wanted and she said "absolutely not. We don't do that". She did not care about me as a customer in any way. With thought I am updating my review. I came here several years ago then changed stylists and then came back recently. I dread going to the hair salon, any salon, more than I dread doctor or dentist visits. That, I should always say at the top of my salon reviews. The reason is that I can usually judge how a doctor or dentist visit will go within a range of options but not so with a stylist appointment. I have learned finally to not review a stylist favorably until at least 3 successful visits or one really lousy one. In this case the first visit to Kerry was quite good with color, highlights, cut, and style. So my expectations were high and guard down on the subsequent visit. But when the results were done, I just stared in the mirror. Unlike other occasions when I have been disappointed after a cut and style I did not like, I spoke up. I let her know and again at checkout. Probably in a feeble, quiet voice because I was so disappointed and surprised. And I did pay and even tip maybe because I was in shock and embarrassed. I even called and emailed the salon to express my dislike and requested a response from an owner. To her credit, one of the owners, Lisa, did call and leave a message to give me a store credit for the haircut portion of my services provided. We all know how this works. I obviously won't return to the same stylist to take my chances with tension between us and I won't return to the salon where I have tensions. I do realize stylists can't have all perfect days and I won't love every single outcome. However, my biggest gripe here is that I loved the first outcome and consultation was clearly missing from the second one. I wore my bangs side swept. She knew that. I wore them that way entering and she styled them that way the first time. She cut my bangs so short and styled straight across. Now I can't style swept to the side effectively. Plus the cut doesn't even resemble my last cut and is not evenly cut. Don't know how this happened other than I was her last customer of the day and she seemed to want to be out of there on time. read more

I went based off of reviews and everyone seemed to mention Kara (who is no longer w/ the Salon) I am sure she is doing big things. Regardless, MCN moved on the 3rd floor across from whole foods above the starbucks. Same great service just different interior. I now see Kristen for my color, she is great and knows what she is doing and isn't pushy when it comes to buying products. Well... unfortunately I will not be going back to MCN after my recent haircut. 1. I have a very simple blunt one layer bob and explicitly requested no layers. My stylist cut a lot of layers including a sloped back and top layers shorter than the bottom layer. When I asked her mid cut if she was cutting layers she denied it when it was very obvious and will now take me months to grow out what my husband called a bad soccer mom cut. 2. She rushed through the appointment, total time spent was about 40 minutes with only 10-15 of that being cutting time. 3. Small potatoes but I was billed $75 instead of the $70 listed on the website- making it a $90 cut with tip! Way too high of a price for the rushed bad service. Edit: reduced to 1 star from 2. After living with this cut for a few days it is apparent how truly choppy and rushed it was. I will have to grow it out and then go somewhere else. read more

Best haircut I've gotten in years!!! I will definitely be coming back to get my hair cut by Kristin again!!! She understood exactly what I was looking for with my haircut, I've never gotten layers before so I was a bit hesitant about them being too dramatic but she literally cut them perfectly. My hair looks the best it's looked in years. Also the whole process from arriving to leaving was very stress free, efficient, and relaxing. Let me state, this is more of a PSA, and not an attempt to bash this salon or the stylist. I am not even going to mention her by name because my purpose is not to destroy anything or anyone. There's a lot of positives here- professional stylists, it's open and airy, with windows! very important in my book to see what you look like in real life. They are animal lovers, have cool artwork, offer water, tea, and so on. I had been going to this salon over the past year and had pleasing results which is why I kept going back. So here's my PSA. Know what you want. Best thing to do would be to take along a picture of what you want. If you are not exactly sure and want the stylist to hook you up, don't be afraid to be vocal about what you do not like. Be vocal about what you do like. Stand your ground! It's your hair, your appearance, your hard earned money. You need not be bosom buds with your stylist, but there has to be a level of respect and understanding. They should be listening and not dictating. They can offer their opinion and suggestion, after all they are the professional, however YOU have the final say. Don't be afraid to ask questions! My appt. for this day, was for 11:30am, for a root and highlight touch up from a balayage I had gotten a year prior. Now before this visit, I had gone to Philip Pelusi's in MVL, 2 months prior for a root job. Why there? bc I needed it done asap. It was a Monday, when most salons in the 'burgh are closed, and they fit me in right after work. So at that visit, I asked about touching up my balayage highlights. The stylist explained, based on what I was looking for, was that all I needed were highlights on the top parts of my hair. She said I did not need a whole balayage. She explained clearly, and did not push this service on me, but rather gave me a quote and let me decide. THIS is how a professional stylist should be, respectful and responsible. Why did I not return there? For one, they're in a mall with no windows. Second, as I'd been to MCN times before, I felt comfortable going there. Back to this fateful day. I had worked with this stylist before. She wasn't particularly warm and fuzzy, but she got the job done and that's all that mattered. Also, the one I wanted wasn't available for that time. I went in at 11:15am, and left almost 4 hours later! What, how!?! *deep breath*. Root touch up, easy enough. However, for the highlights, she said that because I had balayage done prior, that was what I HAD to have done again. She did not offer other options and foolish me did not ask. Not only is this way more expensive (look at my receipt), it's more time consuming. Instead of questioning this and refusing, I went along and kept my mouth shut even though this was NOT what I wanted. While my master stylist (for those of you who don't know, they are the highest level of skill and cost the most) painted my long tresses, as part of light banter, I asked her recommendation of an Italian restaurant in the area. She quickly snipped that she could not talk and paint my hair at the same time. Uh... what?!! (head cocked to the side). You're a freakin master stylist and you can't talk and paint at the same time! At the least, tell me cordially, to give you a few minutes and after you're done painting, you can let me know. Now my spirits began sinking, as I was at the mercy of this brut stylist who was totally killing my beauty buzz. A half hour into my appt, another client sat down to my left. She happened to be getting the same exact treatments as me, by my stylist! Here we were two peas in a pod, getting simultaneous treatments! They had a long standing relationship, so the communication my stylist could not offer me, naturally did not apply to this woman. Once my highlights were on, I went to the side area to wait for the color to "take". So did my fellow pea. Difference was, I sat for hours because apparently reds take a very long time. Her, nope. She was done, got her hair blown out and styled, as I witnessed with my own eyes, and left to get on with her lovely day. I continued to painstakingly sit and wait. No idea where my stylist was most of the time. She offered water but should've given me a sandwich by that point. She didn't even wash out the color properly. I scratched off thick dye for days! I let her know how upset and I was about everything. 2 hr wait I understand, almost 4 with no blowout or styling?!! She offered no apology, but instead with a condescending smirk, said it was because of the service I requested. I informed her that she needs to let the customer know what to expect next time. I decided to leave with my hair wet. I could not bare to waste anymore precious time. Almost 4 hrs, wet hair- not $255 looking hair either, rudeness, $255 with tip (cuz I'm a sucker and can't not tip) sums up my harrowing experience. When I first started going to McN, I got my hair cut by Lauren and she did an AMAZING job. I have thick, curly hair and I went to get it all chopped off. She continued to do a fantastic job every time I went in. Not only did she always do exactly what I wanted, but she somehow made it better than I could have expected. THEN Lauren went to a different salon. At first, I didn't know where she went, so I just decided to see the woman they said took on all of Lauren's clients. I don't remember her name, but she did a TERRIBLE job. Seriously botched my hair. It was uneven and she had no clue what she was doing in terms of my curly hair. It was nothing like what I asked for. At one point, I even said "hey, can you please remove this weird part you left behind my ears?" and she said she shouldn't because it "made the haircut more feminine." Excuse me?? I know what I'm asking for, I don't care if you this makes it look more like a "woman's" haircut. Thank god I finally found where Lauren went--now I drive a half hour outside of the city to Studio Evol just to see her. So I'll give McN some stars for when Lauren was there, but I haven't had a good experience with them since she left. Lauren gets 5 stars. I continue to send my friends who get botched haircuts at McN to her. McN is not worth the money. read more

I'm not sure if I will return to MCN salon. However, the haircut I received was not the source of my disappointment and annoyance with MCN. Upon my arrival, I was offered coffee by my stylist prepared just as I pleased. I was instructed to leave my belongings in the coat room and put on a robe. In doing so, I left my coffee on the side of the counter at the front of the salon. I was quickly ushered to the back for my shampoo, condition, and Kerastase treatment. I realized I forgot my cup and went back to the front to retrieve it. As I politely ask the woman behind the desk if she saw it, she cuts me off mid sentence to inform me that she has thrown it away and gives me a sneer. As I look at her in bewilderment as to how to handle her rudeness she rolls her eyes and asks if I still want something to drink. UM, YES? That's why I'm looking for my cup now. She then instructs me that I'm not to wait for her to finish making the drink and that she will deliver it to my chair. Yeah, no. Never did that. But she did take the time to come over to my stylist, glare at me, and inform my stylist that the next client was here. Rude. I thanked my stylist for her time and pay for my cut and style. Only then did I realize that my friend should have also received a free Kerastase treatment because of MCN's birthday special. They charged her the standard, $30. Well, the woman behind the counter basically told me that she needed to see proof that the email offer existed. Why didn't I have to show some email to get the free treatment? She was basically giving my Asian friend a terribly difficult time. Between me and my friends, we have spent over $1,000 at your salon and you are going to treat loyal clients as so? I also believe that this salon desperately needs a dress code enforced for all staff. If you go to MCN, take a look around, you will agree with me. Finally, leave your pooches at home. I don't particularly like the large dog that roams around and slobers on the leg of my pants during my appointment. 1 star, but thank you to my stylist for a great cut. 5 stars for you. read more

I've always had very good experiences here, with Chauncey Johnston (my stylist) and the assistants. Been going for at least 5 years. Chauncey has great style and knows how to listen to your "vision." I had never really enjoyed chatting with stylists before her; she is authentic and fun. She is also honest and will point out the potential downsides to your plans, which I appreciate. She is great at blonde hair, and is extremely professional in terms of explaining her decision-making while contracting with you to make sure that what your request is is realistic and she can execute it to the best of her ability, and of course, the basics, like punctuality and thoughtfulness. My hair is in great shape thanks to her; in the past (at other places) I've had experiences with stylists who go a little overboard with the dying and damage the hair. Check out her Instagram for adorable dog pics (is that dog even real??) and to see what she's capable of, hair-wise. She truly has a great eye! The salon itself is clean and modern with lots of light, fresh tea, and kind front desk people. Well located for that Starbucks downstairs, and you can get lunch at Whole Foods on the same plaza, or Choolah nearby, before your appointment. If you wear a headscarf I've been told it's possible to make appointments for Sundays, and schedule you outside of times when men are working/in the area. Overall, I'm a happy clam with great hair thanks to Chauncey. Edit: I've never had Brent for any hair-related help, but he just brightens up my day every time I see him about! read more

Ok so after coming here since March I finally feel ready to review. I started coming to MCN after I had my hair colored and cut by someone who absolutely destroyed my hair. I had asked for an ombré and ended up with a poop brown and bleach blonde wreck. The next morning I called MCN praying they could fit me on for a corrective color. They got me in with Leslee that afternoon. I have linked some pictures but I don't know if they do her work justice. I went from having patches of bleached hair to the long ombré that I'd hoped for. Leslee spent hours on my hair color. It involved dying the roots the correct color, bleaching my end pieces blonde, and then toning the blonde from crazy yellow bleached to golden. She took my hacked long layers and blended them while leaving as much length as possible. I was already overwhelmed with the change in color I was so glad she was able to salvage my length. I left that day with the hair cut and color I wanted in the first place and I was so so grateful! I've been going to Leslee since and I think she does an amazing job. Last time I saw her I ended up ditching the ombré and going to a "fall" color. I wanted deeper brown with red. It's literally exactly what I asked for. I've also gotten an up-do for an event. I've never gotten so many compliments. And my long, heavy, thick hair stayed up all night. I've never had an up-do last as well. The salon is beautiful. The staff is helpful. And Leslee is the best! I highly recommend MCN and Leslee. 2 co-workers of mine now go to her and they are both very happy as well! read more

I got a haircut from Jim, who is one of the salon's owners - he was so warm and friendly and gave me exactly the cut I was looking for. He talked me through options for hair like mine and made sure to explain how the style would look different on me vs. the thicker-haired model I showed him - but in the end, it still looks just like the picture! They have a big, very sweet dog, a clean and beautiful store, and other staff seemed friendly as well. read more

I lived in Pittsburgh for 5 years and went to MCN Salon for all of my haircuts. I had a few stylists over the five years (some left) and loved Sara. She did a fabulous job on my hair and was fun to talk to. She was my go-to stylist for a while. My only complaint (and I say this jokingly) is she got married the same weekend I did - so she couldn't do my hair the day of my wedding! But, she gave me a fabulous recommendation and I had Nicolette do my hair on my wedding day. Heather did my sister-in-law and Lacey took care of my mom. All of us walked out with gorgeous hair (mine was the best, of course.) I always enjoyed the salon, the owners and Josie (the dog.) The salon was clean, friendly and moderately priced. This salon was top notch from start to finish. When you walk in you're greeted with a friendly smile and a helpful staff. The salon was clean, it smelled nice, it was bright and cheerful atmosphere... everything you could want. I was even given a nice hot cup of coffee! I followed my stylist, Chauncey, and am so pleased with this salon. I never have any problems booking my appointments. I also get both a text and voice reminder for my appointments. My schedule gets really busy so I appreciate this. The salon is very well lite with huge windows all the way around the salon. Everyone who works there has been professional and pleasant. I really love that they offer you coffee, tea or water when you arrive and they always have a cookies available to snack on. One of the best things there is probably... the dog! There is a big shop dog there who is just so sweet. But of course, my favorite part of MCN is my stylist Chauncey. I always look forward to seeing her and she's really learned my style and the things I like. I ask her for input and she doesn't hesitate to give me feedback on what will and won't look good. I've been seeing her for almost three years and I've never gotten a bad haircut. I, too, decided on MCN based on Yelp reviews after moving to Pittsburgh. Unfortunately, I did not have the great experience others did. I ended up getting probably the worst haircut I'd had in 10 years. It ended up a good 4 inches shorter than I discussed with the stylist. In addition, she took the fact that I work in a professional office to mean that I wanted an ugly, boring, mom-ish haircut. It's taken almost a year to grow back to the length it was before. I admittedly should have complained then and there, but I'm a wuss. Additionally, the experience at the salon left much to be desired. I went in the late morning on a weekday. There was a little girl there (around 3 or 4) with her nanny. Apparently her mom was a regular customer. The little girl was getting a haircut and she cried and screamed for 25 minutes. I know kids will be kids, and I don't blame the little girl for being scared or cranky. I do blame the salon for not finding a way for the girl not to disrupt the entire salon - taking her to a back room, taking her outside to calm down, not allowing children in an adult, supposedly high-end salon, etc. Something that was supposed to be a treat for me turned into a headache. I will not be back here, but it seems like others had great experiences. read more

Go here! Is it pricey for Pittsburgh? If we're comparing to "Great Clips" or the local Barbershop, then definitely. Why? Because things worth having usually aren't cheap. I found out today that a haircut at MCM is worth every cent. To begin, I found out a few days ago that I will be interviewing for a new job tomorrow. I immediately started calling around trying to book a last minute appointment. I called Pageboy, and was told that they are all booked for the next few days. No "We can call you if someone cancels" or anything remotely helpful. Ok, whatever. Then, I waited for Luxx to be open today, only to go down during business hours and find their boutique/salon closed. Ugh. Frustration set in. So, I logged into Yelp and started reading salon reviews. MCN has some great reviews. I realized that I'd seen MCN while at Wholefoods, and was always intrigued by the trendy-looking 3rd floor location. I called and was immediately given two appointment options for today... so off I went. Upon entering I was greeted by the receptionist who offered me a variety of beverages. Right off the bat I began talking to a man, Jim, who I found out is the owner. He was so genuine, and we had a nice chitchat. Then, off to get my hair done by Margeaux. Super friendly girl with hair I kind of wanted to rip out and put on my own head (but not really b/c that would be psycho scary). She gave me a killer scalp massage that temporarily made me catatonic. Then off to the chair. We quickly talked about what I wanted. I'm pretty laid back, told her about my interview, and said "just use your judgement". I have thin, curly hair, and I'm plus sized which basically equals 3 challenges. Margeaux took off some length, gave me some layers, and basically made my curls perk up for the first time in almost a year. We talked, she cut, and before I knew it we were done. On my way out, the receptionist gave me a deluxe product sample. Score! On such short notice and for the price of $45 (minus tip), I couldn't be more satisfied! If I get the job, it'll definitely be in part to Margeaux and the staff at MCN! read more

My stylist, Lacy, moved here from another salon, and I followed her. She's great, and I wasn't about to give up on her just because she moved to a nicer salon that happens to be substantially cheaper than the old place. For a review of Lacy, please see my review of L'Azur Salon. The salon itself is really nice - they have a fantastic view, and lots of nice touches. You can have coffee or tea (and cookies), and they have a nice locker system so you don't have to lug your purse to and from the styling stations. Everything seems really clean and open, and the clientele seem younger and hipper than some of the other salons I've been to. Add the bulldog that roams around, and you've got a super great experience. They only do hair, and a tip for the new - take the elevator to get into the salon. I like walking, and took the stairs, which actually does not lead into the salon. They use Bumble and bumble products, but are not super pushy about it. The receptionist could use a little bit of an attitude adjustment - I swear she sighed and rolled her eyes at me when I said I didn't want my receipt. read more

*UPDATE* I called the salon to see how they could make it right. Once again, they were not prompt. I was asked to arrive at 4:15 As the owner had a 4:30 apt with a painter. I arrived on time and it wasnt until 4:25 until she came out. When I did talk to her, instead of trying to help she started verbally assaulting me. In addition to saying many disgraceful things about me, she also started to pull unnecessarily hard with the brush while attempting to restyle my hair to the point where I excused myself in the middle of the restyle because of the pain. Please do not patronize this business. *Original Review* I don't get my hair cut often since I grow it out to donate, but when I do, I know exactly what I want since I get a similar cut every time. I came to MCN because my previous stylist is in Boston, and I had a discount card. My stylist (Jess Leigh) was nice, but I feel didnt give me the cut I asked for. I tried having her modify before I left, but things were starting to get worst instead of better so I just has her stop. This disappointed me greatly as not only did I have a conversation with my stylist, but also with the manager before even booking an appointment. I was told my stylist had been cutting hair for years and that I was in good hands. The cut is okay but it wasnt what I asked for. Instead of leaving there feeling confident and sexy, I'm just glad I can still *almost* pull my hair back all the way to make it look better from a front profile. Next time, I plan on paying for a flight to Boston to get a cut I love. I wish it wasn't that difficult. The salon itself also disappointed me. I was there 5 minutes early and wasnt even acknowledged until 7 minutes past my apt time. I made sure to have the first apt of the day so that there wouldn't be delays. In addition, they offered me tea, coffee, or water. However it wasnt until half way through my appointment that I got it. The staff wasnt overly welcoming either which surprised me even more since I was a new client. Maybe I'm spoiled having such amazing salon experiences in Boston. However, this experience would be ranked 2 or 3 out of 10 in comparison to my previous Salon. read more

Today, I definitely didn't have a great experience at MCN. I got my haircut couple months ago from there and I liked it, so I decided to go again for coloring today. I wasn't happy about it at all -cuz I can still see the line btw my root and the bottom. PLUS, they charged me 25 bucks more for the blow-dry without telling me. Being new to the city, I went into panic about finding a new hair stylist. SF and Boston have plenty of reviews to choose from but Pittsburgh didn't have many, let alone stellar reviews on salons. At the time I colored my hair so I didn't want to let just anyone put foils and scissors near my head. Finding a new hairstylist is like a game of russian roulette to me. I can either be safe or be really screwed for a few weeks. MCN was really the only salon ranked high in a search in my neighborhood so I gambled and scheduled an appointment with Sara. The salon is located near a Whole Foods, Starbucks, Walgreens and what use to be a Borders. It is clean, spacious and open with nice views overlooking the city. Sara did a great job and continues to do so (I'm loyal like that). She consults me first and doesn't deviate from what we agree upon. Her demeanor is professional and friendly. While I was waiting for my color to process, MCN has some outlets for you to plug in your computer to pass the time. Reasonably priced and another nice thing is that MCN occasionally will give free goodies as a thank you or for the holidays. While certainly the do is most important, the little things count as well. I will say though that they do seem a little pushy with product and the product may not even be the best one for your hair. I know salons can make a great profit off of product from the show Tabitha's Salon but this can ruin your experience at MCN after an awesome haircut/color treatment. read more

I have finally found a salon and a stylist I can commit to!!!!!!!!!! I am so happy! I had been wanting to try MCN for quite some time, and I pass the salon almost every day so on a whim I finally just called and made a same day appointment for a womens cut. I said I did not have a preference as to which "level" my stylist was, and they were able to fit me in with Margeaux. If you can, book an appointment with her! She should be Marg-WHOA--bc my hair looked FANTASTIC after we were done! And trust me, my hair never looks fantastic. I was greeted warmly when I arrived and offered a beverage. There was an adorable bull dog in the salon, and the dog ALSO greeted me. I loved it! So cute and wrinkly... Margeaux was warm and friendly and I felt comfortable talking to her about how i wanted my hair to look. I believe I told her, "I want my hair to look not like this," (pointing at my current hair). My hair was limp and I'd dyed it black for the past 3 years. I needed a change. I was kind of shocked when Margeaux told me she could get the black dye out of my hair bc stylists have told me that before, and it was a disaster every time. There is a huge difference between what you get in a low end salon and a high end salon. Margeaux explained the process to me, the science behind why it would work, brought me magazines, and spent the next hour or so foiling my hair. Its always kind of awkward when you meet someone for time and have to have small talk---I really enjoyed having Margeaux work on my hair. I just LIKED her, she was easy to talk to and it wasnt that awkward, "What do you do? Where do you live?" conversation you typically have with a hairdresser for the first time. We just had a normal conversation and as I said before, I had a really good time. All of the stylists there were extremely nice. Kara came over and asked me how I was doing a few times, and several stylists stopped over to check on my transformation throughout the process. Everyone was so nice I'd feel comfortable in any of their chairs. My quick haircut ended up being a 4 hour appointment. It takes a lot of time to get a lot of black dye out of your hair. SHE SERIOUSLY GOT THE DYE OUT OF MY HAIR. Seriously...whoa! I have a new hair color, and she gave me a fantastic cut. I cannot more highly recommend her. I loved my hair and I have never left a salon loving my ahir before, I always leave thinking, "It will look cute when it grows out a little bit and I style it myself." We are talking hair miracle. I cut 5 inches off my hair and left without scissor shock. Ok, maybe a little, I had a major transformation, but I love it. I had mentioned I want hair i dont have to style every day and Margeaux said she could do that. She wasn't kidding. Even my freaking BED HEAD looks adorable. BED HEAD. yeah. worth the price at any cost. This is not the cheapest salon but if you need a major change like I did, it is worth it to spend the money. My cut and extreme color work came to $240 but I dont think this is typical, you have to keep in mind I came in with jet black hair that had ot be stripped, toned, corrected, and now I've got medium auburn hair. So it probably costs a bit less if you're not having a complete hair color over haul. I highly recommend this place and cannot more strongly recommend Margeaux! read more

I was a regular at this salon and I liked my stylist very much. I still like her but I had to look for a different salon because I cannot handle the brushes full of hair that are never cleaned. But this is a review about my last experience. I made a booking to get my hair styled for a party. I got an 8:00 am appointment (which I can only assume was the first appointment of the day). I got there and the stylist was ready to start the styling on my hair that wasn't washed for 3 days :-0. Who does that ? What hair stylist are you if you cannot recognize what hair needs a wash ? I told her I need to have it washed and then it started the rush. Fast washing, fast drying, fast styling and fast out the door. I wouldn't complain if the style would have been achieved. But first, she hurt me during the drying step because she had long nails and it felt she stabs me every time she was lifting the hair to dry. Then she straighten the hair and I requested to have large curls. She did something and she was keep saying that I can pull them down later because now they will look too tight but in time they will get loose. When she finished I could hardly see any curs so I told her that. She took a different tool and she added couple more, smaller size curls. The result, by 12:00 I had only one curl left and I had to style it myself home. After I payed $75 there. I also told her that I want to have the hair from the side pulled back so I don't have it in my face all day long. She decided on the easiest, most boring twist that I could have easily achieve it myself. The only two good things: they way she arrange my hair piece and the product used to absorb the oil. read more

For something as important as a good haircut, its hard to know how to find a good salon. Well this is not only a good salon, it's great! You will pay for what you get, so don't expect low prices like those that you might find in the burbs. Kerastase and Bumble products make my hair very "Pantene-esque". Sara is creative, amazing with color, and really creates a cut that fits your lifestyle and your personality. Very friendly front desk staff, clean facility...there's really nothing bad to say! I'd recommend it and give it 6 stars if I could :) read more

If you are looking for a great stylist that really knows how to cut mens hair, then make sure to ask for Brent. Plus, he's a master colorist. Several of my friends have gotten their hair colored by him. They looked like a million bucks afterward. He's awesome! So engaging and friendly. The salon is beautiful and convenient with Whole Foods being next door. The only challenge is if you are new to the salon. It's on the top floor above Starbucks and can be a little hard to find. You will need to take the elevator to get there. But once you are in the space, the views are spectacular! read more

I booked an appointment through yelp, but when I reached mcn, they did not have my appointment in their system , so they said "sorry , we can call you if something opens up". Really? Need to honor client appointments, not my problem if your yelp booking system works or does not work. Such a waste of time and rude.
