As the child of an aging parent living five hours away, it can be challenging and stressful to manage projects for my Mom's home. After my first conversation with Scott, I was confident Vista would treat her fairly, and complete the project on-budget and on time! My mom spoke very highly of the entire crew, and it turns out one of the workers knew my father before he passed and got to make that cool connection with my mother. :) In an age where half of the contractors you find online are from way out of town, or even out of state, I highly recommend working with this truly local business, and keeping your dollars in our community. Thanks again, Scott and the Vista crew!

Now I have had the opportunity to have them do some work for me and I am also very impressed. They have a gutter cleaning/repair/maintenance team. Our home was built 28 years ago and after trying to seal the corners and joints for years, I finally decided to have it done professionally. I am also almost 70 and did not want to clean the gutters anymore. They added two downspouts where there were low spots and where I noticed overflowing with the heavy rains. They also found one area where the original gutters were not installed properly which has caused rot. I am SO happy I hired them to work for me. With them discovering the improperly installed gutter, I will be able to get it repaired at a minimal cost instead of a major one. If you want work done and you want it done right, call Alves. Professional, detail oriented, friendly, and thorough are words that describe the entire Curb Appeal crew. We look forward to having them out to complete our future projects. The space went from ugly and outdated to modern and beautiful thanks to their hard work and careful attention to details. Blaine Jr. took the time to thoroughly understand our long term project needs, in addition to the basement renovation we were focused on last year. Once under contract, he was always responsive and on top of things as we got ready to start the project and once it was underway. Blaine Sr. was always friendly, helpful, and professional, as were the rest of the crew. We plan to have Curb Appeal continue to be our contractor of choice for virtually any home improvement project that is too big to handle ourselves. The fact that all of the above is true despite the project occuring during the first part of the Covid nightmare only solidifies my opinion. This crew is rock solid.

I waited years to post this review to see if I would feel better about it. I do not. Blaine Jr comes through and does a long winded presentation that makes you feel like the company will be professional. I needed my sunroom roof redone since it was leaking. In actuality, the whole sunroom probably needed to be replaced. The sunroom was switched from glass to plastic per my request. He told me during our long meeting that I would be able to discuss it more when the crew came in. I came home and they had already started and no discussion was had with me about anything. I figured they knew what they were doing so I just went with it. The next day I came home and there was double the amount of support beams that blocked out a good amount of sun. I found this odd as the plastic is significantly lighter than the glass that was previously there. I feel like he forgot he was using plastic and planned it for the glass. I paid for more wood that wasn't needed and the sunroom does not look as good with all the extra beams. It also started to leak within a couple months again and the crew had to come back out and fix it. They changed it up a little and added weather strip that looks forever to come in. I'm a few years out now and the sunroom is leaking again and every time I look at how many beams there are up there I'm upset again about the whole thing. I should have waited and replaced the entire sunroom and gone with someone else. On top of it, I felt like Blaine Jr was dismissive, condescending, and kind of a know it all. I had to request to not speak to him anymore and did all ongoing discussions with the lead instead. On a side note... the crew was very nice and did their best.

We thought we knew that the problem was a vent flashing that was leaking but my husband had just had a heart attack and there was no way he could get up on our tall 2 story home to fix it. . Within 24 hours there was an employee on our roof who found the leak at the vent and repaired it and redid the other roof vents around it as well. They installed new ridge vents in my roof when they put on my new metal roof and the ridge vents were supposed to solely rely on adequate soffit ventilation which they did not install. When we finally noticed my attic plywood was saturated, wet and had mildew on it we called them and they sent a guy out to look at it and when he climbed in the attic noticed that there was old insulation pushed up against the baffling area which they didn't check at the time of installation of the roof because they said they didn't get in our attic. They told me at that point that they dont do ventilation and i should have had a contractor do that but obviously they do if they installed and cut in ridge vents/ventilation in my attic. Long story short I called my insurance which flew in an engineer from Arizona to look at it which said it was due to improper soffit ventilation and the gable end vents were also supposed to be blocked so the ridge vents empire installed could solely rely on the soffit air flow which empire didn't install. The Better Business Bureau came to the same conclusion when they came and looked at it and in the end right before we were going to go to arbitration redwood empire realized they were going to lose the case so Redwood Empire Roofing settled to pay us to have someone else fix the damage they created. A situation which ultimately cost them as much to fix as we paid them to install the metal roof in the first place. Avoid this company at all costs. They truly will try and make your life hell if you end up having a warranty issue with their workmanship. I should add a whole bunch of photos on here but I'll save everyone the visual embarrassment of such a shitty job done by this fly by night company.
