It is covid - not the only contractor complaining of lack of availability of skilled workers. I enjoyed meeting the crew members and all their hard work. They were easy to work with. One equipment operator damaged a new septic tank access box that had recently been installed. But that was quickly and easily replaced by the crew at no cost to me. Was not told until late that the asphalt material being used would not match previous/existing material; This material is much more coarse, so surface is not as smooth and will be harder to maintain. Asphalt job was finally, only partially finished. Too close to cold weather, so the seal coating will have to wait till spring. After completion of asphalt, I did notice some issues of some concern. There was heavy roller damage/chips on a year old concrete parking area in front of our garage. Also, there was supposed to be 2' thick layer of asphalt, but some areas are up to 5-6" thick, which poses some lawn maintenance/mowing issues along grass edges. Asphalt job was finally, only partially finished. Too close to cold weather, so the seal coating will have to wait till spring. I expressed some dissatisfaction to the owner and explained that I felt there were some 'damages'. He was at first a little hesitant/resistant to hear of my complaints/concerns. I asked for some relief from billing and was granted a minor adjustment - to my satisfaction. I appreciate a company who is sensitive to a customer challenging their job quality. Even the best companies sometimes have challenges meeting customer expectations. But what I appreciate even more is that we were able to work out something that will work for both of us. We are hoping the seal coating will be completed in the spring using Fidalgo Paving and that the quality will be very satisfaction.

I've found myself needing to contact Ackermann Electric on 2 different occasions, and both times…read morethe service provided was amazing and professional! The first time I called them, we had a bank of T12 fluorescent bulbs in our laundry room fail. After talking to Ackermann, I learned that the T12s were quickly becoming obsolete, and were no longer being manufactured. The representative from Ackermann went through our options, and we decided to retrofit the laundry room and a walk-in closet with T8 LEDs. The electrician arrived about 30 minutes late after being held up on another job, but he was very professional, installing everything accurately and cleaning up when he was finished. The 2nd time I called Ackermann, power to our garage had failed completely. I checked the fuse box, but nothing had been tripped. I spoke to Evan at Ackermann (probably 3 times), and he walked me through troubleshooting the issue. He said, "I don't want to charge you for a service call if this is an easy fix." Well, he correctly identified that a GFI outlet had probably tripped, which is why none of the breakers had. He told me to unplug everything on the circuit before resetting the GFI, and then plug things in one at a time until the GFI tripped again. Then, I'd be able to identify which appliance was the culprit. That worked! It was an old refrigerator that was tripping the GFI. I can't say enough good things about Ackermann. When I called back to speak to Evan, I asked if I could mail him a check for the time we spent on the phone together. He refused to accept anything, and just said, "Hey, remember us the next time you want or need any electrical work done." You got it, Evan!

An Incredibly Good Roof, Expertly Installed…read more I shopped around, got about 6 bids. Cameron and Axis weren't the least expensive, nor the most. They provided several choices, each of which gave me the best value for my dollars. They worked with me through some scheduling changes so that I could watch the roof go on. What is underneath is really more important than the shingles that went on top. The crew was professional and efficient, and really nice guys to boot. They worked long hours to get it done quickly and cleaned up each night. I told Cameron that I wanted to be around in 50 years to check up on their warranty. He said the roof would be there.

When Steve…read morecame to look at the roof and give a bid, he said that he was not sure if my roof had plywood on the whole roof or not. Looking at it from the attic he could see some roofing nails. All the other 3 companies I had give an estimate said the same thing. My house is 62 years old and is very solidly built. When he did the bid he included 3 sheets of plywood just in case. He did not want to include all the sheets in case it did not need it but said that any additional sheets would be billed at an additional cost. If it was needed, it would take 50 sheets to cover the entire roof. I planned on needing the 50 sheets, so I added that cost to his bid and went with them. When it was all done, he said that it was 58 sheets (which I question, all the other companies I had give me an estimate said it would be 50 sheets). He did not give me the credit for the 3 sheets he added to the bid, saying they were in addition to the extra ones. Needless to say, it cost more than the bid. I would say watch what they are doing and take note of the supplies. The work looks good, except the flashing on the chimney. After not hearing back from them about it, I am having another company come and fix it. I don't really trust them to do it correctly. Only go with them if you want to pay more than they quote.

They came out the next day after I called requesting a quote, and when they arrived they not only gave me a bid, but also said they could do the work right then and there. They had taken the initiative to bring the right color shingles and their approach to the repair was perfect for the circumstances (old roof - we just need to make it a few more years). In addition to doing the job requested, they also helped with a temporary repair to our damaged gutters. They also helped fix a gutter drain issue that was causing an annoying drip where we sit at our deck. Overall these are skilled craftsmen who are easy to work with and charge a fair price. I will use them again next time I need roof repair or replacement.

He forecasted the timing of when he would be available, and when he had a schedule change, he offered to come do the project sooner than expected. They were watching for any changes to the gravel foundation prior to pouring to make sure the surface was evenly compacted. The finish work took a while to complete, due to the concrete taking longer to set, so they had a long day to finish the work. It looks perfect and we couldn't be happier! Highly recommend Greg.
