For some reason Yelp has merged these reviews with that of a similar sounding appliance service company, or the door repair owner is aware of a fault in Yelp's website and is exploiting it for its benefit. Yelp needs to straighten that out I called believing this is a local business and scheduled a door repair. I get a tech from a totally different company name {Grage (sic) Door Services per the business card} out of Boston Ma. Asked about the difference in name and he tells me they are all the same.....hmmm. He replaces a cable and does a "tune up" (which involved greasing the tracks) for an exorbitant amount of $250. Still went ahead because I was in a bind and the door wasn't opening. Turns out the repair was botched. The door now was closing crooked, caused by incorrectly installing the cable length. Also the cable was misthreaded and was rubbing another cable that would have prematurely worn through with use. Google the website on the business card (Garage Doors Service, 1-888-338-3667 www.Garagedoorss.com) and the reviews are a hot mess. Had I known the reputation of these guys I would I would have declined the service. Had another tech from another company take a look and fix it. So after poking around I think this All City Garage company (and others) are a front for GDS. 1) All City's website is brand new, domain registered late May 2018. Note the garage specific reviews on yelp all happen after this date. Also garage repair reviews from people in Washington and California for a RI company. Check some of their past reviews. I shared with Alan my upsetting experience with that local company. Alan was more than understanding and reassuring. He commuted almost an hour to come to my home, the same day I called. His BBB ratings were A+ and reinforced by a multitude of other consumer rating groups. I know now why these accolades are so well deserved! Alan diagnosed my problem quickly. He explained his findings clearly so I could understand the situation. We discussed options. The cost to correct the problem was more than fair and reasonable. Where he could, he gave me discounts.
