Going in I was greeted with a deli counter with pastries and the smell of fresh baked bread. The baker was curled up on a little rocking chair, cuddled in a blanket. Was the cutest thing I've seen, so had to pick up something. I opted for an assortment of pastries, letting the man behind the counter pick for me. I brought these home and had a little sampling with the girlfriend and the mom. As someone who treks a lot around the state, I find that there are many bakeries that do similar if not better items for comparable if not lower prices. But to ask someone to drive 30-60 minutes just to get something a couple bucks cheaper that's tastes about the same? It's a hard sale. I will say that Luanne's is the best in that area of the state, not including the small boutique places that are well off the beaten path. I'm removing a star because the standards seem to be slipping a bit. They switched their bakery and although recently they've been experimenting with their in house baking there's a notable difference between what they outsource and what they make in house. The in house stuff is significantly better in terms of quality and freshness, and although priced high they are usually worth the price. The outsourced items don't seem as fresh and it's hard to justify the prices. The coffee is still balanced between the earthy coffee and the house made flavors for their lattes. The experience has been a bit colder as of late, which is fine if you're grabbing a cup to go, but not if you intend to write some reviews while enjoying a cup. That coupled with the multiple times there's been equipment failures which forced me to go someplace else. I honestly cannot state this is worth the trek to try only because there's a chance you can't get coffee at the cafe. I think it's time for myself to trek for another place. For those who want a good cup of coffee, this place is still good for that. Focus on the house-made stuff, order to go, and enjoy.
