Just now leaving a review from three months ago. Knowledgeable, courteous and surprisingly reasonable. Would recommend.

Nine days after the sale, I received a FedEx packet from the dealership instructing me to take the title to the DMV and complete the registration myself. To clarify the situation, I contacted the DMV--and the representative informed me that I owe nearly $3,000 in excise tax, title fees, and registration costs. This was the first time I became aware of any additional charges. When I reached out to the dealership to understand what happened, their explanations completely contradicted the written record of our negotiations. I have detailed documentation showing that every conversation was based on the price being a fully inclusive, out-the-door (OTD) total. At no point before or during the sale was I told that I would be responsible for thousands of dollars in taxes and fees. Between November 3-10, I sent six emails requesting assistance: from the General Sales Manager, Tye Lee, to McGrath Imports' corporate director of client relations, Melissa Hansen Kann. I have not received a single email response from anyone at McGrath Acura or McGrath Imports. I chose an Acura dealership with a well-known family name behind it because I assumed a corporate group with 12 locations would spare me the sleazy used-car salesman experience. What I expected was transparency and professionalism. What I got was a complete lack of accountability. This has been the most dishonest and frustrating sales experience I've ever had. I paid for a true out-the-door price, only to be left with thousands in unexpected charges and no support whatsoever when I sought answers. Complaints have been filed with the Better Business Bureau and Consumer Protection agencies. Avoid this dealership at all costs.

I saw the car on cars.com and emailed the dealer. They get back to me and I ask for an out the door price as I was paying cash no financing. Car was listed at 24,500. Daniela sends me a link and the price came out to 27k per their website(including tax title license etc..). I figured I'll get there and maybe negotiate it down to 26 or 26500. 2023 hrv btw. Finally find time to get there within a week of initial contact, and was greeted by Tracy. Again, she was not part of anything that happened previously and was very helpful. We test drive the car and all was good to go..until she told me the OTD price was 31,000! Their online sales rep left out all the extra fees they charge and seeing a 7k markup on a prelude while waiting in showroom should've been a huge red flag. Online sales rep lured us to the dealer in hopes that I'll be stupid enough to pay close to 5k over what I was initially told. 3k cpo fee, 2k PDI fee which was conveniently left out from the online sales rep Daniela. Horrible business practice. Tracy did try to get the number down but we were way too far apart in price. A staunch reminder of why I do not shop in the city for cars and will never do it again. Do not recommend at all.

Right after they switched to the Murgado brand, I brought my Ford Escape in for an oil change back in January of this year. I noticed immediately after the oil change that the plastic tray that covers the bottom of the engine would fall off and drag on the road. I bought some additional screws and that held me over until the cover continued to lose the screws and detach and today I asked them to fix it when I came in for my scheduled oil change. Parallel to this, I asked them to check a seatbelt in the rear that wouldn't retract. They said it'd be $280 for the diagnosis and the majority of the time, they can fix it. Okay. They have my car all day and tell me I have 45 minutes to come pick it up because they close at 6 unless I want to wait until tomorrow. They said it'd be $1200 to replace the seatbelt (they couldn't fix it) and $600 to replace the bottom cover. I denied both. I talked to my service advisor, David and explained that they caused the issue with the bottom cover and he lied to me and said they didn't need to remove the cover for an oil change. He also said they couldn't cut the part hanging off because it was covering a key part of the engine protecting it which also ended up being false. They also charged me $30 to put new screws in without fixing the problem. When I arrived and complained to the manager, they did nothing to fix the issue (saying the car was "old") and still charged me $440 for the oil change, 3 screws and seatbelt diagnosis Oh, and did I mention when I looked at the bottom and did a small minor tug, one of the screws came right out. I also disassembled the back seatbelt myself, and I fixed it within 2 minutes of messing with it. I'll never be back. UPDATE: I took the cover off the broken seatbelt and messed with it for 5 minutes and was able to fix it. I asked the service manager for a refund for the $280 and they said they'd send me a check. 20 days later, I never got the check, so enjoy the chargeback on my credit card. STAY AWAY!

Brought my car in early Monday morning for a full checkup before my warranty expires in December. Angelo, my service advisor, was personable and told me everything was under warranty, including the multipoint inspection, sensor check, wipers, etc. Dropped the car off, signed the standard forms, and was told it would be ready around noon. All good so far. But when I came to pick it up, suddenly I owed $255 for services I never authorized or was told would cost extra. Nobody called, texted, or emailed about out-of-pocket expenses. Turns out, my maintenance warranty expired earlier than the full warranty, info Angelo missed. After waiting for him to return from lunch, he admitted the mistake and offered to knock $100 off. I was still expected to pay the rest and "pay when I can," which wasn't what I signed up for. At the front desk, confusion continued--bill was back to $200+, and the manager, Cesar, got involved. Instead of fixing the error outright, he actually suggested putting my old parts back on if I didn't want to pay. Last I checked, it's illegal in Illinois to perform service over $100 without explicit customer consent. After some back-and-forth, they finally waived the charge and let me go. But the entire situation felt avoidable and honestly, a little hostile especially for a repeat customer. Bottom line: * Service techs are nice but not always thorough on what's covered. * Watch your paperwork and ask for calls before any paid service, even if they say you're under warranty. * Don't expect anyone to call you about surprise charges. * Management handled it, but not without an attitude. I'll keep coming here because location matters and the techs are generally good, but just know you have to advocate for yourself. Double-check your warranty and get everything in writing because mistakes will get passed on to you if you're not careful.

What started as a simple $280 inspection disclosure turned into escalating charges that should have been discussed prior to the appointment time. All smiles during the handoff, but once the car was in their possession, the floodgates of extra and absurd pricing came in. The entire experience felt like textbook bait-and-switch which is especially disappointing considering the long standing relationship we had with this dealer.

You guessed it, I proceeded anyways with the vision that finding a combo like this isn't an everyday opportunity - This is when I first connected with Parin Shah, to explore the car and its background. Starting off, one needs to know that it is a small lot in central Chicago and there was no parking around whatsoever, I had to walk to the area, and when I did get there, I had some difficulty finding the front desk. There is a warehouse on the left where a few men were working on the cars. I decided that they were too deep in their work to be bothered by me, and I walked around the cramped place. A man drove up in a Ford Taurus, parked it, and upon seeing me, greeted me quite nicely and asked what car I was looking for. He answered my questions respectfully, and I might add, truthfully, as he didn't seem to think long. He offfered to show me around, and I said I could manage on my own. While I was looking around, He walked up to me a couple of times and asked if I was having trouble. I said no. At the end, he said he appreciated me coming, shook my hand, and gave me some business cards. Now, onto the car quality. Some I saw were completely torn down inside, with wires everywhere and half with missing center consoles. However, all of the cars, except about 1 or 2 on the lot, had a musty smell, combined with an overpowering sweet scent, like someone hadn't showered and only wore cologne for a year had lived in the car. I never found the reason why that was. Other cars had police decals on them that were being scraped off, and there was a building in the back, seemingly unused, as the door was rusty, locked, dented, and the windows were boarded up. Good place. Could be better.
