Wockenfuss painted my house twice. The first time he did a good job the second time I had a small…read moreissue which he would not fix for me. There was a rotten strip of wood that was not repaired during the painting process. About a week after he left I found a small rotten piece of wood over the garage door. You could put your finger through it. He told me to use wood filler and then paint it. You can fill small holes not an 18 inch strip. He told me to come back it would be $550 to do the work and I had the wood. So instead of paying that ridiculous price I called my handyman and had him do the work and buy the materials. It was $216 total. Then I filed a claim with the County Board Department of Labor for the $216. Mr. Wockenfuss did not want to pay and wrote a letter stating why and never honored the warranty or his work. I consider him a poor businessman. Yes he gives a decent price but he is not a decent person. So buyer beware. If everything goes well and he can leave rotten wood where you can't see it, you will be happy with his work. Beware if you want an honorable contractor. This happened in 2022. I was going through some old papers and decided to submit this before I throw the papers away.

So we gave them a call when we needed some interior painting done. Dave was prompt and thoughtful as he inspected our project area and he was very honest in his analysis. His pricing was fair and transparent. We ended up waiting to do the interior work during colder months when he offers discounts for interior painting. He gave us a great price and scheduled the work right away. His team did an amazing job and was very respectful, cleaning up at the end of each day. They also resolved a minor misunderstanding about paint colors with excellent customer service. We also had Wokenfus replace French doors which we had purchased most of the supplies ahead of time. They did an amazing job around the botched work of a previous contractor and made the doors look beautiful! He also provided quotes for some other interior carpentry. Unfortunately we are holding on some of that work to focus on recent water damage elsewhere. Dave seems to understand that establishing a long term trusted relationship with his clients is an important part of running his business. I hope to be able to provide an update after our exterior painting is completed.

Put in my requirements and out popped Sandco. I gave Daryl a call and he responded, among others. We got a few proposals and Daryl's was not only the least expensive, it was also the most comprehensive. This was a simple time and materials job. As we discussed the job I asked him if I could save some money by buying the lumber myself. He said sure. He gave me the exact list of what to order and I did so, having a couple of pallets of lumber delivered to my home. Note that what he told me to order was almost exactly what he needed, plus 2-3 extra boards. He didn't try to over-order anything. He and his crew (mostly Dad and maybe a cousin?) began the work. I was so incredibly impressed with his work ethic. Communications. Attention to detail. Cleanliness. We couldn't have asked for better. We did a final walk-around and I gave my our final check. My only regret: I truly apologize to Daryl for waiting so long to post this review; I should have done so last Summer just after he finished. We'll definitely be calling Daryl again when we need other work done.

The job was half done. I told him and asked him to come back and complete the job and he said it's normal for the weeds to come back and that a lot of his customers have him weed on a monthly basis... maybe a weed here or there, but I paid well for weeding and mulching to eradicate weeds and this was not our arrangement. Did not seem to understand that to keep weeds from growing back, he should have put down weed mat or sprayed - he did not do either and did not raise either as 'extra'. So, $300 for these areas and 2 weeks later it looks like my yard bed is heading back to where we started. Spraying here and there is reasonable as a homeowner, but as a landscaping company, I expected better service and more knowledge. He told me he did his job well and isn't coming back. I wanted to give a chance for someone to come back and correct, but he said no, so I want to leave an honest review for other yelp users looking for a similar project.

I wasn't charged for dumping which was a huge saving considering others charge dump fees. I highly recommend this company for all around commercial property tight budget repair situations. I have also used this company for lawn maintenance, sheet rock repair, painting, roofing patch work and power washing grease trap areas in the basement.

Mr. Purrazello, the father, does not cut corners and is the type of contractor to show the job, explain what you want, listen closely to what he says, agree on the work scope, award the job, then walk away. He's going to deliver a five-star product, and more importantly with concrete, will likely stand the test of time; and, he won't cut corners. These characteristics of integrity, professionalism, knowledge of the industry, dependability, and honoring one's word is rare today. Fortunately or unfortunately, depending how you look at it, this firm is unlikely to be a low bid. But, as I discovered from working with them just one time, it's a company you can trust. That's old-fashioned. Not cutting corners, again old-fashioned. My experience is that these traits of high quality and fulfilling one's commitment are unusual in today's residential construction marketplace. I was astute enough in talking with the father to recognize he was a true, professional Craftsman and to trust his decisions. Now I am left with a backyard patio, in which everyone who sees it says, it's absolutely beautiful! It came out much nicer than I expected and originally called for; and, I am appreciative for it. Going into the project, I simply wanted a basic slab-on-grade patio with a few engineered features that was low cost. What was delivered was a beautiful, constructed better-than-originally-designed, backyard patio. My advice on this contractor to the General Public is: if this firm gives you a price and they are close to your budget, hire them immediately and look no further. Additionally, if you don't want to roll the dice and play games with most residential concrete contractors, simply agree on a work scope and price with this firm then sole source award the job to them. They won't let you down. Why? Because these characteristics of high quality and integrity are very unusual amongst residential contractors, in my experience and opinion. In closing, I must mention that unless the son Joey bid the work as was done in my case, it was likely the only way Purrazello could have won the work. Last week we had Spiro and team paint our very large (1200 sq ft) open concept…read morekitchen, dining, living room with one continuous 11' high ceiling and lots of crown molding/trim. They showed up on time, did what they told us they would do, handled our furniture carefully, cleaned up daily and even finished a day earlier than expected!!! Price was reasonable and competitive. I cannot say enough good things about Spiro's Painting. I worked with them on an interior paint…read morejob (plus an exterior front door). I was very impressed with Spiro's eye for detail during our initial walk-through. He explained that his fee includes evening out imperfections in the walls and even conducting minor repairs. And he did come through the house prior to the first big paint day to spackle and plaster. The house was partially empty as we were in the process of moving in, but did have some furniture and boxes scattered around. Spiro and his team worked together with our interior decorator to plan out the various paint colors -- we used eight different colors. They also worked carefully around the stuff we had in the house. We also used wallpaper on seven walls, which Spiro's son Dion subcontracted out to a guy he's worked with frequently, Wilfredo. Wilfredo and his team did an awesome job on the paper -- aligning it carefully, doing a masterful job covering outlet plates, and even wrangling peel and stick wallpaper. Even more, Spiro was willing to come back on a few occasions when we had questions or needed a touch up because we stupidly made a deep scratch in our new front door after only a day (d'oh). And on top of all that, Spiro and Dion are such nice guys. I can't recommend them highly enough and we will definitely work with them again in the future.
