I bought my car from here in 2019 ... All went well....I had to block the girls number that keeps calling me to come get a recall taken care of. She was calling me once a week. Dang ... I'll get my car fixed when I'm ready...my main issue with them is I drove 30 mins out there to get some parts from the service dept. I get there and no one is at the service desk... so I wait about 10 mins. There while other employees are looking at me and not offering to help or get someone for me... So I do what I always do in that situation, I LEAVE... and then I go and leave a review about their crappy service... and I also never go back. read more

I recently bought a new truck and they did me fair. I didn't feel rushed or anything. I came in for an oil change and they asked if they could appraise my truck. Sure I said, never thought about trading it in. Their offer was good and as I walked around waiting on the service I saw a new 24 tundra out front. I went and asked about it and we talked money. It was a good experience. Car dealerships can get a bad reputation for mostly bad service. That's a hard department to run effectively and efficiently. My experience was horrible. I will never use this dealer again. They took no responsibility for my horrible experience. I feel like they put old tires on my expensive vehicle and they weren't willing to make it right. The salesman also called me a liar when I told him that AAA and a reputable tire company said not only were the tires the wrong size, but they were not the same year as the vehicle. Bought a jeep gladiator. Happy with the sales staff - except they said they would give me $3000 on trade in and then only gave me 2000 and had my vehicle sold before I even got the keys to the jeep. The finance guy Robert Webb is a scammer and will pile on every charge he can to make your mthly pmt go up. He takes on an extra $5000 in gap, warranties etc... that I did not ask for. We have a credit score in the 800's and he said everyone in Clanton has good credit- like we weren't anything special. He was smug, arrogant and a discredit to the McKinnon name. This was the easiest, best car buying experience of my life. The salesperson Dennita was incredible. She really went above and beyond my expectations. She made sure all my questions were answered and that the car was exactly what I wanted. While I was waiting on it to be detailed, she sent me pictures and communicated with me. I had a question and she immediately had me on FaceTime addressing my concern. After the sale she sent me an email making sure I was happy with everything. She has a customer for life now. The sales manager and general manager were absolutely incredible. The easiest negotiation I have ever done. This was a zero stress sale for me. No running back and forth playing games, just a fair price for a great car. The price was in the middle of the Kelly blue book value. They could have sold the car for way more, considering everyone else had their 4Runners at $5,000 above high retail kbb. I was at the gas station where I met the owner of the dealership and he wanted to make sure that I was happy with my purchase. I usually visit this dealership for regular maintenance but I am always disappointed in how they handle COVID-19 concerns. Unfortunately, today was no different. I was greeted by an unmasked employee upon arrival & walked in & approached a lobby full of unmasked customers. This is unacceptable! It's obvious that people are making political statements through their noncompliance but my health is important & I sure as heck don't want their ignorance to end my life. Do better! I purchased a vehicle for McKinnon Toyota June 2021. During a routine service visit I stopped by a sales persons desk to ask if I could speak with someone regarding canceling my extended warranty. He stepped into the finance managers office to ask, he said the finance manager couldn't do it because he was too busy.( There was no one in the office with the finance manager). I said okay can I call? I was told yes. I called later to request the form. He emailed it to me from a scanner. When I called back to find out where I could email the form back to, I was told I had to mail it back or come back to the dealership! I explained to them I lived an hour away and this was a time sensitive matter that I tried to handle over a week ago. I asked him why he couldn't step out for 2 seconds while I was there for two hours the week prior and now I have to pay postage or come back to the dealership? I explained I spent a lot of money on a new truck from them as well as purchased their warranty! The finance manager then laughed at me and said just put it in the mail ma'am and hung up. This was a very standard form that anyone could have handed to me and turned into the finance manager to process later. I understand we are all busy and have jobs however this should have been handled very differently and I will not be doing business at McKinnon again. read more

We have had nothing but good experiences from this dealership. We had an easy purchase through Mr. Acres and it's always easy to schedule our oil changes. They've never greeted us with attitude or ignored us and they've always answered my calls when I call through. First I would like to address Jody F. Jody, I read your review and I must say from your perspective I agree you received less than a good experience. But what I noticed is that either you or someone in your family was in the service by way of a USAA member. I am former Marine...and a USAA member and as a USAA member. as you know, you're entitled to many benifits in buying a car including but not limited to a low interest rate and assisting in locating a dealership and/or a car. I however, had a great experience with McKinnnon. I am in Alabama shooting a documentary and not a resident. My 1996 Jeep was needed to retire and I called USAA. Less than 1/2 hour with USAA I was given a loan amount with a great interest rate. I went to McKinnon after looking on line, met with a rep, Chris Martin, and made a great deal. I bought a used 2012 car that was in GREAT condition. Now to Wayne's experience. Without going into too much detail, I had a problem with my car...error code P0010. Not only were the service people very polite after a short wait, I was off. However, the light came on again....which wold seem to be in line with Wayne thoughts with the service department. Again, however..... I called, took the car back for a second time and was given what seemed to be priority treatment. They explained the diagnostic results did not provide that both parts needed to be replaced. I asked to get my oil changes during this time. My car came back and I asked what the cost was...for the oil change only and I was told, No Charge. It was explained that they should have noticed this extended condition, didn't and therefore I should not have needed to come back. The oil change was on them, VERY Professional and very classy. I would recommend them and have! Now for This.... I am one of the developers of a group exposing auto dealers for fraud among other problems within the auto industry. My car was purchased as a certified used car. I also bought a bumper to bumper warranty. It developed a starting issue less than six months later. The car has been back to this dealer four times for this problem. It is still not repaired. Incorrect information, rudeness, failure to follow up as promised, and being treated differently than others in the business. Refusal to work with the manufacturer's consumer affairs division-even telling them they don't have time to test drive the car to test fir the issue over a two week period. Go elsewhere especially if you are a middle aged female. read more

I'm going to have to agree with the first reviewer Wayne. Do not come here. This is cars sales and run around in the traditional sense. They WILL try to squeeze every penny out of you, they WILL insist you finance, and they WILL NOT negotiate. Criteria: Shopping for a new mid-size SUV for my mother. Looking for a small/mid size SUV with a luxury interior. Looked at Nissan Rogue, Nissan Murano (beautiful car - little too big for the mid size market), Hyundai SantaFe, and Rav4. Mother loved Rav4. Ready to pay cash and pull the trigger. First the good: Our sales rep was nice enough. I liked him and felt he was honest and kind. He did help us locate the car my mother loved and all seemed well until the buying process. Now the bad: I was shown two vehicles - Vehicle A was a low end model with the wrong interior color. - Vehicle B was a mid range model (Nav, quiet ride, etc) with the wrong exterior color. After 3 hours of looking, I was told the vehicle I wanted was not available until May due to a strike in Canada. Instead of locating the vehicle I want, I somehow found myself being talked into Vehicle A (low end model) for the price of Vehicle B (mid-range) with the agreement that a third party would change the interior color. In other words, for the exact same price as Vehicle B (a mid-range in the wrong color with nav and leather), I could have Vehicle A (low end, louder ride, no nav) but with leather installed and the promise that 'it will look good'. What's more the I was told by the dealer was that he was taking $4000 off the price of the car, as long as I financed at the outrageous rate of 5.99%. He also informed me that I was eligible for the 1.99% promotional credit price, but with much less incentives ($1500 off). When I counter offered with a cash payment I was told no and that was the offer was final. It was clear that the dealer was making no deal and the money taken off the price of a car, was going to be made back from the ridiculous 4 point mark up and resell of the loan. I felt McKinnon gave me the run around and tried to place me in a car they didn't want and charge me for the pleasure. Summary: McKinnon's sales staff is nice. Their sales manager is a shark who will try to make money off of you by financing a loan at an awful rate which he will immediately re-sell. I was repeatedly asked why I would pay cash when 5.99% was 'so cheap' and told that I only need to make a few payments then I could pay off the balance. Needless to say I was NOT grinning when I left McKinnon. P.S - The story ended happily, as after I walked out (without being stopped mind you). I contacted Lynch Honda of Auburn via the USAA App. Lynch was quickly able to find a White RAV4 with Tan interior in a Limited Package (high end) for the same price and matched trade in value as McKinnon. So far the price of Vehicle A (low end) I was able to get Vehicle C (high end) without needing financing. Surprisingly, Lynch had not heard of a strike in Canada. I was able to take delivery Monday. To quell credit score questions, I qualified in the highest credit bracket at Lynch. Best part? I was not forced to finance for the rebates I received. read more

I set up an appointment for 9 AM on a Saturday morning for a simple oil change. I arrived at McKinnon and the young lady who met me to check in the car told me that it would be a 2 and a half hour wait. I asked for an explanation and was told "We had a lot of others show up unexpectedly and they are already in line." What a bunch of crap. I asked to speak to a manager and he said that is the way McKinnon operates. Toyota is famous for great cars. McKinnon is infamous for extremely poor customer service. Buy something else. Bought a 2011 Toyota Camry with 59,500 miles, on 10/10/2016, along with a ($2,000) warranty. Originally I financed it there locally, Then I had my credit union buy out the the loan at 1.5%. My credit union bought out the loan on 11/28/2017 and the checked cleared on 12/05/2016. On 1/27/17 I purchased a different better warranty for $300.00 less, Within days I canceled the original warranty, and requested a refund of money not used from McKinnon. Since then I have been getting the runaround from Lisa. First she told me that it was taken care of when my credit union bought out the loan this was impossible due to said dates. Then they said that they called the finance company, nothing was resolved. Kept calling back to get refund, and they finally told me that I had to call the finance myself. Yes they did call the finance company ONCE not as many as the told me they had (from finance company records). Yesterday, I called the finance company and it was settled in less than 10 minutes. The finance company sent me a check on 2/2/2017, which I never got, and they are re sending the check out to me. I have been dealing with this since the beginning of Feb, 5, months ago. Secondly the salesman did not keep his word to me, but I am more concerned with the warranty refund. Now this past weekend the Camry was totaled out in Atlanta, (95,000 miles on it now), and I'm in the market to buy another car, as soon as I settle with the ins company of the driver at fault. Think that I'll go back? NO, I won't so much as buy a dog bone (cant use the words I really want to use) for my dog from them ever again. When purchasing a vehicle from this dealer do not trust what these people tell you on the sales floor. Always be sure to unfold the sales/finance contract, and read and understand what you are paying for before signing. When we purchased a vehicle from this dealer they informed us our interest rate would be 4.3%, and the deal would include an extended maintenance coverage at no cost to us. Then when signing the sales contract they presented it to us in a manner to hide (not fully unfolded) the details of what we were actually agreeing to pay for. After getting the paper work home and reading the contract we signed they actually tacked on $2,800.00 for the maintenance agreement and the interest rate was bumped to 4.85%.
