When I woke up and entered the dining room their dining room table was empty , there was not a single bun, roll, cookies or bread. The only thing on the table was a plate with tiny mandarin orange slices that tasted like they just got it from a can with all the preservative juices with it and topped off with a dab of yogurt. Both owners sat down at the table in front of me and made it very uncomfortable because they decided to start asking me questions and not really giving me time to eat. When I was done with the sweet gross orange slices they brought out this hockey puck of a thing that was made with scrambled eggs and some gross partly frozen beef or corn hash? It was topped off with a Mexican salsa. While I was trying to force down this gross egg dish one of the owners asked me " were ya from " and I answered Florida. I was originally born in NJ and try to stay away from the people in the south who are still a bit confederate. After talking for a few more minutes the same owner asked me " no, where are you really from" I said originally from NJ and fortunately it was time to leave. After he asked the second time it got uncomfortable and here I am telling these two owners why I don't tell people in the south I'm from NJ because some people still hold on to this civil war thing and have not evolved. When I left this place I went to work and I was working in an event for the town. I saw one of the B&B owners at the event and turns out he works for the town. He was a jerk and wouldn't even say hello to me after I said hello to him. Overall, not respectful and these air B&Bs in the United States need to learn from British B&Bs. Leave people alone, let them eat and put some damn buns on the table.

Location, location, location. If you're looking for a hotel on St. Simons Island, you can't beat…read morethe location of the St. Simons Inn by the Lighthouse. It's located directly across the street from the historic lighthouse and museum. It's close to the beach, pier, and many popular shops, restaurants, and bars. Everything is within walking distance. This is an old and quaint hotel that feels almost like a bed and breakfast. It's a "condo hotel" where many of the rooms are owned by different people. Therefore, each of the rooms is unique and no two rooms are alike. Some rooms are nicer than others. We stayed in room 102, which is right next to the front desk, office, and lobby restroom. If I had known this, I probably would have selected a different room. The door, walls, floor, ceiling, etc. do not insulate sound well, so we heard everything. We heard people checking in, checking out, walking through the hallways, turning on the sink upstairs, turning on the bathtub/shower upstairs, and most of all, people opening and shutting the door to the office next door. One morning, while getting ready, I was able to clearly hear an entire conversation of two people who had stopped to chat outside our door. Our room had basic amenities. We had a small kitchen area with a sink, microwave, and fridge. There was no closet, but an armoire. I think many rooms were like this. There was a sticky substance on the floor in front of the kitchen sink that was there when we arrived. It was never cleaned during our stay. There were also chocolate chips underneath our bed. The bedspread seemed a bit tattered and musty. The furniture in the room was generally worn. My allergies acted up during our stay inside and I'm not sure what it was (e.g. dust or mold). I visited other rooms and they were not like our room. They felt bigger, brighter, and cleaner. They also had better views. I recommend booking a room on the second floor. Our room only had a view of an adjacent slanted rooftop. Basic rooms start at about $175 per night after taxes and fees. This is expensive, but you are paying for one of the most prime locations on the island. There was cable TV, but unfortunately no HD. There was free Internet Wi-Fi and it was decently fast. No password required, which was nice. The cord on our phone was about to break at one end, so if I did not hold it in place, calls would be extremely staticky. Cell phone reception is poor at the hotel. My friends and I had AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile and none of us had more than 1-2 bars. The signal gets better outside. Outside, there's covered parking, which is a plus. There's also a small pool. Inside, the lobby is small. The front desk has a water dispenser. Over our weekend stay, the dispenser ran dry twice and wasn't refilled. Coffee is available too. Continental breakfast is served between 7am and 10am, but I didn't get the opportunity to try it. The breakfast area is tiny. During my stay, I often thought of what Anthony Melchiorri of Travel Channel's Hotel Impossible would say. The staff was very nice and polite, from the front desk folks to the housekeeping ladies.

TV was super outdated, very small, had to be manually turned on, volume barely worked, the content didn't fit the tv screen. Bathroom is definitely too small for a room supposed to fit 6 people. Worked well enough but th shower was ridiculous the shower head sprayed into the corner of the shower and could not be adjusted. Overall disappointing as we have stayed here before so it may just be this room. I think it's needs some modernizing and upgrades, but has the potential to be a great space :) no breakfast also but staff was friendly

We had watched over the past few years as it was renovated and such. Maybe I should blame the fact that I love Schitts Creek the tv show and thought oh it will be fun to stay in an old motel. Hahaha. Not really. You know that commercial where the bed is inside the kitchen and they call it a bed n breakfast ya that is how we felt here. The parking is so limited, our truck with bike rack was either sticking out in the main road or squeezing through the back of the building and could easily have been hit. Very tight parking behind the motel. The room when you walk in has a distinct bleach smell that I'm hoping means it was clean. The futon on the other hand was scary. Like frat house scary with stains. The 2nd bedroom was a full size bed almost hitting the walls of the room with a small dresser in front of the bed. The "master" was a large springy and very lumpy bed in the kitchen. Yup in the kitchen. No closet just your view from bed is the stove and sink. All your bed linens smell like whatever you cook. Watching tv from the extra hard chairs and covering the futon in a sheet was interesting. The bathroom seemed clean and it seems original with very tight quarters but good water pressure. The kitchen had some pans and utensils as well as dish liquid. The fan didn't work over the stove so that was fun and we only cooked once because of how gross it was to cook in your bedroom. The AC was old, loud and inconsistent. My one plus was how close we were to everything. We rode our bikes to breakfast and the pier. I can't reccomend this for families it just doesn't work. There is not enough of a way to use common areas. The motel idea is done with me.

While we had…read morea great time at the beach cottage we rented on St. Simon's Island in August 2020, we ultimately had so many issues with the management that we do not recommend this beach rental company to others especially when there are many others to choose from. When I booked the property online, I got an email receipt that said I was being charged $500 for travel insurance. I emailed the management immediately and 3 days later, the owner responded and said that was a mistake and "did not know why" I received that. That response did not instill in me any confidence in this management. They also did not send an updated receipt. Then I asked what the address of the beach cottage was and was told that the management would let me know "a few weeks" before our arrival. One week prior to leaving, we still did not know the address of the rental property. I emailed again and this time and was told, they would inform us "a few days prior to arrival." Finally, it was the day before we were leaving and we still did not know the address of the rental property! Again, we were told that someone from the office would let us know the day of arrival. This is just so strange! I've rented through Airbnb, Home Away, VRBO and we never ran into this where the management refused to let someone who's paid for and booked a property know what the address of the property is until the DAY OF arrival. Mind, we live over 5 hours drive away so it's not like we would have driven there early. The first day we checked into the property and the location was fantastic and conveniently located. The beach cottage itself was clean and just like the photos. We followed the directions given by the management to try to connect to the WIFI and repeatedly received an error message saying the password was incorrect. Immediately called the office and the lady on the phone said she didn't know why that was happening and said she would contact the owner, Benjamin, and inform him. During the entire 6 day stay, we never got an email, phone call, or visit from the owner regarding our lack of access to WIFI. Eventually, I was able to guess the correct wifi password and get online (Verizon has little to no cellular service on St. Simon's Island so we needed wifi). Later that week, I emailed the office to inform them of the CORRECT wifi password and got an email response that did not apologize for our inconvenience. After our stay, we left the property in excellent condition and went home. The day we departed the rental property, I emailed the company to ask when I would receive my $500 damage deposit. No reply. Then I called the office the following week and the lady on the phone said it would take "a few weeks" for the refund to go through. I waited 2 weeks. Still no refund. On the 3rd week of waiting, I called again and spoke to the same lady. She said it could take up to "3 weeks" to receive my refund. 4th week arrives and I STILL do not have my $500 refund!! I sent a very exasperated email to the manager asking why I still have not received my refund. Finally, I received a response from the owner/manager saying that "this is the first I've heard of this" and that gave me an electronic receipt informing me that the company was issuing me a refund on Sept 8. I checked out of the property on August 16th and had waited 4 weeks for nothing. Over 30 days later after checking out of the property, I have finally had my $500 damage deposit refunded. This has been an extremely stressful process trying to get my deposit returned. I've used many other vacation rental properties and everywhere else, I have gotten my deposit returned AUTOMATICALLY and within 5 business days after checking out. I firmly believe if I had not repeatedly and tenaciously chased down my deposit, the company would have conveniently forgotten about it and never given it to me. The GA Beach Rentals management communicates poorly and seems very disorganized. I absolutely do not recommend this rental property to others. In the future, I will stick to Airbnb or VRBO.
