You go into a closed room that has a little play area since my child was too small to sit in one of the dental chairs. The hygienist and doctor see you in the room (much like at a pediatrician's office). For my older child, she goes routinely twice a year. The decoration in the office is all Disney and for my daughter, I can tell it helps her remain calm. The hygienist is very patient when cleaning her teeth and I give so much kudos for the amount of patience they have for kids.
