"My Design" Stucco Review…read more We considered the options for changing our 1960's industrial looking house of orange brick to a lighter shade and stucco was hands down the most durable and long lasting option for a house. But it is a major project, not an instant fix. We went with My Design for this project because contractor Jim Bailey was knowledgeable and experienced. In making his estimate he considered all those possible hidden problems that could make nightmares out of a project if found mid-way through. For our house he recommended a paint product for the final coat, which, when we checked it out was as good as he said it was, and offered color options that set us imagining the beautiful result. Because stucco involves several steps, in layers, that need to cure after each layer, it is necessarily a long and messy project, and we also asked for a hand-troweled finish coat, the layer before the paint coats and that required the skill and experience of a seasoned hand.
