4.5 stars I've been coming here ever since I was a kid and still love going to McGolf. Since then, this place has become busier = all the merrier. Whether you're driving or putting, it's relaxing and so much fun! Great for dates, group events, kids, or just killing time. After a round of mini-golf, I'd recommend going to the Sweet Spot Cafe (near entrance of parking lot). I was expecting only ice cream and desserts, but they have a wide selection of breakfast, lunch, dinner, and sooo many drinks (non-alcoholic, of course)! But since I was there at a random time around 4:30PM and had dinner plans, I got a small treat to share with my bf. We tried a GLACIER: 2 scoops of slush (we went with watermelon flavor) + vanilla soft served ice cream for $3.79! Please see photo of this deliciousness. The short game area is always kept in great shape. There are consistently new Taylormade golf balls cycled into use. The new simulators have been a great addition. I've been playing all winter. It's good for families and serious golfers alike. read more

I've been here a few times now (only driving range), and at first I thought the experience was pleasant and straightforward. They provide about 50 balls for $10 and offer mats with automatic 'teeing,' which is nice. Unfortunately, the last time I went there, the mat I was using got jammed several times. Each time I was asked to wait, which is fine, but it kept happening and I asked for a new bucket of balls (my balls were stuck in the mat) and I'll just hit on a mat that works. Instead of doing that, the teenage employees told me I wasn't getting new balls, because I hit some already (like 5 balls), and to just keep waiting. Despite my arguments, they said "just deal with it." That is not how you treat customers! I wasn't trying to scam them out of free golf balls; I just wanted to practice, without constantly getting interrupted, with the 50 or so balls I paid for. I also didn't have time to wait for that machine to eventually start working correctly. This was an easy problem to resolve, and instead they antagonized and 'nickel-and-dimed' me unnecessarily. McGolf is one of the few driving ranges in close proximity to Boston. It's literally right over the city line in Dedham. As such, it's got a pretty captive audience. It's a good practice facility for keeping one's swing in shape between rounds. I've spent all of my time at McGolf at the driving range. I've hit in both the uncovered bays and the covered ones. The range mats are in fine shape, and the tees work the way they're supposed to. If you hit in the covered bays, then you can pay $1 for 30 minutes' worth of heat. I've used this on particularly rainy and raw evenings, and it works surprisingly well. I could see myself going to hit golf balls even in the dead of winter with heated bays. The golf balls are in great shape, which is a must for a business whose primary function is a driving range. They have a nice-looking short game practice area, complete with putting green and sand bunker. However, I have never used it. Why? Because they do not sell day passes to regular range guests. They have a membership program where you can pay over $300 for a 12-month short game membership, but they won't charge $15 for a day pass (which I would gladly pay) for a day guest. I think that they could be missing out on an opportunity here. However, since they're one of the very few ranges in the Boston area, they can pretty much do whatever they want. Overall, I hit here regularly, and it's a good place to work on my swing and practice all types of shots (except chips and putts). This range is definitely worth your time. read more

I hate to admit that I've lived in the area for almost 15 years and about a month ago was my first time here! Not a bad place at all! There's a range, a place to eat and some good mini golf. I've gone mini-golfing here ever since I was a little, little kid, and I have many fond memories of golfing outings with my parents, birthday parties here, and the like. I'm now nearly 26, and I still have not been to any mini-golf course that is McGolf's equal. McGolf doesn't rely on gimics or kitschy obstacles-it's a natural-feeling course that relies on rocks and angles to make things difficult. The koi pond is very pretty. The 14th hole's big hill is a lot of fun! My sole quibble is that I miss the old 18th hole where you could win a free game. They replaced it with a plinko-style game when you return your ball, and you have the chance to win a free game there, but IMHO, it was better when the chance at a free game was based on one's golfing skill! read more

This is a cute (and fully loaded) driving range, equipped with both open and covered (heat available for ¢25 per 15 minutes) range mats, an extremely well maintained mini golf course, a pro shop and options for snacks and refreshments (hot dogs, ice cream, drinks) at the main counter. What I really love is that it's open until 11 pm during the summertime, which makes those unyielding summertime golf cravings that much more satisfiable after a long day at work thinking about all the amazing golf you're missing out on by being stuck inside a centrally air-conditioned building for 8-12 hours. The customer service is right up to par (yup, I did it) and even better, they have a frequent customer card; once you get enough stamps, you earn a free bucket of range balls! Note that you CAN combine multiple cards if you forgot to bring one on a trip, so ALWAYS take the card they offer you! McGolf is a great driving range that I have visited quite a few times now. They have an uncovered section and also a covered section which is nice when it's super hot or inclement weather. The driving range is well maintained with nice mats, good markers, and affordable prices (9 bucks for a bucket). Skill level ranges from beginner to experienced which is great if you are just starting and don't want to feel super intimidated. You can also rent clubs if you need to. Great ice cream shop and mini golf course on the property as well if you are in the mood after your time at the range! Only downside of mini golf is it seems to get pretty backed up. If you are visiting at a peak time be ready to wait quite a bit at each hole. Taking away one star because the parking lot is absolutely insane. They need to do something about it ASAP. Super small for a place of this size and if you come on a weekend you can expect to be waiting for parking or just looping around endlessly hoping someone will leave. When I visited this past weekend I actually saw people parking smack dab in the middle of the lot out of pure desperation, crazy! Given that it's the only range in the area it can get crazy crowded, hoping that when the Brookline course opens their range end of July things start to thin out a bit! read more

My boyfriend and I came here for mini golf on a beautiful 80 degree weather, Saturday afternoon around 3:30pm. The landscape was nice and beautiful but the wait to go from each hole to the next was a bit of a wait. There were people behind us and it seemed like the people up at the front weren't moving so the line was starting to back up. Other than that, it was a good time and would maybe(?) come again. Oh noes! Mah tale of woe continues... Mah associates had informed me that they might have a lead on the whereabouts of mah bucket. Apparently, late last Thursday night, an anonymous tip came through to the Bucket hotline (1-888-MAH-BUKT), the caller purporting to have the location of where my bucket was being held against its will. He hurriedly whispered something about a "McGolf" , was cut off, we could hear scuffling in the background, and then the line went dead... Shaken but undeterred, mah associates and I tracked down the location of this McGolf, just outside of the city limits of Boston, and made our way there post haste. Alas, the only buckets to be found were full of golf balls, not fish. Mah bucket was nowherez to be found. HOW I MOURNZ IT! PLZ, GOOD SIR, WHOEVER U R WHO BE HOLDIN' MAH BUCKET!!! PLZ LET MAH BUCKET GO!!!! Later on, my LF and I returned for a round of mini-golf. Nice course, though a bit short on kitschy obstacles, and totally prone to major traffic snarls at a few choice holes. Plus, too many damn teenagers. One of my favorite driving ranges around the Boston area! Family friendly area and many stations to practice. Bucket of balls is on the pricier end compared to the surrounding area but the automatic tee experience is awesome. Good place to learn. This is a review of MINI-GOLF, I have no idea how the rest of this place is. The only reason I gave this place two stars is cuz of the seriously awesome koi pond. There's some big ones in there and it's a very large pond. I like that all the water around the course ends up flowing into the pond, and there's fish in there instead of nasty fake-blue water. That being said, the actual course is quite crap. The first 9 holes are almost entirely par 2's with all the par 3's at the end. That means if it's a semi-busy day there's a giant pileup of people waiting around hole 9. It doesn't help that on this hole they have suddenly switched from nice new grass carpet to what appears to be green felt glued to cement. Accompanied by a slightly raised cup these holes can make a 4-inch gimme putt make me seriously freakin frustrated! The other thing is the lack of actual obstacles on many courses. At least 7 of the holes were just a straight shot. I hit several holes in one and I'm a fairly horrible mini-golfer. To sum it up, the few difficult parts on the course were impossible and the rest was dead easy. Boring! read more

McGolf is a well-maintained driving range along with a mini golf course. The driving range maintains good yardage markers, functional mats and offers good lighting at night. I've visited multiple times and the wait is never terrible. They have both a covered and open section. A bucket of balls costs $9, but they also have a stamp card deal for those who intend to visit more often. Beware of mosquitoes! I highly recommend bringing some bug spray when playing on a summer night. They also have heating lamps in the winter! Parking has never been an issue for me. Treat yourself to some post-range ice cream (located at the opposite end of the cashier). Ooooh, it's definitely a potential date spot too ;) read more

Tonight was the first night since Covid that I went out where I was expecting a large crowd. To get my feet wet I headed over to McGolf to hit a bucket. I was a little nervous not knowing how they will handle the number of people at the range on a safety issue. Because the weather was great, everybody was out. The lines were longer than usual but they did an excellent job. Everyone respected the distancing. McGolf had spotters showing people which bays were open. The lines were organized and moving at a good pace. There was constant movement. The bottom line is that I felt very safe. Oh by the way, the facility is in great shape. read more

I've come here on twice, once for mini golf and recently for the driving range. Both times were my first time trying the activities. The mini golf was entertaining throughout. We did have to wait a while behind some other patrons, this was on a Tuesday afternoon so I can't imagine the wait on the weekends. I feel like there's not too much I can ramble on about the mini golf so I'll just proceed to the driving range. Each bucket is $9 which I was told used to be $5 so that was a lost of a star. But the range is absolutely gorgeous. I now understand why so many men go golfing because it's such a peaceful hobby, well at this location it is. There is a covered section but I opted to catch some sun that day. As a first time golfer I think it's safe to say that McGolf was an excellent experience and they are the cause of my future golf addiction. read more

This is probably one of the better driving ranges in the area, but the prices seem pretty high at $9 for a very average sized basket of golf balls. It gets very busy as well during peak times and the weekends. If you go with a couple friends, there is a good chance you won't be able to hit next to them. It is a nice little area with a snack bar, mini golf course and a short-game practice area. I've only gone to the driving range here a few times, but I like it so far! During the winter I loved the heated bays, and this morning I relished the sun without them! The price is pretty good, although I think you get a bigger bucket for the same price at other places. A big plus is the fact that I've never had to wait for a spot, so it's nice to know I can just throw my clubs in the car and head over without having to then wait 10-15 min to hit some balls. Overall, McGolf is a great place for mini golf of the creamery (which I have also reviewed... on their specified Yelp page). There are a few flaws in the place, but overall a fun spot for Mini-Golf any time of year (since they are open year round). They have a wonderful, wide spread driving range (for those golf players of the world), and a somewhat small (but still fun) mini golf course. Sure, the course could have been set up more intricately with more entities; but overall it works well and its good for kids and adults. Staff are friendly all around and always around if you need help. The café inside has ice cream, food and plenty of seating as well. The entire campus of McGolf is located on Route 109 in Dedham, just north of the Ames Street & Pine Street intersection, overlooking the Charles River. It's Exit 16A off Route 128, or Route 109 Exit off of the VFW Parkway, if you are traveling from a highway. In closing, it's a great place to go for entertainment, especially in the good weather, and I for one, would highly suggest it. read more

Went there the other day for the first time to work on my fairway game. Was real happy with the range. The mats were in good quality. It was crowded, but there was plenty of space in each bay. It's easy to track the distance on your balls, as the range is well marked. I really want to try out the putt-putt there! read more

I'm fairly certain that this is the prettiest mini golf course in New England. Seriously stunning. The landscaping is just serene, with pretty trees and a gorgeous waterfall. They have a koi pond with a ton of fish and a few ducks. Strangely, the ducks and koi coexisted relatively peacefully. I came on a Tuesday night and it wasn't crowded at all. Not a single annoying brat in sight. There was one dude behind us who kept chiding his poor three year old son with "DO YOU WANT TO LEARN GOLF OR DO YOU WANT TO PLAY HOCKEY?!" which was a little much. But it made me laugh, so bonus points for McGolf! I will be back soon for the driving range and for more McPutt-Putt. read more

My x2 stars do not reflect the quality of staff or cleanliness of the course...rather the lack of imagination on the designers' part when creating this course. *Clean and certainly family-friendly; the course would be good for kids under 10...but not so much when you're 24 and trying to channel your inner-child :/ No challenge whatsoever...but it was good to pass the time. *There ARE two incredibly inappropriately designed holes (no pun intended) - you may not notice if you're not constantly cracking jokes with the guys....but really, who can pass up on laughing at a supposedly child-friendly place with green that's shaped like genitalia?! *A good price (7$per adult) *Well-lit and plenty of parking are a plus! *There is a driving range (and an ice creamery?! Did not see this) that looks like a pretty sweet set up if you're into that sort of thing. Will I return? Probably not. It wasn't a bad location for mindless minigolf (maybe if you're under the influence of painkillers or alcohol it would be more interesting)...but I'm sure you can find alternate sources of entertainment/minigolf locations which offer more of a challenging course with more imaginative design. read more

Rounding up a three point five on this one. It is definitely a step up from Kimball Farm in terms of course action. There's actually some pretty tricky slopes and tough hole positions on this course. McGolf has a lot going for it -- a nice spread out course that actually takes you up and around a nice sized hill. There's a large driving range on the other side and they stay open late while keeping the course well lit. The price is right too -- $6 during the day, $6.75 at night. A nice gimmick that they have going on is the 14th Hole, positioned at the top of the hill that has you put your ball down a steep incline and if you can bounce it into the hole in one shot you get $25. They actually have a guy sitting at the bottom of the hole (he was understandably asleep in his chair when we went by) to verify your hole-in-one, though I think the chances are probably better of you getting $25 bucks on a scratch ticket. That said, the course isn't very exciting and except for a few of those ones with the hole positioned on a slope, not very challenging. While I liked the fact that it's spread out, unlike Kimball's cramped courses, it could still use some themed obstacles or something to make it stand out besides Hole 14. A second course would also be nice to give the place re-visit value, but it's pretty closely surrounded on all sides by apartments and businesses and is so close to the driving range that miss-hit balls flying by you isn't unheard of. So a definite step-up from Kimball but I'm hoping our next stop at either Rangeway or Killroy's keeps it up. I'll let you know. read more

I'm out here on the driving range once or twice a week. Bonus that it's open late, so you don't have to rush here after work. This is an easy, chill place to come practice your swing or try hitting the retrieval trucks that traverse the greens every so often. There's a pro shop, but I don't have enough game to go there. It attracts a pretty mixed crowd of ages, skill levels & races. Sure, there's a healthy representation of the older white guys with their Callaways & Pings and trading notes on the finer points of each with the stranger next to them. There are younger guys trying to improve their game as they climb the corporate ladder, girlfriends accompanying their boyfriends trying to share his interests, golf-widow wives taking swings, and parents trying to instill the love of the game in their kids--which is cute until I see that Junior's clubs are probably better than mine. And then there's me, who wears all black, and refuses to be seen dead in chinos and a polo shirt. This year, they changed the pricing structure: buckets are now only one size/price: $8. They added a few more balls and have done away with the $11 large buckets. I was kind of bummed, because the large buckets have helped me take out a lot of my frustration regarding certain men. But I digress... When I asked about the new bucket price, they said they'd been getting a lot of complaints from customers with the punch cards: regardless of the price you paid, you only got one punch toward that free bucket (buy 9, get the 10th free). So they've essentially democratized the whole free bucket thing. I was actually kind of happy about that, since it had long been an annoyance for me as well. So props to them for good customer response. McGolf isn't as huge a range as Stonemeadow in Lexington (which gets wikkid crowded), but I've never had to wait for a spot. And where Stonemeadow feels like you're actually out on a course, McGolf definitely feels like the combo put-putt/driving range place it is. I have to say, the place has definitely improved the distance on my swing. I picture a certain guy's face as I tee up and FORE!!! That ball goes outta sight! read more

The driving range is awesome - $8 for a pretty big bucket of balls, and there are plenty of stalls. Mini golf course is kinda craptacular. The random dips and holes make even two-foot putts an adventure. If I wanted to putt on concrete, I could do it on the sidewalk in front of my house for free. It's too bad, because some of the holes are uniquely designed and could be cool. I'm all for a challenging course, but when you make it impossible that takes all the fun out. read more

The driving range is well marked with yardage, the mats are in good shape, and there is always an open spot, even when the place is at its busiest. The cons for the range are the price. You get a bucket of about 50 balls for $8.50 and it feels a little excessive. You do get a ticket that will eventually get you a free bucket, but I'd appreciate either a larger bucket option to get some value, or a slight reduction in price on the "regular" bucket. There is also a short game area, but it's members only. You cannot buy a day pass to use the facility, which is odd because hardly anyone is ever using it. The mini golf course is fun. I think I prefer a more carnival approach to mini golf, and not the pseudo-natural thing that this course attempts. No giant windmills, crazy ramps, etc, on this course. The only obstacles are small rocks. Many of the holes are just 15 foot, straight at the hole putts. The mini course is also a bit frustrating, because the mats are not level and have strange slants and angles that make even two foot putts unreliable. I like this place, but I do think its slightly overpriced for what you get. It's fun, though, and I always go back. read more

This review is for the driving range only! Living in Brighton, McGolf is my range of choice. Gotta give kudos to ownership for keeping a well maintained facility. They just rolled out brand new balls,range mats, and bright neon flags. Staff is always friendly and accommodating. Sometimes you may even be lucky enough to get a free tip from one of the instructors walking by. One of the few qualms about McGolf is that it gets very crowded very easily. Making a pre-round trip to the range a bit tough on weekends, especially when you're with a group of two or more. Over the last couple years we've seen the price of a bucket rise ever so slightly. While the size of the buckets have stayed the same. Which brings me to my next qualm... Why no bucket size options? I digress... Overall McGolf is a great establishment for people and children of all ages. Staff is super friendly and facilities are nice. 4 Stars! Well done! read more

The grandkids really like the mini golf at McGolf. But, when the place is full at 3:30 in the afternoon it doesn't seem to me the time to deliver new mulch and clean off the spills with leaf blowers. It was noisy, the fumes were horrible, and my throat still hurts. There must be somewhere better to go. Won't go back. read more

In general, a nice place to practice your swings at a reasonable price. I just wish the broken tees would be replaced more efficiently. There are times where I would go and 3-4 lanes in a row have damaged or broken tees. Otherwise, it is a nice place for you to go and practice your swings.
