In total, I believe I was there for about ten minutes, and left with my record of a successful check in hand. I went directly to the tag office to renew my tags and was told my emission report is sent to them electronically so I could keep the hard copy for myself. For the record, I've been to Sun in the past as well with an older vehicle that did not pass the emission inspection. I left with a report on what needed to be done to the vehicle and a coupon for a discount inspection if I returned in a certain amount of time.
