If you want to waste gas by idling for 30 minutes, this McDonald's is definitely the place to come hang out at. Started the drive thru at 01:35 with two cars in front of me. I figured this would be a quick process. Boy was I wrong. Now I'm only here because I'm making a few bucks doing Door Dash. I advised the customer the line is moving really slow. She asked if I was going to wait and mentioned that she was starving. So as the gentleman I am I said yes. Little did I know this was going to turn in to a 45 minute wait. By far this location is getting hammered by hiring people with no work ethic because no one wants to work. Everyone is enjoying their Biden Money. The decline of this location is the reason I downloaded Yelp. a while back corporate sold the location to a franchise owner because they didn't understand the pressure put on night shift due to the campus location and they could not keep the shift staffed. It has been on a slow decline since 2017, but once they cleaned their hands of the problem the franchise owner has done nothing but inflate the problems. The poor experiences are numerous to the point that memory fades, poor service, shit food, and disgusting seating areas (trash over flowing, vomit on the floor, human waste all over the bathroom), upper management yells at middle management but doesn't give them any tools to solve the problems so nothing gets done... but this is just the standard one expects from this location, and not the precise reason I took the time to download an app so let's get into that. Due to covid there is no lobby service. So I pull up behind someone sitting at the first speaker with a piece of paper taped to it reading pull forward to next speaker. Took them a while to realize they were at the wrong one then even longer to give up on someone answering them at the second before pulling all the way to the second window to try and order. I being a patient person sat and waited instead only to have an employee bring out a piece of paper reading pull to second window. This means that the entire drive through system is not operating, and I should have known better. I should have just left, but I had groceries and didn't want to go out of my way to satasfy my ravenous hunger. So I pull forward. Some kid had his head stuck out under the sneeze guard looking like a turtle trying to take this person's order. No mask or gloves, in the patrons face. I should have known better and I should have left. Instead I pulled forward and asked if they were serving quarter pounder deluxes. A sandwich with lettuce, tomato, onion, and mayo. I was even prepared to get shredded lettuce due to the pandemic. He said yes. So I was excited. He then asked me if I wanted an iced coffee. I should have known this meant he screwed up orders, and I should have checked, but i just wanted my food. I didn't realize what I was in for. Now a whole different matter is the insanity of cooking quarter pounders to order. I know that because of sassy wendys on Twitter McDonald's felt a little inferior, but we know what they are and I hate having to wait on a burger that used to just be ready. If you want fresh go to the store and cook it yourself. But that's not the point. I expected the wait, let me tell you what they served me. Technically it was a quarter pounder with cheese. But it resembled nothing of the sort. Absent of grill salt the burger was completely tasteless like eating wet styrofoam (I have no idea how they did it, since quarter pounders after the change over are the best tasting thing McDonald's offers.) The cheese was hard like the burger had been sitting, but if that was the case why did it take so long? And the bun was a fucking rock. I don't mean it was stale, I don't mean it was burnt. It was so solid it could have been a hard pretzel or a block of balsa wood. I couldn't even crush it. I was so hungry I ate the disgusting monstrosity anyways. This was my fatal mistake I spent the hours of 11pm to 4am vacating my bowels of everything they had. Dehidrated and suffering I tried to think back to the last thing I ate and this was it. The screwed up order that had no taste and could probably be used in place of bricks. Oh and I tried calling to see if they would at least replace the sandwich before writing this, but no-one answered the phone I assume they are on a skeleton crew during the pandemic, but where does that leave the customers? Honestly, I expect nothing but medicorish food from McDonald's, but this McDonald's specifically makes it so difficult for you to just simply walk in and get food. The inside is always closed, so you have to mobile order, but there's no signs or anything telling you this. Also, when you mobile order you are blasted with ads trying to get you to order more than you really wanted. They really prefer that you go through the drive thru, but this location is on a MAJOR college campus, and across from the main hall of Engineering don't you think people would want to run over and grab lunch? Even if you do arrive through the drive thru, they will refuse you service late at night because, "we only have the staff to do DoorDash orders." There's no signs up about this in the app , and they literally advertise being a location that's open 24 hours. read more

I left and called immediately and the employee had the audacity to tell me that I was lying and that there's no way this happened because he's in drive. I will never be back! This is the absolute worst McDonalds I've ever been to. The customer service is awful and the amount of disrespect they give is insane. Their hours are insanely unpredictable and inconsistent. The inside is always locked for some reason and the drive through takes at minimum 15 minutes even when no one is in line. This McDonald's is definitely the best one in West Lafayette. It's normally pretty bumping since it's so close to campus, especially on game days, or after big events in Elliot. The service is normally fast and the food is good. There have been times where I've had to wait a long time for my food (up to twenty minutes or so), but it was on Easter and they were understaffed. Normally, the restaurant is clean and organized well. If I go through drive through, I an normally be in and out in under five minutes, same with going inside. However, I don't mind waiting longer here because the surrounding McDonald's struggle way worse. read more

I popped into this McDonalds to get a bit of work done because most campus coffee shops were closed during the summer months. During my visit, I was appalled but the behavior and attitude of the general manager. He treated his employees so poorly and ridiculed them in front of customers. It's exactly the same as any other McDonald's except this one is always full and the Purdue decor. Being next to Armstrong Hall, it is almost always packed 24/7. More important to remember is to look both ways before cross the street. While I don't have the statistics to back it up, I've not doubt the massive number of pedestrians who've been hit while crossing Northwestern were drawn by the heavenly aroma of those twice-fried french fries..That's why we've got those nifty crosswalks with the blinking yellow lights now too. read more
