Yep, I am reviewing a McDonald's again. It's also another one I haven't been to in a hot minute. So compared to the last McDonald's I reviewed over by the Brass Mill, this one seemed a lot cleaner when I went last night. I have also since learned that when it comes to their fries, you need to request extra salt in order to actually taste the salt. Also, this one is a lot more pedestrian friendly to get to and from. So that's nice to know if I am ever in the food for the Golden Arches. If you're ever in Waterbury and need McDonald's, this one might be your best bet. I had the limited edition Grandma McFlurry, fudge added on top, and then the Bacon Quarter Pounder Deluxe meal. My drink was supposed to be Frozen Blue Raspberry, but of course they were out of that, so I went with their Wild Cherry option as a replacement. Because the fries had extra salt this time, it didn't taste bland and actually tasted like some care went into them, even if only in the mildest of ways. Everything else was mid. Nothing bad, but nothing great either. The McFlurry took the longest to serve me of the bunch, but the wait wasn't too long and so nothing to complain about in how long it took to serve me the food. The frozen drink wasn't bad, but it also tasted like it's been done bigger and better before and even now with the existence of Icee's and the frozen drinks you get at maybe a 7/11. For the McFlurry, I ain't ever had a grandma make me ice cream, but even if I did, it wouldn't taste like what I got. It wasn't bad, I just found it to be a bit of false advertising. As for the burger, mine had two patties, but they weren't really that big in size. I'd say you could make burgers at home and be as full after eating all of one burger and maybe half of the second. Again, not bad. But you could definitely do better if you want to eat a burger. Now, as I ate, I looked around at how this place had changed as this was my first visit since the renovations. Apparently this is Store 683, so that's cool I guess. However, seeing what it looked like now that I've been is rather depressing. When I was a kid growing up, McDonald's was always supposed to be a happy place where you can have fast food for cheap. Some even had a play house for the kids while this was never a location to have that in. Now, we have pictures of what this place looked like in years past, and now that I've seen them, you really get a sense of the times we're living in now. The spirit McDonald's as a whole used to have is gone, and it's a harrowing thought that went through my mind as I saw these pictures. This looked so happy in the 1960's, and now the inside looks as though the rich sucked the soul right out of it. Depending on where you sit, you can even get teased with what the prices for the food looked like back in those times as well and wonder where in the last few decades we went so wrong. I can only imagine it must have tasted a lot better back then too. Nowadays, I am content knowing that this might be the best we ever get as far as McDonald's in places like Waterbury. It's not a bad place for fast food. It's just not happy anymore. Only depressing. read more

Food was fresh and hot. Staff was friendly and attentive when I asked for extra sauce to dip my fries in. Most importantly the fries were crispy and hot. Overall a good experience. Food took longer than expected but it was also a busy time. read more

McDonald's - Quarter Pounder with Cheese Deluxe - Burgers Near Me - Waterbury, Connecticut

It's a good McDonalds nothing fancy but the People that work there are dedicated and honestly hard-working. Never messed up my order and the fries/ coffee is always fresh and ready. They are good to the community and the people. read more

This McDonald's is trash. After not receiving our 4 piece nuggets and going to ask for them, we were called liars by an extremely unpleasant, unprofessional employee. She swore she put them in the bag and we were wrong. I'd be miserable also, but it's at the very least her job to be PROFESSIONAL. Before this incident we watched her talk down to her employees/coworkers and literally yell at customers on the phone that she was too busy to locate a lost ID, and proceeded to hang up on them. Also - not knowing I was with a native Spanish speaker, she was being wildly inappropriate in Spanish. Beware of this woman and this McDonald's location. read more

When I arrived I noted they have a TV, but the service was disconnected. Long line with only one person attending a cash register. Employees standing around looking lost. Line wasn't moving, customers looking irritated. So I just left. I would not recommend this outlet. read more

Here is the deal. I am not as McDonalds fan at all.. I personally hate the Franchise and would never really recommend ANY Micky D's to anyone under pretty much any circumstances... But that is another story.. SO you may ask why am I reviewing a McDonalds at 3 stars.. I am from Indy and was in New England for a few weeks for work and seen that McDonalds is offering a Lobster Roll for $8.99... I am a huge seafood fan and had to give it a shot. So I stopped at this location in Waterbury with a coworker and ordered the lobster roll and a large $1.00 soft drink and after I was done a hot fudge sundae.. This review is on this visit only. The lobster roll is kind of small but not bad. Best food in the world no. But I would get it again and that says a lot given my prior opinion of the franchise. The bread is buttery and good and the "lobster" was decent with some nice lettuce. Not a bad sandwich. The coke is as good as most other places and the ice cream sundae I also enjoyed probably the most satisfied I have ever walked out of a McDonalds. For an $10/11.00 meal give or take I would probably rather go somewhere else but this was not a bad experience. This McDonald's is constantly getting my order wrong, and they are very cheap with the fries, I ordered a medium fries and they basically gave me a small fries in a medium box, go to Wolcott or Union Ave location it's worth the few extra minutes driving to get fresh food. read more

Normally, I wouldn't consider reviewing a fast food chain. It is what it is. BUT even with lowered expectations this Thomaston Ave. Mickey D's is just awful. The service is slow, the staff and management is at best apathetic, the clientele is a bit rough, and the food that should meet a corporate standard falls short. There is are four other chain restaurants in sight of this one; go to one of them. read more

I went to this mcdonalds because i was absolutely STARVING for some nuggets and fries. I pulled up to the drive thru and ordered my 4 piece nuggets and fries and there was one person infront of me who got two sausage sandwhiches. i was online for 45 MINUTES WAITING FOR MY ORDER BRO WTF. i then pulled up the window and this man is too busy trying to catch a bug flying around in a cup to get my order. You have to keep telling yourself that its just a fast food joint. But even doing that doesn't help this place. It's not that its filthy or the food quality is anything less than any other unit in the chain. It's the staff here. Most are just pathetic. I have come to this location several times in the vain hope that it will in fact improve. This pipe dream has yet to come true and the owner of this franchise should be ashamed. It is said you have to have a million dollars to be able to borrow a million dollars so you can have the two million it takes to open a McDonald's franchise nowadays. Judging by the staff at this location the owner wasted his money. I gave up a long time ago from going inside the building since the two times I tried were both met with long lines at different times of the day and all caused by counter staff that acted as if they were doing you a huge favor by being there and then not knowing how to push buttons and fill sacks. I then relegated myself to the drive thru which seemed quicker. I was wrong. Talking clearly into a microphone seems to be a lost art in Waterbury. ..strange that they probably could spend hours on thier cell but can read an order back to you clearly. Making change seems to tax thier brains and when you finally make it to the final window , most of the time you're told to park off to the side because your food isn't ready. This is McDonald's right? You sell fries? Apparently the most in the world? So it seems the Waterbury staff can't handle that and the guy they entrusted with the all secret recipe of fry making wants to drag things out and not drop two baskets at once.Every damn food item comes with fries...drop that second basket. Have your most popular sandwich ready to go. When you say something about the wait the staff suddenly doesn't speak English and you end up waiting longer. Yes what I'm saying is in this area of town there are many selections...dont choose this one. Maybe then the owner will pay attention and make changes. read more

Horrific/ Ridiculous experience. Waited 20 minutes in drive thru (woman in front drove off). Then I got to order 1 item when sprinklers came on (asked her to shut them off) got another "Hold On" and ruined inside of my car before being told to pull up and finish order. Which at that point told them to forget it. Manager on duty, Andre told me he can't do anything - not his problem. Said the young lady, Fantasia was newly transferred from another of Trefz McDonalds so not her fault. read more
