New manager chick is a total circus. Goth gals saved the night…read more Went in Friday night looking to grab a cold drink, but the main bar was completely abandoned. I headed over by the pool tables to see if anyone was actually working, and those two goth chicks were right on top of it. I was greeted right away, and before I could even settle in, I had a draft beer in my hand with the least head I've ever seen--poured right clean to the top. Avery sure knows how to pour a proper beer, and those two gals kept everyone content with excellent service. After my drink, I stepped out on the patio for a smoke and walked right into a massive mess. The new manager chick--who always was a lousy server anyway, always forgot my ranch, and rolled her eyes when I'd ask for it, or another drink --was out front airing her dirty laundry, screaming at West. West was supposed to be tending bar but was completely MIA from his shift. Instead of her chewing him out for not doing his job, though, it was plain as day they were having a full-blown lovers' spat. With the absolute blind rage they both had going, I wouldn't be surprised if they were both strung out on drugs. The owner needs to wake up and open his eyes. This new manager and West are driving a good spot into the dirt, and the only reason the place survived Friday is because the girls inside actually know how to bust their humps and work.

I ordered the daily special -- an open-faced prime rib sandwich served with mashed potatoes, brown gravy, and mixed vegetables -- and it was phenomenal. The portion was generous, the gravy was rich and comforting, and the prime rib was tender and flavorful. Even the iced tea was excellent, which is always a good sign that a place pays attention to the little things. After dinner I tried a slice of Boston crème pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and it was the perfect finish. What really pushed this place over the top though was the service. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. They treated me like a regular who had been coming in for years, even though it was my first time in town. And the value? My entire meal with dessert was only $21.57 before tip. Hard to beat that for a dinner this good. If you're in Tooele and want classic comfort food with great service and a true local diner feel, Jim's Family Restaurant is absolutely worth a stop

We ate at the bar on a Saturday, it was empty so the bartender paid great attention to us. We order the fish and chips and carne asada tacos. The fish and chips were great! Loved the fries. Generous portions around. The tacos were decent, nothing special, the carne a little dried and the side of rice was slightly mushy, overcooked... and the black beans were flavorless. Note the restaurant is 21+, so it is a nice break and quiet escape from the kids in the bowling alley. Still all around a good experience and I would eat there again.
