Stopped into the Silver City McDonald's for my Egg McMuffin breakfast. The place was exceptionally busy, but orders were coming out pretty quickly. I typically judge McDonald's by several factors that include the service, the cleanliness, the quality of the food, and just the overall atmosphere. This location was fairly clean at the soda fountain, but tables needed to be wiped down, and bathrooms had not been inspected all morning and paper towels were empty. There were some broken chairs in the restaurant that needed a little attention too. As for the service, it was very good, very pleasant, and everybody was hopping. the quality of food was what I would expect at McDonald's and the overall atmosphere of the restaurant was good. The parking lot is a little tight and I expect that this location, being the only one in the area, gets very busy at meal times. Focus on the few maintenance issues and cleanliness of the restaurant, and I would expect that this could easily be a four-star location. read more

I recently visited the McDonald's in Silver City, New Mexico and had quite the interesting experience. Upon entering the establishment, I was greeted by an individual who seemed rather unfriendly and appeared to be dressed in all blue, resembling a smurf. Despite this initial encounter, I proceeded to the drive-through to place my order. To my surprise, as I was pulling up to the window, the employee informed me that my meal had been paid for by the person in the car behind me. This random act of kindness from a stranger left me feeling grateful and uplifted. I received my order of a Big Mac and a coffee and found a comfortable spot to sit and enjoy my meal. As I indulged in the delicious fast food, I couldn't help but notice the effects it was having on my physical appearance. I suddenly felt larger and heavier, realizing that I had gained a significant amount of weight in a short period of time. Feeling perplexed by this sudden transformation, I stood up from my seat and discovered that I was able to defy gravity and fly through the air. Confused and amazed by my newfound ability, I floated out of the restaurant and into the open sky. As I soared through the clouds, I encountered a giant creature known as Godzilla. Inside customer service, attitude, cleanliness, and proper orientation were severely lacking. In several trips to this McD's the drive-through service was clearly the priority. Table cleaning was almost non-existent, and front counter staff seemed pre-occupied with taking orders out to online order customers. Today was worse than usual with a slacker crew that completely ignored customers who were getting shorted on condiments and napkins; plus, no sweet tea to be at the drink stand or, apparently, in back. After waiting about 5 minutes, despite a guy who looked and acted like Carlos Santana's amotivational nephew telling me he would be right with me, while a young girl roamed aimlessly around his area, the harried front counter mguy responds to my request for sweet tea by giving me more Unsweet tea. He seemed to be making an effort, but was apparently new and had to ask other workers for assistance. This McD's is like a live ad for Sonic, DQ, or any other fast food burger place. read more

If I could give this McDonald's negative stars, I would. We ordered 2 cheeseburgers, ketchup only, a triple cheeseburger, fries, a Powerade, and a sprite. When we got to the window she hadn't put in the triple cheeseburger and we heard the cook say that it was "the last thing on his list to cook". We waited at the window for almost twenty minutes before getting our food. When we got home the fries were hard and not filled up all the way. The cheeseburgers had no ketchup and one pickle. The sprite was flat. This was hands down the worst McDonald's experience that we've ever had. The Grant County information page on Facebook doesn't lie when people say that they have terrible experiences there. I'm truly disgusted. read more

Well, when you ask for something and get the wrong thing, it's down hill all the way! On our way through NM, we stopped in Silver City to use the restroom. After, we decided to have a burger, where we missed having a big breakfast after leaving from Socorro that morning. Looking at the menu, I noticed the Angus Deluxe, which we ordered, one without cheese. The person taking our order asked if we wanted mushroom or bacon. That was confusing, because the picture we were looking at had lettuce, tomato and onion, but we said mushroom. We should have ordered by number. We were looking at number 5, but we were given a choice of number 6 or 7, and by saying mushroom, got the wrong number. A burger with dressing, mushroom and meat. One with cheese and one without. The burgers were around $6 each with tax. I didn't like mine. It seemed tasteless, greasy, and messy. I ate about half of the sandwich and left the rest for the garbage. My wife finished hers. To top it off, my wife told me that some girl tried to steal her purse that was on the floor inside the restroom she was using. Not a good experience, and in fact the worst of any McDonald's we've visited. read more

This occurred a few years ago and is, to this day, the weirdest McDonald's experience I've had.. Don't get me wrong, the restaurant itself is ok (I guess) and has a pretty elaborate play area for kids and all but...my problem was the server behind the counter.. Picture it: We came in late at night, tired after driving literally all day. The only patrons in the place were a couple of young guys with hoodies, sitting, quietly eating. These guys left after a short while and we were the only guests. The young guy behind the counter looked like something out of "the Deliverance" and would not stop staring blankly at us.. He didn't say more than perhaps 5 words altogether. We did feel a bit awkward but needed a quick meal before heading back to the hotel to catch some snooze.. We ordered our meals, got the food and began eating. The food, in general, was ok but a bit soggy, which can be expected at that time of day, I guess. (All the while, our Deliverance- server was staring at us from behind the counter) My best friend, and travel companion, noticed that his fries were actually not fully cooked. They were still semi- frozen inside. Although we were too tired to really care, my friend still decided to take the fries to the counter to have them looked into. The Deliverance- server didn't seem to understand what was wrong with the fries, despite a polite, friendly and thorough explanation, and appeared completely lost for solutions (and words). His stare didn't change one bit though, so he took the complaint well, I presume.. He took the fries and mumbled some words that we are still trying to understand and disappeared behind the food prep area. We assumed that he would either cook the fries a bit longer or (hopefully) just bring us a new serving, fully cooked. None of this materialized.. After five minutes, he returned and re- positioned himself behind the counter and continued staring blankly at us. We sat, for about 15- 20 minutes total, finishing our meals and never, ever saw any fries again before heading out the door. We were stared at the whole time as we walked out, thanking the Deliverance- server as we exited. Each time I plan a trip anywhere these days, I ask myself if I should try to drop in at the MCD's in Silver City to check to see if the fries are done yet.. I mean...really?? read more

Driving thru Silver, desperate for a quick bite to eat ... and Ta Da, the Golden Arches appeared. I admit to not being a McDonald's fan and avoid it usually since I don't eat red meat/hamburgers. But, had seen the Premium McWraps advertised and was willing to give it a try. Service: We approached the counter. Were not greeted by either person working the counter. When one of the order takers finally acknowledged us, her register turned out to be shut down so we had to step away from that register, get back in line and wait at the other register. That order taker just looked at us when we approached and didn't say anything .. we finally asked if she could take our order. Wow .. worst service ever. The food: Tried the Premium McWrap Sweet Chili Chicken, grilled. Utterly appalling! Truly. I couldn't eat it. The chicken was rubbery and the second bite had a big chunk of fat in it. It was supposed to be breast meat, but it didn't have the right texture. Didn't seem to have been grilled on any grill I've ever seen on any continent on this particular planet. I stopped eating at McDonald's shortly after moving here in 2009. I did eat here a handful of times before I stopped, and it was great back then. I recently started eating McDonald's again, and have no reason to complain about this restaurant. The employees are always friendly, and fast but efficient. The food is hot and well-made. The drive-thru (my only way of visiting) is usually busy, but they get us out and on our way in no time. I swore I'd never eat McDonald's again, but this restaurant is great at making sure I don't hate myself too much. lol. They're also great at allowing me to pay for the order behind me!
