According to my walking tour guide, and confirmed by the manager here, this is the first McDonald's established (early 1990's) in the Czech Republic (or Czechoslovakia, I suppose), after Communism was overthrown in the Velvet Revolution. It's since been upgraded and is quite nice.
What a lovely McDonald's, with free wifi and bathrooms for 10 CZK (about US$0.40). It has a separate McCafé counter and the entire establishment boosts some nice modern design elements in keeping with current international trends. The interior is quite possibly the nicest McDo I've seen anywhere. There's even a counter with electrical outlets.
The food is about standard for McDonald's, perhaps on the tastier side, but I might be biased because of the proud capitalist historical tradition of this particular one. As an American, I'm ambivalent about American global fast food chains but at least they seem to acquit themselves quite nicely.
Bathrooms: Really nice. Modern aesthetic design with dark woods and those space-age oval thingies for urinals and touch-less faucets. Even eco-friendly, with one of those stick-hands-in blow dryer things. read more
