Ha. The Oak Harbor McDonalds. The town's pride and joy.... just goes to show that there is a McDonalds everwhere, and I mean everywhere. This place does sponsor local events and teams (if I remember correctly) so they do have some town involvement. Their food is always okay, as is any McDonalds, and now with the renovation the atmosphere is a bit nicer. But it is still just that, a McDonalds. You can't really write a Yelp-worthy review on an establishment that had for the longest time not pursued the utmost quality, but rather consistency throughout the world with their products. A McDonalds hamburger is generally the same here, or in China, or in Europe (if they allow them there). So, comparing this place to other locations, it's alright. The service is usually always slow, though, which always causes the drive through to be crazy long and gives this place its reputation. read more

Check your orders before you leave this place! Clearly states on the order No Cheese and low and behold there's cheese. This is not a one-off mistake. It happens quite regularly. Shift manager is very apologetic but there's no recourse taken up the chain of leadership. read more

Disaster.... if they tell you to pull up to wait on an item. Don't do it. They will leave you there for 15 minutes until you have to walk in to get your order.. which will come cold, stale, and with yellow lettuce. read more

Friendly service, but it's ungodly slow. When i say slow, I mean people honking their horns, pulling out of line before paying and that's not even when it's busy. They used to get my order wrong at least half the time, but that has improved in the last year. Especially since Taco Bell opened across the street... But the service is still painfully slow. Expect unusual wait times. I've ordered nothing but a tea and sat in line with 4 cars in front of me for almost 20 minutes. This is typical, not conditional. If it's busy, you know it because cars are wrapped around the entire building waiting, moving at slug speed. In this case you could drive to Genoa or Port Clinton an be served before they will get to you in Oak Harbor. In fact, it's the only restaurant I've ever made an official complaint about to headquarters (And it's a McDonalds, it's not like expectations are high!) and that was because we waited in line with only 2 other cars for 15 minutes and they gave us the wrong order and then the girl (who, to be fair, I believe was learning impaired) took our order gave us a really hard time and seemed appalled we'd come back to have it corrected. That said, I applaud McDonald's for for being one of the few businesses to actively and consistently employ and support disabled members of our community. read more

Every time I go, I get burnt coffee, stale fries, and cold sandwiches. The service sucks most of the time. I'm in this industry, so I get it, dealing with people all day, but step up your game, especially if you want more than $11 an hour!!!! read more

This location has been dreadful for so many years. Service is incredibly slow with employees that don't pay attention or seem absent all together. They screw up orders constantly. I found myself thirsty and passing through Oak Harbor the other day and had a lapse in judgment. I thought- how could they possibly screw up an iced tea. I was 3rd in line so it looked to be going well. It took nearly 10 minutes to get to the window! Before I did, I saw my large iced tea passed out the window to the vehicle ahead of me. It was taken and then looked at, passed back to the cashier and they pulled forward. I pull up to the window and was told my total was six dollars and some change. I told the girl that it was not. She read off the order mentioning a couple of McChickens and some other items. I told her that the service at this location has always been awful and that she could forget my order all together. Of all of the locations I have been to across the country, Oak Harbor, Ohio is by far the worst. It's not any one worker in particular, and seems to persist throughout typical changes in staff as young workers move on. Management at this location is clearly the problem. Corporate needs to come in and shake it up. read more
