To start off, I have worked in a McDonalds before so I do understand that there are moments where the team can be overwhelmed or it's just not a good day so things aren't fast or accurate all the time. That being said, explain to me why, with ZERO pressure from an influx of customers (it was 6 AM with only two other people in the store than me) did I not only have to wait roughly 15 minutes for a DoorDash order that was supposed to already be done, but did I never get a small coffee and a McMuffin??? I waited for a ridiculous amount of time for minor orders. This is my first time coming to this place, but based on the reviews I've read, they need to shut it down or get a new team working there. Current team clearly doesn't know what they're doing because it should never take 12 minutes just to get a muffin and coffee. You're better off taking your money to another store than to come to this location and watch your grandkids grow up waiting for food here. read more

I hopped in the carpool like at 7:39 and did not receive my food until 8:17. So 38 minutes for "fast food." Add two toddlers in the backseat and you're really in for it. This specific location is the worst on all accounts. The night shift staff close the store before the posted close time. I stop by McDonald's in route to walk the mall for my daily exercise and I drove through the second line to get a couple of cups of coffee and I noticed that when you're at the second window you wait time is longer at almost all the McDonald's. I really like coming to this McDonald's location on Rivers Avenue in North Charleston as it is a consistent and quality McDonald's that does what they do very well. The food is well prepared and usually comes up very quickly and the location is very convenient and accessible if you are hungry and in the area and want something fast. I hardly ever eat fast food, but today I wanted some fries. I pull up at the drive thru window and place my order. The kid at the first window was proficient. Completed the transaction and was given my receipt. Here's where things began to fall apart. I pull up to the second window expecting someone to promptly hand me my bag and keep it moving. Ahhhhhhhg, NO (in my Damon Wayans voice)! The window is wide open with no one at the post. I look in and don't see any people at the front counter or anywhere. So, I wait.....and wait...finally I check my receipt and four minutes have passed. A young man comes from the back wiping his hands. That COULD be a good thing right? He gets me the fries. I asked for ketchup and some sticky substance was on one of the packs, so now my fingers are sticky! I asked him if they were fresh. He said yes. I proceed to taste one and it is so cold it is rubbery. I said these fries aren't fresh and are cold. I told him to taste one, which to my amazement he did and said you are right. We have to drop some more could I pull up? It would be about three minutes. So, me being the optimist I am I decide to go in and wash my hands and pick them up on my way out. Save them some footsteps since they are obviously short of staff. When I enter I see two men cooking and prepping orders, two people standing in the door of the manger's office and someone sitting in the office. One guy at the front and a young lady on her phone in front of the front screen. So four people are on the clock, but not working. I go to the bathroom, which is a disaster. I should have taken pictures. There is a roll of toilet paper is half unrolled on the counter. There appears to be disregarded floss in one of the sinks and the floor is dirty. So, I come back out and the young man taking orders from the front ask me if he could help me. I told him, I am waiting on fries from the drive thru. He fixes me an order of fries. I ask him the same questions. Are they hot and fresh, he assures me they are. I taste one and it is cold and rubbery. I invite him to try one, since he handed them to me half out the bag. He tasted one and told me I was right. The young lady is still on her phone and three people are still talking in the office. The young lady takes the fry basket and dumps it. Horrible!!!! Not a family oriented place at all!!! The drive thru line was very long so I decided to go inside with my 7yr old granddaughter. There was no one in the lobby so I figured this was going to be an easy in and out transaction. Boy was I wrong!!! I was charged 2 times before I was told I had to pay in cash.. 3 times I paid $8.60 for 2 happy meals. I called my husband in the parking lot to check our account as I am not used to have our transactions declined. He walked in (at a hulking 6ft 4) pointing to the 2 paid transactions on his cellphone. I told the manager I wanted my 2 refunds since I just paid cash. Having to perform a function of his duties must have irritated him because when the manager walked over he was giving me attitude, had a horrible look on his face (as if he smelled a dead animal ) and had a snotty tone to his voice. Being from up North, my first impulse was to jump up, spin around and drop kick his behind but instead...I chilled. When dealing with nasty people it's best to handle the situation in a reserved and composed manner. This will end the unplesantries in an expedited fashion. If I didn't have my grandkids, I may have told them to give me a refund and ce la vie...But the kids were excited about the smurf toys. I Finally got my 2 refunds, and 2 Not so Happy, Happy Meals... and as we walked out there were two employees , one in uniform were standing by the entrance/exit smoking marijuana. The stench was offensive and again, if I did not have the kids someone would have gotten a talking to or maybe I would have recorded them then dialed 911. It's places like this that will ensure fast food workers never see $15 an hour. On this visit, the woman taking at the register could not care less. Ordering took excessively long and she completely ignored anyone that approached needing extra items. Once we ordered, we joined the throngs of people waiting for their food. The numbers being called out didn't match customer numbers, orders were wrong, necessitating people needing to come up for corrections, including us. No one behind the counter was in a hurry or seemed like they care. My wife paid extra for big mac sauce on her burger. What did she get? A super small dot of sauce. Our fries were not fully cooked and the manager was a complete bitch about it. She looked at them and walked away. The ones we got back were over cooked and brown. She is worthless. The tables were dirty as were all of the trays. Perhaps that's why 'for here' orders were all given out in to go bags. We wanted some Mickey D's and this was the closest location. It was just after 11pm and there were three or four cars in line already. It took a while to order but once we placed our order, it didn't take long to pay and get our food. They got our order correct (Big Mac medium meal, 10pc chicken McNugget meal, bacon, egg and cheese biscuit). I also tried the new cold brew frozen coffee and it was surprisingly good! The food was same as any other McDonald's so nothing new there. I definitely recommend the cold brew frozen coffee if you're a coffee fan. I'll be coming back for another one soon. This location can be hit or miss on the wait times but they're one of the better ones about getting my order correct. Could not exit until after the order menu. Both lanes out to the road. Called the store while in line and was told one person was doing multiple things. When received the food the fries were undercooked, cold and soggy. Burger patties were actually dried and seemed burned. About every 4th time I've been here they got it right. I know they have automated order taking stations now, but what cashier in their right mind would not offer the restaurants best deal to a customer without even thinking? I drove up to the speaker and no one said anything for nearly two minutes, so I pulled up to the next speaker waited another few minutes, just when I was about to leave someone mumbled something. I'm not sure if the speaker is broken or if the employee was just hard to understand. I just couldn't make out what he was saying. He also gave me the wrong change. This was very early in the morning, around 5am. The manager there was nice. After visiting a second time, I've decided you need to be very patient to use the drive thru here. As I drove around to the first window loud music was being played and there appeared to be more dancing, joking and flirting than working going on. Orders were being taken from the food window.
