They only have 2 spaces to pull into for app orders. They have long car lines. I ordered their large French Vanilla ice coffee and it isn't coffee, the worst ai have ever had. They give you a large synthetic milk drink and it has the smallest detectable coffee flavoring. I also had a double bacon cheeseburger which was cheap but small and barely acceptable. I've reviewed a few McDonald's locations over the years and this location is the best one, by far. McDonald's food is what it is. You don't go there for a prime grade steak. But these folks do an outstanding job of presenting hot, fresh menu items in a quick and courteous fashion. The restaurant is also clean and well kept. My husband and I stop by here every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday for breakfast. They are always friendly in the drive-thru and Ms. Linda is always there with a smile on her face and she treats us like friends. We love seeing her in the mornings! Occasionally, they run slow in the drive-thru and I think for a while they were short handed so it was pretty frustrating. They seem to be getting better at getting you through in a decent amount of time. The food is pretty good... It's McDonald's so it's not like you can expect some gourmet meal, but I do like this one better than some others I've been to. Our order has always been right, it's always hot enough, and once we order, we get through pretty quickly. The only thing that is unfortunately inconsistent is the iced coffee. I have been eating at this location since 1990 and for the past year or so, I have usually been driving to Seabrook or Pasadena to enjoy my double cheeseburger. I have problems in the drive thru every time I go. Most of the concerns are with the crew. I have noticed there is no standard for accepting my money, for saying thank you for my business, or any type of greeting or farewell. I understand the fast pace of the restaurant business. I have worked in many of them. A simple thank you would suffice in regards to the hundreds of dollars I have spent at this location for years. I was selected to be interviewed for an assistant manager position at this location. I have many years in restaurant management, quality assurance and people management in general. I was initially scheduled for 9:00 am on Memorial day with the GM of this location named Diogenes Powell. I arrived 5 minutes early, was told by staff he was running late. He arrived at 10:10 am, after I had been waiting for over an hour. He looked very professional and pressed but smelled like alcohol. The interview consisted of two or three questions the most surprising was, "You basically know what its like to be a manager right?" So the interview ended with the understanding that I would be contacted by his supervisor. Several days later after I had to make 2 follow-up calls, I received a call from a "Rebecca" that identified herself as a district training manager because the area supervisor was out on maternity leave. She scheduled an interview with me at the same location for a few days later. The interview was much more thorough than the previous. She ended the interview telling me I would be contacted by the VP of operations for a subsequent interview. So a week went by with no call; I called the Kades Corporation office and left a message for "Rebecca" Name is Rebecca Hayslett-- simply requesting a followup call. The individual told me the message would be given to her immediately. I received no callback. The next week, still no response, so I called and left another message for her; I received no callback again. The third week went by with no response, so I called again requesting her supervisors name and their hierarchy. I still left a third message for this lady; no response. All it takes to respond is a phone call back or a quick email. This is business etiquette. I finally called back to the corporate office and requested to talk to the franchise owner, Mr. Kades, was told he was out of the country. So I left a message for the Director of Operations. He called me back and expressed remorse and had an apologetic attitude toward me in regards to this whole situation. He stated that I should not have even been interviewed by the first General Manager, I should have gone directly to a supervisor interview since I was a candidate for a salaried manager position. I have been a customer at this particular La Porte unit for years now and always witness serious operational issues whether I come thru the drive thru or come into the dining room. Having had this experience as a candidate for employment makes me question their compliance to other operational guidelines that are required to maintain their franchise license with the McDonalds Corporation. I have forwarded a copy of this text in more detail to the director of franchise compliance at the McDonalds corporate offices in Illinois. Before you spend your money here, think about how they treat potential employees, then this must transcend to their current employees. What a scandal! read more

Before starting this review, I want to say I am a big reader of reviews, for products, food, or whatever. I may want to buy something, but not bad enough if the reviews are bad. So after reading the reviews of this McDonald's, some are like 3 years old - the problems are still existent. I'm certain the turnover does not help. I live within walking distance, and I see this place is crazy busy most of the time, and I don't always see the same faces. But one reviewer stated there is no hospitality/customer service, and I agree. As an employee, if you're not cooking, cleaning or washing the dishes, then every bit of what you are standing there for, is to provide good customer service - even better if you'd provide a friendly smile. What is wrong with people these days? Happy to stand and collect a check, and obviously not a good one. But as an employee, you accepted the job, after you APPLIED for the job. To the employees of the La Porte franchise McDonald's - APPLY yourselves, and how about you act like you give a damn, because there are other people who actually work hard, to give you their money! It's not rocket science! No wonder this place sucks!!
