McDonald's on Cumberland not at their best this morning.
Richard S.

Stopped by to get a sausage biscuit at McDonald's on Cumberland Avenue and they had already closed their breakfast menu. [For future reference to breakfast eaters, Cracker Barrel serves breakfast until closing and Waffle House serves breakfast 24 hours a day]. The staff at the drive-thru seemed rather indignant that I was asking why they took my order if the breakfast menu was already closed. Drive-thru, nope, Drove Off. Follow me on Yelp for the real scoop on the best things to see, places to eat, and things to do in Knoxville and East Tennessee.

Clear advertisement of how shitty they treat their employees.

Look, it's a McDonald's. But I've never seen somewhere so upfront about how poorly they treat their workers. This sign was clearly visible from the drive thru line, you're paying minimum wage and literally demanding they don't eat or charge their phones. Despicable.

It took 20 minutes to get through 5 cars and we ordered a 6pc chicken nugget happy meal with double fries and we got home to realize they only gave us a single kids fry. How do you even mess up so badly? And I've tried calling about 5 times to see if They can fix it considering it is too late to turn around and there's no answer. I left a voicemail and I didn't get a receipt because the man didn't give us one and one guy wasn't even wearing a mask. The worst service I've ever experienced. WHO FORGETS THE ENTIRE happy meal? I have a wrapper that has my order number and time on it so hopefully I will receive some sort of compensation or else this McDonald's is a total loss.

Cashier (older black lady didn't catch her name) was very rude! Almost mocked my friend for mispronouncing a menu item.

Super slow drive through. Honestly it's like this all the time. But it's in a bad part of town too. Anyways wouldn't recommend

I ordered the 6 piece with crinkle fries and slaw and a 32 oz. Drink. $19 for this. A little expensive on my opinion. The tenders were not big, they were a little below average, had a bland taste, very tender, juicy but needed spice. I did like the southwest sauce that came with it. Slaw was ok, nothing to brag about. The crinkle fries were dry and thin cut, hard and crispy. Everything was hot and fresh. Would I eat here again. Uhhhh, maybe. I wasn't overly impressed.

My buddy opted for the Spicy Smash. The burgers were mmmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmm great, Juicy and the bun held up. Fries were fresh and would like to see maybe a topping or poutine option for them. Cool spot to get some AC and great burger before a Smokies game or a night in the old City.

SmashCity wasn't far off of the interstate, it had good ratings and although we'd been eating burgers and fries quite a bit on this roadtrip, a good burger and fries really sounded good. All of the reviews were right on - this was absolutely NOT fast food - it was fast, really fast, but the speed was just bonus. As we usually do, we split. We chose the Carolina BBQ smash. The burgers were juicy - if you're not careful, I guarantee you'll be wearing it. Two critiques, it definitely needed more sauce - I just added some of the SmashCity sauce from our fries and it worked but I really would have liked to have had more BBQ sauce. Second, the fried onions were quite burned. I pulled off most of them. The hand cut fries were piping hot, just the right amount of greasy and seasoned perfectly. Splitting the burger was a good call - I'd never have eaten the whole thing myself. The burger and fries were just over $20. When you consider a Big Mac meal at that clown place is $14, SmashCity is almost a bargain. Paul, the owner was like the energizer bunny - he was everywhere at once. Personality oozed from his pores. Make sure you tell him Sue said hi! (He won't remember me but just say hi anyway!) Now I wouldn't say SmashCity has the best burgers - that award goes to our friend Jerry. He makes a pretty mean smash burger on the blackstone. If you have an extra half hour, skip the fast food burger joints, get off that highway, and go let Paul fill your belly for the rest of your trip! You'll appreciate it!

We came on a very busy Saturday night (weekend of Dogwood Festival, theatre night, and prom…read morenight). Thankful to have a reservation, we were promptly seated while others with no reservation were being told three hour wait times. I loved the vibe of Tupelo, the hanging lush green plants on the side of the bustling kitchen, the cheerful staff and the lively music. Lizette was our server and she was just a darling. It was our first time here, and she was so helpful with her all of her recommendations. One of Lizette's favorites was the "Peach, don't kill my vibe" sangria. Which I just loved. I nice mix of peach and pineapple in a sangria. For our mains, we had the grilled harvest chicken and the chicken tenders. Both mains came with two sides. With my grilled harvest chicken, I got the mashed potatoes and the braised bacon green beans. The green beans were to die for, even my hubby was saying he should've ordered that as his side. The harvest chicken I loved--especially the sautéed spinach, red peppers and tomatoes on top. But if you can't handle spicy, this dish does have some heat to it. And we ended my birthday celebration with the heavenly banana pudding. It was heavenly in every way. Made in house, and so delicious that even my hubby ate it and he never cares for this dessert. If I could've licked that little bowl, I would've. We already cannot wait to come back and try some of the brunch items on their menu. We loved everything about Tupelo and hats off to Lizette for making our night even more special!!
