There are four kiosks for self service and at least one is available every time I go. There are always tables available if you plan to dine in. I'm not a big fan of fast food, but McDonalds has been having some wicked deals lately. So, I figured I'd try it out again after years of avoiding it at my local McDonald's in Journal Square. This location happened to be recently renovated. So, it looks more modern than before and even has a takeout window at the entrance now for late-night orders. There is ample seating in front and the registers, pickup area, and self-service kiosks are far in the back. I ordered two times during a week and got a double cheese burger promo then a Big Mac promo with a $5 chicken sandwich combo with nuggets. When it comes to taste, everything tasted mediocre and not very fresh - like it was all precooked, sitting in the bin, and just reheated to serve. All the chicken dishes were either dried out or overcooked. The Big Mac was ok. And, I disliked the Sprite soda. It tasted like it was made with lightly carbonated tap water and sweet syrup - not Sprite. I did notice an element of poor and homeless people still hanging out here. So, don't be surprised if you see a few or smell a few. With that said, they dont clean the tables often either. So, it's best not to dine in, or something may ruin your appetite. Perhaps it's been too long or now I have had much better fast food and burgers. But, I thought McDonald's tasted better. Although the price fits the taste, I'd only grab this again if I want cheap grub fast. And I definitely wouldn't dine in at this location. read more

It had a distinct pee smell as soon as you walk in. Everything else is the same as other McDonald's: digital ordering system, deals, cashier, etc. I came here for the 5 for $5 and they packed all the items into a tiny brown bag. Unbelievable! Its a McDonalds. What else can I say review wise. HOWEVER. The night shift (i usually go there between 1130pm-1am) after my shift at work. The night shift Manager and her team so far have been the BEST ive ever had the pleasure of ordering from. Ive watched them be professional and COURTEOUS to every single person that walks in and orders. I even witnessed the manager personally handle an order from a obvious man who was needy and gave him the best deal for his money that he had! I used to live in the Journal Sq area for many years. It never improved and it seems that the majority of the people living there just don't care. I met a friend to shop a little on a Sunday in November of 2016 and afterwards we went to this McDonald's. The food was not hot, french fries not cooked and ice cold, it's so loud in there you can't hear yourself think. As we were sitting at the table eating I looked behind my friend's head in the booth to see an army of roaches crawling up and down. I had to keep swatting something that was flying near my face and food. I finally got so aggravated and grossed out that I said "let's go!" Never again. I should have asked for a manager or called the health department. So sad really... I think all of Journal Sq should be torn down and start again. read more

Security issues aside, I cannot fathom the positive reviews of this place. I have lived in the JSQ area for over eight years now and have dropped by here around a dozen times, the last time being a few months ago. Every visit was marred by the obvious saltiness of the food, and every time I walked out wanting to drink a few whole bottles of water. The only reason this branch does not obtain a one-star review from me is the fact that it is open 24/7 and does keep the neighborhood going. My personal recommendation is to visit the location on Newark Ave instead. Better yet, if you have a car, the location on 1/9 in North Bergen is preferable. read more

I can't really say much about this place other than this: the one time I visited which was Wednesday (10/5/16), the bathroom was flooded with water. Food generally tends to be the same at all McDonald's unless you travel out of the US. They have the 2 for $2.50 and 2 for $5 specials. Second time I order on Grubhub and I don't receive me complete order. It only takes a few seconds to make sure everything is in order before it goes out. First time I ordered the chicken nuggets meal and didn't receive me fries. This time I ordered the 2 cheeseburgers meal and didn't receive my drink and fries. Completely unacceptable. Open 24/7, next to the PATH Jsq train station and other shops/restaurants, and it's pretty good. Parking is on street.

This McDonald's has been renovated recently and is a pleasant place to eat. The staff was friendly and helpful when I was here. The food is standard McDonald's, same as you get everywhere. There is no self-service cream and sugar available for coffee, but they were happy to prepare my coffee the way I wanted it. The ATM is convenient. read more
