Decided to forego a $16 six pour flight for buying some tasters individually & just diving right in to a few goblet pours. Angry Minnow did not disappoint. This may be brewer Jason's first brewery gig since his Great Dane apprenticeship but...he is Dialed In! I told April and Taryn "each beer just keeps getting better!" There were three IPA's on tap and they said the Citra was the least piny/bitter, so I went w a sample of that. So well balanced, delicious. The Hazy was no slouch. zi started my beery voyage w a McStukie's Scotch Ale. I then moved around to a Tequila Saison Chardonnay Blonde Oakys Oatmeal Stout & a 9-Toe Doppelbock before wrapping up with a 5oz pour of Hazy. I was so busy chatting up customers and Taryn I completely forgot to ask about how the beers got their names? I guess a job for my second visit..... I love the brick walled tap room, the spacious tables and the variety of merch. Free street parking is easy. I opted not to eat but the small menu looked to quench any palate and it was good offerings, not just a burger or side salad. It's no wonder The Angry Minnow has been around since 2004!! Both excellent examples of those styles. The biggest disappointment was that there was NO FOOD available despite a sign outside that said small plates. It may have been just that weekend but they really need something to balance the alcohol, even if it is just packaged pretzels or chip.

I've gone three times in the past three months, and the first two times I was pleasantly surprised at the service. The young woman at the counter practically bent over backwards to help. Filled my drinks, made sure everything was put together well in a bag for me so basically all I have to do is pick it up and go. The food was fresh. And I left with a smile. But it takes one bad employee to turn that over again. The third time was me walking up to the counter saying "I have a mobile order", and giving my name... and she steps up to the cash register to say " what would you like"? I said, excuse me? I just told you I'm here for my mobile order. I had a salad, a cheeseburger, a soda, and a medium blizzard to pick up... and she asked if I wanted a bag. I said how else am I going to carry all of this? She put an empty cup on the counter for me... I've never had to fill my own drink at DQ so I had to ask where that is done. I found it before she answered me. Came back to the counter and had to weave my way through three other customers. She was leaning on the counter. I said "is the rest of my order ready?" She said what else did you have? OMG are you serious? Look at my receipt. "OH. OK well your blizzard is up there..." points to an unlidded drink way out of my reach all while she's just standing there, leaning on the counter. So I had to weave my way back through the other customers to go get a lid. Came back and my salad was under the heat lamp. I said can you please get my salad out from under the heat lamp? And get one of those large plastic bags, please. Now, where is my cheeseburger? (as I'm putting everything in the bag.) as I was leaving I asked are you new? "Yes". I said well you need to learn how to help your customers more. That's literally your job. Not mine. When I order a mobile order, it should be ready for me to pick up and go with it. DQ you had your chance. I will not be back.

This time around we were able to get a table without a wait away from most of the other guests -- a plus during these COVID times. We actually came here after many of the restaurants in downtown Hayward had long wait times. I ordered a reuben sandwich, which was a filling lunch. The sweet potato fries were great to get on the side. I also appreciate that they have a kids menu, with a coloring page as well. This helped entertain my son during our meal. Our server was attentive and friendly. I know we'll be back here several times in years to come.
