Welcome to Struggletown. My whole family cringed as soon as we entered the restaurant. The screams of children echoed off the barren walls. We shouldered through to the single register but instead of waiting for a human we chose to use the self-order kiosk. The ordering process was fine until the end when the screen wouldn't accept payment and went blank. We weren't sure if the order went through or not so we had to wait in line at the single register to speak to the struggle bus driver. Fortunately the order did go through so we paid and shuffled into a corner to wait. Our next challenge was to keep our five year old from touching the glass of the happy meal toy display case. It was visibly smeared with shmeg from all the previous window lickers that had crammed into the tarrying corner. From this vantage point we had a clear view of the filthy kitchen. Scraps of lettuce and stomped fries jockeyed for position amongst scattered pallets and fumbled sesame seed buns. After 15 minutes our food appeared but straws and napkins were absent. I made a lap around the restaurant hoping to grab some on the way out the door but there weren't any. Everything is kept on lockdown behind the single register and handed out at the discretion of Miss Strugglebus. Finally back in the car, a second inventory revealed missing kids fries and cookies. Reluctantly, I dove headfirst back into the chaos for another visit with Senorita Strugglebus. Simply put, this McDonalds is struggling harder than any I've seen before. One star is appropriate because the staff were hustling. Props to them for doing their best despite the grim working conditions. The problems here run much deeper than management and staffing. A suitable solution would be razing it to the ground. read more

Great McDonald's location. Always super friendly service and the food is consistently hot and fresh.

I don't know how you can mess up 2 cheese burgers meat and cheese only plain. Had to go through 3 times and they got more annoyed every time. And forgot the ranch. Like how can you actually mess up this bad. I've worked in fast food and know it's rough but I'm actively asking you to do less work by telling you to leave off almost everything that makes it complicated . all I wanted was pies and a gallon of sweet tea. They were out of apple pies by 11pm and offered pumpkin pies instead: we agreed to that immediately only to find out they had proceeded to sell those out from under us in the 10 seconds it took to respond. In the review by Andy S, he says this may be the greatest McDonalds in the USA. I was already thinking the same thing! This is a laptopper's dream. Outlets everywhere. Great internet. Beautiful views of the mountains out the windows. Lobby open from 5am to 12am. No blasting music. The AC keeps it cool without having to wear 3 sweaters and a ski hat. The saltiest quarter pounder I've ever had! It was obviously hit with extra salt on the flattop! Could not finish it! If this is what McDonald's is serving up with employees making $15 an hour I'm done with them! Evidently the manager does not pay attention to what the cooks are doing! Beware of the Erwin McDonald's as you will get a little burger with way too much salt and a bun that is way too big for the wimpy burger McDonald's served! Worst service ever! After 20 minutes waiting we went in and found out they gave our order away! Then wanted to argue about it! Then tried not to give us our complete order. We said so that's it? We waited 30 minutes for you to argue about your mistakes and nothing? He said, can't you see we are kinda busy! This place sucks more than any other place possible. read more

Absolute worse McDonald's I have ever been to. I am thru hiking the Appalachian trail and stopped by for breakfast. After ordering a simple big breakfast with hot cakes and a large orange juice I waited for approximately five minutes while everyone else after me got there and were already eating breakfast. The manager on duty looked at me like I was the one that made a mistake and did not understand why I wanted my money refunded. Will never go to this particular McDonald's again and strongly recommend any hikers that are in Erwin, TN avoid it if at all possible. Taco Bell, Dublin donuts are also available. Ordered 2 McDoubles with no onions. One of them was loaded with onions and the other had some onions. They clearly tried to scrape the onions of but failed miserably. I usually go through the drive-thru, but the staff are so friendly and efficient. Stereling is especially kind. He does not work in the drive-thru often, but he makes sure to wave at my daughters and make their visit special. This location is always busy, especially the drive thru. I assume it's because of the close proximity of the highway. Last weekend, I went by there late at night and it gave the impression of being a late night weekend hangout spot. The food, however, is up to the same quality as most locations, maybe even better than some other locations. I really like the layout of the lobby, the tall bench seating, and the game seating area. The worst McDonald's.. Don't go there if you are in a hurry and want to go inside. The only thing they care about is the drive thru..if your eating inside you will be waiting a long time for your food. I ordered apple pird and an ice cream cone and waited almost 15 minutes..and they didn't have to cook the pies, they were trafy. This may be the greatest McDonald's in the United States. Fast friendly, courteous. Accompanied my group of 40 with 7 minutes notice. Manager met us in the parking lot to direct the parking of our bus. When I came in before the crowd I heard the manager say "Let's go people lets show them what we're made of. EXTREMELY LOUSY service! Ordered a plain cheeseburger and the girl says "so you want a cheeseburger with no cheese".....seriosuly! I called a customer service representative of McDonald's today after the last straw with this McDonald's restaurant. Honestly 1 of every 2 orders were wrong. Order a breakfast meal and they wouldn't include hash browns. Order a Chicken Club sandwich and ask for "Crispy" and get grilled. Order a grilled Chicken Club and get Crispy. Order another time and they wouldn't put bacon on it. This morning I order my wife a Sausage McMuffin with egg and ask for extra cheese. I order 2 breakfast sandwiches only and they get one wrong. The Sausage McMuffin with egg has NO EGG ON IT! They actually got the extra cheese on the sandwich but NO EGG. Now nothing about the price which is out of sight. A Sausage McMuffin alone is $1.00 then when you add egg and cheese it's $2.69 (robbery!!!) and then another $0.30 for extra cheese! I tried calling the store to talk to a manager 3 times and no one would answer the phone. Needless to say I have not heard back from anyone where I left the message. I will no longer frequent this store and am ready to write off all McDonald's. Food is not good and the service at most is terrible. read more

Always messing something up. My fiance and I have took multiple orders back. McFlurries that were only a quarter way full, mocha frappes that were pure liquid and not filled up properly, and just recently a botched double cheese burger order. First off there was only one piece of cheese on them, and second my patty was cut in half . My fiance took them back and they re-made them. I had bacon on mine, the first batch was decent with bacon. The re-made one was ONE piece of bacon cut in half! It wouldn't bother me as much if it didn't cost more than the double cheese burger ($1.49). Three pieces of bacon cost $1.59! They only gave me one piece. We're done with this mcdonals let alone other mcdonals. Our business will be taken across the street to Pals. At least they do their jobs correctly. read more
