I was craving Mickey D's fries as well as one of their refreshing diet cokes, so I placed my order via their app as I am definitely not paying full price for any of their items. They had a special for 1.69 any size fries so naturally I ordered a large. Man, what a rip off! Fries were not fresh and they were certainly not filled up to the top. Diet coke was ok, but 2.99 for a large is definitely a rip off, too. I could not imagine paying over 5 bucks for a large order of fries at regular price! As for the location, since I placed my order via their app, I parked curbside for pick up as it was during their lunch rush but the parking is plenty big and the restaurant looked newer or remodeled from what I could see. read more

When the queens aren't here this place runs so slowly. Literally every time it's dudes working there they move at a glacial pace and take their time and there hasn't been a single instance with them of not having to go wait at a number because the men were taking their sweet time with everything, not paying attention to what's being said and having to repeat it multiple times, and general disinterest in what they're there to do. When the women are running the show at this location it's fast, on time, and actually correct! It's night n day difference when people who care about what they're doing are here. Very busy here at this location, but they do have a kids play place, which is nice and air-conditioning. Very loud inside though with the kids parking is kind of tight drive-through line is always long, but people are constantly cleaning the restaurant so that makes it nice. read more

Beware drive through asks if using code for order but they don't say points code or online order code. You give code they say invalid then you say points then they find it. Ugh! Ordered 3 hot cake and sausage they place order for one because it has 3 hot cakes then they say I should know from the total order price really? Avoid this location or be very clear what you're ordering or they will get it wrong every every time. And their customer service sucks because instead of good customer service saying I'm sorry they will blame you. Yeah next time I'm there my responsibility is to triple check order receipt. I really don't want to be mean cause this is my local McDonald's but literally omg. What in the heck happened here. First things first, this hasn't been my only negative experience, but the entire restaurant was either missing an item or had been waiting 30+ minutes for their orders. We were consistently getting ignored by the front person. I understand being understaffed; I worked at Starbucks for 5 years or so but it's like what the heck. Not a single, "I'm so sorry for the wait, I'll be right with you" or nothing. I could have gone through the drive thru 4 times and received my order faster than being inside. We had hungry kids and when I finally received my order, I had missing items. It then took me forever to even speak to that front girl cause again, she kept ignoring all of us waiting. Giving one star thanks to 'manager' Niko!!! This is my local McDonald's and I go almost daily for the 1$ hasbrowns coupon, that can be used ONCE a day. I almost DAILY use the coupon and get anywhere from 6-10 hasbrowns $1 EACH. The manager Niko struggled to take my code at the drive thru then told me I could only get ONE hash brown for a dollar, which had never been the case before. I explained to him that the coupon is for all of the hasbrowns as I've done so every other time that I have been & he told me the car in front of me used the same coupon it's only for one hash brown. I showed him the coupon and my previous order on 10/31 for the same order as today showing $1 hash browns and he refused to correct my order to $1 per hash brown as stated on the coupon. He said the coupon says one hash brown for a dollar daily. On top of not honoring a coupon he gave the biggest attitude and worst customer service I hope the REAL manager coaches him on what it is to be hospitable !!!!! Very disappointed!!!! read more

7:45am 2025.03.02 Kiosks and registers down so cash only unless using the app. Food is consistent to the brand but came here just to give accolades to the gentleman with the glass (brown sweatshirt?). Despite the system being down he was professional, patient, helpful and dare I say, warm?? He treated everyone with the same friendliness and across various cultures and languages (English, Spanish, Filipino). Dining room is clean and lots of ambient light from the big windows. Playing some chill elevator piano music is an interesting choice but calm. It's been a long time since I've experienced that level of quality service in a regular fast food restaurant. read more

I go to this McDonald's because the one on PCH and Santa Fe is regularly plagued with homeless people asking for money or whatnot. I consider this McDonalds to be the better of the two (that's not even mentioning the one on Long Beach Blvd and Willow which is actually physically dangerous to approach) ... anyhow. Also, this is not just me complaining after one visit, I go here regularly, usually on Sundays at around 10 am but sometimes other days. My girlfriend has a very specific order and we have tried many different ways to order it, but they still get it wrong about 50% of the time and today was yet another one of those times. Her order is this and we have the script written down so that we do it the same way every time: 1 Sausage McGriddle meal (notice, NO EGG) add Cheese add Bacon for the drink she wants one Large Iced Mocha with no whip. That's it! At first, I was annoyed at her for being so specific, but I now realize she has specific dietary requirements such as no egg (alergic reaction) and no whip (lactose intolerant) etc... In the end it doesn't really matter why she wants it this way she just wants it this way and she deserves to have it whatever damn way she pleases. My order is simple, a #2. I usually get the same drink as her to make it simpler to order. Today, as I was ordering off of my pre-written down script. The person taking my order said something to the effect of "Oh you want a Sausage Cheese and Egg McGriddle substitute egg for sausage" (or something like that, I didn't write down or record the response). Anyhow, when i got to the pay window i paid, and looked at the receipt which looked correct to me. As it is a busy drive through, I didn't have time to actually open the sandwiches and check the contents before driving on but apparently, I should have. When I got home we realized that they substituted the Sausage for Bacon, not the EGG!!, G@D D#%M IT! Another freaking time they screwed it up! Admittedly, the receipt is ambiguous. It just says 'no egg' 'sub bacon' it does not say exactly what is being substituted for the bacon. I guess my 20 years of training in product development should have caught this disparity while ordering but it did not. Or hey I got an idea... HOW ABOUT YOU JUST PLACE THE ORDER EXACTLY HOW I SAY IT!!!!!!! DO NOT put words in my mouth DO NOT change anything that I say DO EXACTLY AS I TELL YOU TO DO!! and NOTHING ELSE!!!, and you will get the order right (at least on paper) I am so F-ing pissed right now I have a mind to drive down there and throw this shit right in their stupid worthless faces, but unfortunately, I have a job to do and we already ate it. Addendum... I realize a couple of things also I wanted to point out. Whenever I go to McDonalds now, I get a person who is clearly a white person (I am white) or at least that's what their wording and accent would suggest, and the person who takes my money and gives me my food is usually, let's just say not-white. To be honest, I really don't care what color or nationality the person taking my order is and I'm glad they are hiring people from the community, in fact I find it kind-of disrespectful that they are doing what they seem to be doing (described below) I figure that what is happening is they have a camera on the order screen which does a quick AI based scan of the car to determine what nationality I am and then it routes the order taking responsibility to some much cheaper area (like Oklahoma) or something where they can hire a white person for cheaper. I have no proof of this other than the fact that it's ALWAYS a person with a white sounding accent and it is NEVER a person like that when I get to the order window. So with this in mind, I would withdraw my earlier comment that I would like to go and throw my food in their face. What would be much better is if I boxed it up... perhaps with some other stuff... and mailed it to corporate because I'm quite sure they are truly the ones responsible in the end. Addendum #2 I'd also like to point out again, that this is like the 15th time they did this, not the first or second or even third time. Addendum #3 I would like to sincerely apologize to the hard-working folks at the McDonalds on Avalon as I now suspect this is not your fault in any way but rather a fault in the system imposed upon you by your corporate overlords who's only intention is to squeeze ever last penny out of every customer. The one-star rating is for THEM not you. Hopefully you will all find a better form of employment or maybe we can get off our collective assess and realize that this Capitalism thing just isn't working out the way we planned. yeah? right I didn't think so. Placed an order through the app for curbside pickup. We eat pizza or fries every month on the 14th to celebrate the passing anniversary of my fur baby. Just wanted fries and nuggets today, and they had the $1 large fries deal on the app. Got to the restaurant and spot 4 was open, so I parked and entered the number on the app. It said it would be done in 5 minutes, and it took 16 minutes. That's actually really slow for fast food. Great for people like me that don't want to have any human interaction and don't want to speak with anyone though. Opening paragraphs: So, my boyfriend and I stopped by this McDonald's today. I noticed that he went through the drive-thru (at the Avalon location) a couple days ago, and got horrible service, and I told him that I wanted to walk in instead today, and see if the service would be the same (or different). Just as I suspected, the service was the same, as I didn't get the item that I originally planned to get, the limited edition Strawberry Shortcake McFlurry. I swear, I don't know what is up with cashiers in fast food, but goddamn, it seems like every time we go to a chain restaurant, the results are not accurate at all! (For example: last night, we went to a non chain restaurant, and we got 100% of what we ordered through a drive thru.) Let me describe what happened today; 1st / I walked up to the counter and ordered these; - 1 medium Strawberry Shortcake McFlurry - 1 Big Mac (no combo; by itself) - 1 medium Sweet Tea Next / my boyfriend ordered this: - 1 medium Strawberry Shortcake McFlurry - 1 Quarter Pounder with Cheese (and bacon) - 1 medium Diet Coke Waiting, part one: We got the receipt, and waited for our order. Then he showed me the receipt, while we were waiting. There were items that were on there, that I didn't even order! - 2 Oreo McFlurry / special request (I will include a pic of the receipt) (STRIKE ONE!) So, I immediately went up to the counter, and went up to the same girl that took my order and said, "I didn't order Oreo, I wanted 2 Strawberry Shortcake McFlurries." She replied with, "Sorry, we are out of Strawberry, do you want Oreo or M&M's instead?" I said, "I would like 1 Oreo, and 1 M&M, please." Waiting, part two: While we are waiting again for our order, I am seeing that the soft serve machine has two toppings containers, on top their machine. One is obviously more full than the other. That topping was M&M's. The other, Oreo. (I am including a pic, just in case here.) I am also watching them fill up the paper cups with soft serve. For some unknown reason, I cannot see them fill up the cups with toppings. Now, I am seeing the cardboard drink tray, full with 4 drinks. 1 medium sweet tea, 1 diet coke, and 2 M&M's McFlurries! (STRIKE TWO!) I knew that was our order, because the female manager said, "order number 214, please." We walked up to the counter and I see our order. I also see the bag, next to it (and I assume my Big Mac and his QPC are in it). He grabs the bag, I grab the cardboard drink tray. I immediately take it to the back of our car, open the trunk, and I take a pic of the tray, with the obvious wrong McFlurries that we received. At this point, I am internally angry I didn't want to deal with talking to either the worker or the manager again, and I knew that I had enough evidence for a scathing Yelp review, because I received horrible service, and it needs to be written down, and the public needs to know about this behavior. Criticism part: First, I am not happy with the misinterpretation of the words of what I ordered and how it evolved. If something wasn't available, you, the worker, needed to let me, the customer, know this information, way ahead of time. Also, the advertised new food item, that was on the screen, was there. And therefore, I, the customer, can see that, and wanted to try it out. There needed to be signage that clearly states that it is not available, if this is the case. Second, I want to publicly announce here, that McDonald's need to hire people that will fix wrong order issues, in a timely manner, and most importantly, not lie to the customer, if and when, the cashier knows that certain ingredients weren't available, so you let me, the customer, know ahead of time, like a courteous person would, so I can continue with the in-store transaction process along. On another similar note, I wouldn't of had to write this review because of it, and now anyone who reads this, will know how incompetent and situationally unaware your staff is, and honestly, she obviously wasn't listening to what I was ordering at all, and not only was that disappointing, but it was infuriating to deal with! Opinion part: I am sorry, but there needs to be a certain level of emotional intelligence before you hire people to work for your business, especially if the worker is dealing with people all day. I used to work in retail, and I remember I had to take a mandatory psychology test before you were officially hired. So my question is, why aren't they doing this now? And another thing, was I not clear? Was I doing something wrong? Was I mumbling? I do remember, when we first walked up to the counter, it was loud in there, as there were loud beeping sounds, going off, in a repetitive pattern (which is highly annoying, considering I talk softly, in general/in comparison)! The only thing good about this location is the playground. The priority is the drive thru so be prepared, if you go inside; to wait at least 20 minutes to realize you're missing something from your order then have to wait an additional 10-15 minutes for them to stop arguing with you about how they put the sauce inside the happy meal then another additional 10-15 minutes for them to get said sauce lol. The 2 workers (2 ladies on March 14 @ 3-4) working the dining room are unprofessional and combative. I wonder when the minimum wage goes up in April if they'll be just as unprofessional and combative...
