It might look tiny, but don't misjudge the coffee and other drinks they are making here! I actually went back after my first order to try another beverage, it was that good. I started with a Fall-flavored 'refresher,' though I can't honestly remember the name. But, it was amazing! I was down the strip a few shops for an event, so I popped back to The Big Bean before they closed for their "Not Ready for Winter" coffee concoction. Another winner! I also picked up a couple of biscotti for later. When we did finally get around to trying them, they were incredible! Very hard and crunchy as a biscotti should be, and perfect for soaking up some coffee for dunking. And the flavors are perfect. Other people were ordering their breakfast sandwiches, which honestly looked and smelled incredible... I just didn't have room for food that day. Or, I would have totally ordered one just based off of others' orders alone! The real five-star facet here, though, was the staff. They were very friendly and helpful, despite how busy they were. They still found time for friendly and cheerful banter while ringing everyone up. I don't think team members get enough credit when they go above and beyond, but please take the time to tip or at least acknowledge the fantastic folks here! Overall, it's a wonderful coffee shop that I wish were closer to home! And... had more parking! The number and orientation of spots here isn't ideal, but it's worth an extra walk (huge lot across the street) for the drinks, snacks, and people at The Big Bean. Outstanding overall experience!

What really stood out to me is how thoughtfully they've made it family-friendly. There's a small kids' area inside with tiny chairs and books, which is such a nice touch if you're coming with little ones. Yes it's not just coffee it's a bookstore with a real live mascot in Ferguson the friendly Bernice Mountain dog. Check out the drink specials it will be worth your while to order one because can't get them year around. The pasties or good as well, just ask them to heat them up because they are cold! My only complaint is they didn't heat up our pastries and by time I sat down I don't want to get back in the long line to ask them to heat them up. Of course I could just skip the line but did I mention it's small and cramped to navigate. There is a downstairs so be sure to check it out. There's "Coffee should be something special" painted boldly on the exterior and some trees to provide shade for outdoor seating. The inside was nice and cool, and the barista was helpful when making recommendations for the pour over. POUR OVER - MKT PRICE I got the Colombia Los Pinos (Washed) which has grapefruit, dark chocolate, and creamy tasting notes for 6.75. I really enjoyed it, as it was fruity and not overly citrusy with a bit of bitterness. Each pour over comes with about 12 oz in a glass carafe that you can poor into a ceramic cup to enjoy. I loved this pour over and would recommend drinking it in the cafe to avoid getting that unpleasant waxy taste from the paper cups. Overall, great coffee shop to spend time in with good coffee. Ceremony is definitely one of my favorite roasters in the DMV, and I try to make time to stop by whenever I'm near one.

Today I just grabbed a hot matcha latte with pistachio syrup made with almond milk. It wasn't too sweet at all, right temperature. It was a drippy rainy day so the outdoor seating on the deck was not too attractive. There are tables inside along two walls. You order at the counter, pick up beverages, and if you are dining in, they give you a number and they bring food to your table. I had a yummy breakfast sandwich of egg white, tomato, spinach, & cheese. I was impressed with all the choices on their menu. They do a brisk carryout business too. I will definitely return.
