Like I mentioned in a previous post, Dave's Hot Chicken lives up to the hype…read more Over the weekend, I stopped in at the new Dave's Hot Chicken in Amsterdam, which is located in the former Moe's Southwest Grill space at Amsterdam Commons. I spotted several Dave's Hot Chicken "Now Open" lawn signs near Amsterdam HS. As expected, there was a long line from the door to the registers. I ordered my favorite #2 Combo, 2 Sliders (Medium spiciness) & Fries ($14.99 plus tax) and a side of Mac & Cheese ($3.79 plus tax). They call your number when your order is ready. It took 15 minutes after ordering for my order to be packed and ready. The sliders had very crisp thick chicken tenders, slaw, pickles & orange sauce on soft buns were very good. The chicken tenders were crispy outside which had a sweet flavor, then medium hot taste! The crinkle cut fries were golden fried and firm. Dill pickle chips and tangy orange dipping sauce was included with the box of food. The Mac & Cheese had soft macaroni and orange cheese sauce, which I dipped the crinkle cut fries into for cheese fries. This place lived up to the hype IMO. I would recommend this place if you love to eat spicy hot chicken and fries. Still crossing my fingers, as they expand and open more locations including in Portsmouth NH, hopefully more in NH in the near future.

Dave's Hot Chicken has some really good qualities, but my experience was a mix of highs and lows…read more The chicken was crispy and the seasoning had great flavor, and I liked having different spice levels to choose from. The fries were well seasoned, and the staff was friendly. However, my chicken was a little dry, and the wait was longer than I expected. Overall, the food was good and I can see why it's popular, but I think there's room for improvement. I'd still come back and give it another try.

For context, I rate products and businesses on a simple scale: 5 stars means I love it, 4 stars…read moremeans I like it, 3 stars is okay, 2 stars means I didn't like it, and 1 star means I hated it or think it's unsafe. 2 stars. The food itself was actually good, my complaints really are not about the food. The problem is the restaurant itself and how poorly it's run. This is honestly the worst Chipotle I've ever been in, and possibly one of the worst fast food dining experiences I've had from a cleanliness and layout standpoint. The design of this place is bizarre. When you walk in and get into the ordering line, the line puts you practically on top of customers sitting at the nearest table. If people are using those seats, you're basically standing right over them while waiting to order. It's awkward and uncomfortable for everyone involved. Then there's the cleanliness issue. I could not find a clean table anywhere in the restaurant. There were at least six employees working while I was there, and not one of them made any effort to wipe down tables, even when they had opportunities to do so. The beverage station is tucked around a corner almost like it was an afterthought. It feels like they built the restaurant and then suddenly realized they needed somewhere to put the drinks. There were more dirty tables back there too. The bathroom was just as bad. My child went into one stall and there was no toilet paper at all. The other stall barely had any left in the dispenser, with a single loose roll sitting on a shelf across the bathroom. Garbage was overflowing and the whole area looked neglected. The food saved this from being a 1 star review, but the restaurant itself was not a pleasant experience. I won't be back to this location.

I anticipated a long…read morewait time, and I wanted to take my time exploring the menu so I placed my order on the app. I realized I had a free drink so I went with the tropical green smoothie. For my meal, I got 1/2 chicken pesto ciabatta dipper, 1/2 farmhouse crunch salad, and they got me with the add on of asiago croissant twists (2) for $1 more. My total was about $13-$14 which was okay considering the amount of food, but the discounts definitely helped. The wait was about 10 minutes and in the meantime I went to the bathroom. They were clean, but a stall was missing to let paper so we told a staff member. I am not sure if there was an eat in option on the app, but my order came in to go packaging which was a lot of waste. The sandwich was warm. The chicken tasted good and wasn't dry. It came with a variety of cheeses, and the pesto sauce tasted like basil and mayo and helped to moisten it all. The bread was toasted to perfection. I do wish it came with the option to add lettuce and tomato or bacon. It was smaller than I thought it would be (~4 inches) but still filling. The farmhouse salad was good despite not having meat. The sweet potato and candied almonds made it heavily sweet, but the other toppings balanced it out: nutty - roasted pumpkin seeds, fresh - cucumber and tomato, and creamy -avocado and parmesan cheese. The dressing was good and I appreciate that they put it on the side. The asiago croissant twists were very cheesy, soft on the inside and buttery, with a crispy outside. The dipping sauce it came with tasted like tomato soup. It was good. The tropical green smoothie did not taste natural at all and instead tasted a lot like their papaya green tea drink with a hint of some other fruits. They had indoor seating but also about eight tables outside. Since it was nice out, we ate outside under the shade. There was lots of parking since it was in a plaza.

Full disclosure....I might eat Taco Bell 2-3 times per year (or any other fast food for that matter). The food was fine, but I happened to order my items without meat. Clearly, nobody has ever done that before in the history of this particular Taco Bell. Ever. The girl at the front literally asked me 5 times, "no meat?". I had to reassure her that she heard me correctly...every time I said "no meat". Then, when one of the guys preparing the food in the kitchen saw it on the screen, I heard him say, "this is really good beef....wait...no meat??". He also reiterated said question numerous times. He was clearly bewildered, dumbfounded, astonished, confused.... and slightly distressed. Yes...I like tacos/burritos and other Mexican-style items WITHOUT MEAT. Not earth shattering and I'm still paying full price. So please....take a chill pill. But it didn't end there. When the food was ready, the guy from the back said my name with the most snarky, crap-laden attitude....completely uncalled for. But wait. There's more. Another guy from the back that was commiserating on the "no meat" situation was literally staring at me for the first couple of minutes that I started eating my meatless items. I'm only (generously) giving them 3 stars because the food was prepared quickly, the quality was fine, the dining room was relatively clean and I didn't get food poisoning.
