Hands down, the best massage therapist!!!…read more I ran the Honolulu marathon yesterday, and I woke up with a massive body ache, barely able to get out of bed... I knew I had to go get a massage. I've tried massages from expensive spas to cheap massage schools, but nothing compares to Michael's massage. Thanks to Yelp! He knows all the right places (like inner scapula, outer tibia, and along the spine) and the pressure was peeeeerfect (I like mines on the stronger side). Just what I needed from head to toe, literally! The unique combination of shiatsu (my fav), lomi lomi, and deep tissue really helped massage out my achy muscles. It hurt when he was massaging it out but it was a feel good pain! You can always ask him to change the pressure. But I loved it!! I even fell asleep a little bit...cuz it felt so good!! I'll definitely be back again. I wanna say tomorrow, but I gotta save money for Christmas shopping ;p But I'm def going back before the year end. Thank you Michael!!! Location: Home studio or he'll travel to your home!!! I went to his home studio - small but nice and cozy, smells good too!! It's a much better deal if you go to his studio too, but if you're too lazy to get out of the house, it's still way cheaper than many other places. Parking: No parking so make sure you street park on Oceanview or Sunset. I found parking easily.

Massage Mission I…read morework in the Mission and I wanted to find a quality massage service in the area. Work can be stressful and a massage is definitely worth investing. After a few days of searching and actual leg work, I settled on Mission Massage. I bought the three 60-minute package because its a fantastic deal! After my first massage, I wish I had purchased the five package deal. The frontage is what I'm assuming is also a housing unit because it looks like a typical pitched roof house, but don't let that fool you. Inside is the massage room that dreams are made of -- a heated massage table, candles, incense, sound machine, and everything you would think 'calm' looks like. Since this is a small business, they are very flexible with scheduling massages. I scheduled a 6PM appointment. Overall, I highly recommend.

Why I decided it was a good idea to take on an intense new workout routine right before my vacation is beyond me. All I can say is that sometimes excitement impairs my judgement. Anyhow, I ended up with a very sore lower back and some minor pain from the impact of landing on concrete repeatedly for 30 minutes. I was DESPERATE for a massage and hoping that I'd be magically cured before I take off. After searching on Yelp in a panic for a same-day appointment after work that wasn't a cheap Asian/Thai massage but still reasonably priced, I was lucky enough to score an appointment with Chimene. Her reservation system online is very easy to use, and she responds to e-mails quickly. Chimene is AMAZING. She knows exactly where all of your pressure points are and will cater to whatever you feel your body needs the most attention. She worked the knots around my shoulders, neck, in between my shoulder blades, and me lower back like none other. She was also easy to talk to but respected the much needed silence that was needed for me to truly relax. I didn't feel pressured to carry on a conversation, which I really really appreciated. The massage room itself is dimly lit and cozy. The massage bed warms up, and I felt like I was in a comfortable, peaceful space. Sadly, Chimene informed that that she's going to be away in South America until March 2016, but I'll definitely be back again when she's back from her trip!

Stop spending $90+ on fluffy spa massages, and give this guy a call. Seriously…read more Mike Dawid continues to impress me. He has transitioned out of his office in Mill Valley, and now does mostly house calls in San Francisco. He works on a lot of people that do yoga, dance or otherwise bend their bodies into strange positions. A lot of his clients are also very active outdoors - hiking, cycling, rock climbing, and so on. I think he enjoys the challenge of working with active people, helping create harmony in their body so that they can continue being active and healthy. I have had trouble with my knee and hip for years (car accident) and his skillful hands have offered me the first real hope for healing the injuries. I use to get regular headaches - due to botched chiropractic sessions - and after a couple of sessions with Mike, headaches have become rare. Mike shows up at your door with everything he needs to provide a stellar healing session: table, sheets, music, and a deliciously warm heating pad for the table. All you need is space to set up the table.

On several occasions (my back, my shoulder, my knee) I've gone to him because I've hurt something and he's spent a great deal of time working on it resulting in substantial, sometimes almost complete, improvement. He's also tall and strong and has huge hands and is strong enough to massage me the way I like, and gentle and knowledgeable enough to back off when necessary and take a more oblique approach to get the desired result. I believe he also has a sports massage background amoung his studies and often does some active stretching towards the end of my massages with him which really helps. It's a small thing, but I've never encountered it with anyone else. A+ He does house calls too, which is rather convenient. I've had massages both at his place and at mine, and honestly I kinda prefer to be in his set up but it's nice to just have him come over. Oh, and he's also relatively reasonable on price. Massages in this city can get quite expensive. Of course, good as he is you may want to become a client before he gets so popular he starts raising his prices for new people.
