We were disappointed with Greenrun Construction for so many reasons. The biggest one was that they…read moreheld themselves out to be "sustainable" builders on their website and suggested the same with their business name. In our experience, they did not have any more expertise in or attention to sustainability than any run-of-the-mill contractor. We had to do our own research to select sustainable roofing materials because Rodney didn't know anything about, or at least did not share with us, the pros and cons of various materials from a sustainability standpoint. We trusted that he would recommend doors with windows that had the highest level of energy efficiency. He did not, so we ended up with less energy efficient French doors that did not qualify for an energy efficiency tax credit. He never told us about the tax credit; we only discovered it when we were doing our taxes, long after the doors had been installed. The most costly of his mistakes was misunderstanding which doors we wanted replaced, in spite of our physically showing him exactly which doors. He ordered a new door for the wrong spot. They were custom doors, so could not be returned. His inattention to our directions cost us an additional $3400. He cut into our deck to access one area for the door replacements. He replaced the boards he cut but did not adequately secure them. Now we have multiple boards popping up several inches, making the deck unsafe to use. After removing the rubber baseboard to replace another door, he thought it was all right to replace it with a base board that ended several inches before the juncture with the door. When we followed up about this, he said he could fix it, but only with a different size baseboard than used in the rest of the room. After a long time and much follow up on our part, he managed to find the right size baseboard and have his worker install it. But the worker used the wrong kind of adhesive and the baseboard peeled off. We had to hire someone else to do it correctly. It appears that his worker may have damaged our flooring at the same time. In sum, look elsewhere if you are looking for a contractor with sustainability expertise. If you do hire him, you need to watch him like a hawk to minimize his errors and to ensure that he fixes his mistakes.

Bay Cities was the low bid and came recommended from friend that built his custom home prior to my losing my home. When my framer saw the bid he told me to sign it immediately and send it back for scheduling. Bay Cities pulled permits, installed, and had inspection without any effort on my part. The only thing I needed to do was schedule their crew and they were very accommodating in when they would come out. I pushed them off on two occasions as my build was not on schedule. They readily rescheduled. After install and California Department of Fire passing the project, I needed to reduce the head extensions prior to the application of insulation. They sent someone the next day to accommodate me and have the modifications completed prior to insulation. This really has been one of the best choices I've made in this project. I recommend these guys 100%.

Not good DO NOT TRUST THE OWNER OF THIS BUSINESS! Our…read morecontractor hired them to install plumbing in our new build. All seemed ok UNTIL WE RECEIVED A LIEN ON OUR PROPERTY because the owner did NOT PAY his supplier. We paid OUR bill to this company but it appears that they pocketed the $$$ and decided that they would throw us into a potential foreclosure as we were named in the lien. This was our new build after loosing our home in the 2017 Tubbs Fire. I can't tell you the stress this company caused and the absolute disregard for the well being of our family. Reach out to me if you need details. I do not want this to happen to anyone else!!! I WISH THERE I COULD POST THIS WITH NO STARS!!! DO NOT HIRE THIS BUSINESS!!

What stood out about Chris is that while he was there an unrelated problem arose with my plumbing and he spent about 3 hours fixing it, and refused any additional compensation. That's unheard of in this day and age. Don't let one bad review sway you from a reviewer who seemingly likes to give bad reviews (you can see it on her account). If you hire Chris, you will get a 5-star guy who will give you the shirt off of his back. He's warm, friendly, knowledgeable and fair- exactly the type of guy and company you want to fix your stuff. I will definitely be using Chris for future projects!
