Food here is great best market I ever been too in down town area. I went in one day and was greeted and door was opened on the way in and out Jessie, blue, and Bert were on point with being very kind and accommodating with my needs. I would come back to buy my food here any day even if it's out the way it's just that good thanks Sam(owner) for keeping this place up and running like no other place in Chicago downtown. We live at the Lex. My son got us to start going to the store because the prices were slightly more reasonable than South Loop Market. But we will not ever be shopping in that store again. Tonight my husband walked in on the two middle eastern employees, and they were conversing and referred to black ppl as "a group of Niggas". One of the employees apologized but this is a classic example of blacks paying another races bills and them not thinking much of us. Not okay. I moved to this area a few months ago and have been eating here on & off for maybe 6 months. When I went in for dinner I noticed a new cashier, forgot her name but I remember it started with a L. First all the food is ALWAYS great but a little pricey. In my opinion tho if the food is good it's worth a few extra dollars. I do have to say that it was nice to see a fresh smiling face at the register. Everything ran so smoothly, even with a huge crowd waiting, I hope she's a permanent fixture because she handled her business which make my experience even better!!! It is still a convenient place but....the young kid at the register overcharged me for a few items. Just read the sign on the refrigerators. Also, the coffee was cold, you got to keep your coffee hot. They ran out of greek yogurt. I did like the boxed salad selections. They get a few stars for the convenience but deli is not open until closer to lunch time. In the morning, the coffee needs to be hot please.Thanks for having produce there. read more

I was recently staying at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place, to attend a conference at the McCormick Place Convention Center. I was excited to attend a conference in Chicago, but unfortunately this convention center is a $20 cab ride to downtown. As broke graduate students, our first goal in Chicago was to find a grocery store to stock our fridge so we wouldn't have to eat at restaurants three meals a day for five days! The only store within walking distance is McCormick Market. We made the short walk, and were happy to find a nice little market! The store: start with a 7-11, add a little deli section with yogurt, eggs, and standard grocery store items, then add a deli counter with Boar's Head meat and cheese, and you have yourself a nice little store to stock up your hotel fridge! I grabbed a couple donuts and muffins, skipped the hookahs (althought they had a nice selection), bought some yogurt, some cocktail mixers, chips, hummus, and other random items. The one bummer is that they do not sell any alcohol. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The store was clean and well-stocked. For an odd part of town, lacking much competition, I found the prices to be VERY reasonable. I expected a little store with ridiculous prices because you don't really have any other options, but I was pleased to find that they really didn't jack up any of the prices. Even the prices on the Boar's Head meat were right in line with the typical price for Boar's Head. Nice little store: friendly, clean and convenient! read more

Well, if u run out of all options for a veggie food, don't come here. It's a total rip-off. For a bland, cold veggie sub (not exactly a foot long with veggies) for $10. It's a tiny grocery store on Michigan and cermak but it does serve a purpose as there really is no other shop to buy all those grocery items. read more

Great store that was well overdue in opening in the Motor Row / McCormick Entertainment District. They will do very well. Correct, they do not sell alcohol; however it may not seem this way now, but this area will have many mid to high-end restaurants/sports bars that will need your business while in town vs grabbing something from a store and heading back into your hotel. Also, there are thousands of residents in the area that do NOT want a local store selling alcohol as it attracts the wrong crowd. Keep in mind that McCormick place is in a very safe area; however it is at the south end of the South Loop, so with the future Green Line CTA stop coming, it will need to stay a safe area. The store itself has everything you want and very friendly staff. read more

In less than a day's notice we were able to get 4 cases of produce and other miscellaneous produce items. The quality and freshness from this small market was unbelievable. The day before we purchased from a larger chain and there was no comparison in quality or customer service. Sam also loaded the produce into his van and took my co-worker and I to McCormick Place. This is a dearly needed addition to the neighborhood. It's no secret that the south loop is a bit of a food desert. This place is nothing fancy, but it has the essentials. The people are incredibly nice too-- After I cut myself pretty badly while prepping some food, I ran over to get some first aid items. The guy behind the counter, seeing how horribly I had damaged my thumb, gave me a few band aids for free. I very much appreciate it! I will definitely be back. read more
