On the way to Gig Harbor stopped for a little nature walk here at McCormick. The entire trail is about 2 miles, with branching and side paths along the way. The trails aren't complicated and are good for kids and pets. What I liked about the woods are the tall pine trees in and around it. It's very shady within, so even on a hot day like it was during this walk it was relatively shaded which is cool. (Literally). There are signs around with info and maps for direction which are fairly easy to read. It's mostly quiet but it's also somewhat close to the highway so you get a bit of that traffic noise mixed in with the ambience. The paths are clear and wide, but some of the side paths are narrow and not as trimmed if you want a bit more of a slightly rugged walk, unmaintained walk. The paths were dry, but I could see it being muddy after some rain so that could be a factor when choosing to come. Still the paths seem like they're decently maintained overall. There are signs encouraging walkers/hikers to alert park management of fallen trees/large branches so that they can be removed. There is parking right next to the park entrance and additional across the way in the Fire Dept. lot. I'd recommend McCormick for a quick, easy walk/run.

This park was semi hard to find! But I found it ! The trails god bless are not "rocky " they are smooth and easy to walk on. I had my 25lbs child on my chest so I was happy I didn't have to do crazy acrobatics to avoid a root or rock. I wish there was a better map to see what the are has to offer since I just heard the highway the whole time and wasn't sure which way to go so I just kept on the same path . But overall it is welcoming and I enjoyed it ! Very clean !

Playground by the Sound is the Chambers Bay park playground on the northeast corner of the park…read more Decent size parking lot, though it can be full on super nice days and in the summer (in a pinch I've parked along the road and walked back). The playground is split into an older kids side and a younger kids side, with 1 entry (and a fence surrounding). Visibility isn't perfect but the single entry point is great if you want to stand in the middle to keep an eye on kiddos. Great spot for play dates (come with a coffee!). There are portapotties at the park and a real restroom a small walk down the path. Park is great for kids to use their imaginations and play, which is so much fun. Great spot to bring a ball and play catch or picnic to sit and relax or bikes! Can get hot - wear sunscreen if the weather is nice. Friends said it's also fun to bring bikes or a stroller and hit up the cafe (a bit of distance from the playground) and have some sweet potato fries.

My kids love coming here to play, scooter and walk around on the paved trails surrounding the playground. The playground is divided with an area for toddlers (2-5) and older kids. Spacious parking lot and picnic tables as well around. Restrooms are nearby as well - they are well maintained and nice as far as public park restrooms go (heated in the fall/winter time). There is also a little library here too. I enjoy coming here every time!
