Cliffside stairs when you walk down toward the bridge side of the park

A neat spot with great views of the Narrows Bridge. It's a bit tricky to get into the parking lot if you've never been there, and I would advise walking to the left once you're in the sand. There is a local living in a house at the park and it feels like walking in someone's yard when you go to the right behind their house. It's all open beach, just my preference. We've seen bald eagles flying overhead, and have heard others mention they have seen orca pass through previously. It's a quiet bay front park with great water access for a walk or to chill by the water and relax.

This is a lovely little park that provides great views of the Narrows. Most of the park is beach, which is rocky and sandy. When I went there were some trees that look like they're going to fall down if you look at them wrong, but if you're willing to tempt fate you can go quite a way down the beach. Picnic beaches near the paved parking lot and (free) telescopes that would be great if the trees hadn't grown up. Effort was made! Overall a nice stop if you're in the area.

Beautiful area. Beach is not as rocky as others I have been to. Great for picnics and for enjoying a day out. Highly recommend. Great views!

Great out-of-the way park on the edge of Gig Harbor. We came by a little after 7:30pm on a weekday and we had the oark to ourselves. There aren't many amenities but it provides a wondeful view of the Tavoma Narrows Bridge.

Spectacular views. We came at a beautiful time and walked our lil puppy. It's a bit confusing but follow the signs. Parking is free and maybe I counted 10 stalls or more. There's a nice walking area but once your near the water its all sand and small rocks. Bring a picnic basket and blanket because it's such a great place for some food. Looking across is Tacoma side. I'll be back again! There are 2 private residence near by. It's ok to hang out away from there. No bathrooms but a portable bathroom is on site!

Can ya call it a Park if it doesn't have a picnic table !??! Small but it is worth a stop if you are in the area for the spectacular view of the Bridge. off the beaten path, a short drive down a very woodsy road and you arrive at what seems like someone's house but they do have a parking Lot for the Park. There's even a Porta-Potty in the Parking lot (Which proved to be useful) the "Park" has one small Gazebo, a couple free telescopes and beach access. Can't beat the view !!

This is by far one of the best parks in pierce county and gig harbor. Lots of beach to walk as well as lay out, if that's your thing.

Horseshoe Lake County Park is located in Kitsap County with a large lake, barbecues, picnic tables,…read morevolleyball court (on sand), playground and walking trails. Swimming, canoeing, kayaking and fishing is all allowed at this large lake. And this county park is also dog friendly. My husband, our little girl dog and I stopped by this park on a Thursday afternoon, a little before 1 pm. The reason why we came here was because we were looking for a park with barbecue grills because we had just purchased some raw, fresh oysters and clams from Minterbrook Oyster Farm and wanted to cook some up for lunch. A local at a nearby convenience store suggested this park and so we headed on our way (be sure to purchase charcoal if you want to use the park grills). Parking is plentiful, plenty of parks to provide shade and lots of grass available for our little girl to mark her territory. With a handful of barbecue grills, we decided to pick one by the volleyball court. My husband set up the grill and did the cooking (that is what husbands are for) and my little girl and I explored this large park in the meantime. There are restrooms by the playground, but I did not use it. Also during our visit, a park employee told us that he had to close the restrooms (due to some kind of plumbing problem) and that porta-potties will be delivered later today. This is a great park to have a family get together, picnic, friend gathering (play volleyball or bring your kayaks and launch off of here), fly your drone here or toy planes and play with your dog(s) here. If I lived closer, I would be out here on a regular basis.

This is a nice little spot to view the Arletta-Hale passage between Fox Island and the mainland…read more The sand spit also offers a place to watch for whale where they've been previously sighted (not on land, but at sea. Only one or two whale could fit on the spit at the same time). Like islanders of other varieties, some of the locals here are ultra-protective of this piece of "their" real estate, and outsiders are not welcome. The website and FAQ regarding this place come laden with more dire warnings than actual descriptions of the park, complete with a long list of "do not...or else's..." Part of what the locals "do not" want you to do is know about clay babies, an extremely unique geological phenomenon that is neither rock nor baby, but looks like a little voodoo doll or ginger bread man made by the earth, and found only a tiny handful of places in the world--including here. The locals may also not want you to know that Fox Island, and this portion of it, is one of the best (and only) places in the Tacoma metro area for safe shellfish harvesting (according to the online WA DNR interactive shell fishing map), and the beach is crusted over with a carpet of oysters, cockles, manila and butter clams, and geoducks--all of which seen to reach titanic sizes here, judging by the shells seen at low tides. The clams were so numerous and joyful, they were squirting and putting on such shoes that my fiancee likened it to the Bellahio fountains in Las Vegas. I pictured Beethoven's 9th playing as each one spurted higher into the air. And speaking of tides, their proximity to the high tide mark makes the park a great place to view these attractions, since you do not require a minus tide to see a vast array of salty critters here (even a .5 tide will reveal much). Seeing scuttling crabs, tiny anemones, barnacle skyscrapers, many species of clam, sea boogers, and other tiny, sticky things that cling to other tiny, sticky things--as well as funky chunkies, clay babes, muck suckers, and mud bumps only adds to one's sense of awe and wonder regarding the resplendent natural universe. Seeing these tiny sand travelers reminds us how little humans are, and what small a part human nature plays when immersed in the vast firmament of time. Here is a song about what not to do: If you're alive, do not breathe, and if you're here you need to leave Don't pick babes out of the clay But picking nits is quite okay If you park your car they'll hem and haw If your pup is loose they'll smack your paw. They'll stare at you with folded arms Pray they don't hit five alarms. Fear Fox Island Citizen Patrol And the disapproving eyes that roll While watching whales they're watching you You don't belong you best begone, their view Do not stop, do not get out Or risk a frown on pouty snouts
