Moved to the area from NY and have been searching for a vehicle. Found an 07 GMC SUV which I liked. The vehicle had been in two accidents and not repaired properly. Prior to offering to purchase the vehicle I brought the issues to the attention of Demarco the salesman. I made an offer and was told the manager declined. I then offered the asking price along with repairs needed to make the vehicle safe to drive off the lot and that offer was also declined. I've spent several days and many hours back and forth driving long distances to view this vehicle. I feel this dealership does not rely on integrity end I'm a very disappointed mew resident to the area. I'm baffled that cash in hand has NO power as it once held. I would not recommend this business to purchase a used vehicle, let alone a new one. read more

Several weeks ago, I noticed a gas odor coming from the rear of my Saturn Ion. Upon researching, I discovered that was a symptom of a fuel pump problem that was recalled by GM in 2010. I never received any notification of this recall. This dealer was the GM-recognized Saturn repair center following their closing of the Saturn brand. Naturally, I took my car to this dealer since it was a recall issue. When I explained this issue to Scott, I asked if there was a recall for this problem. He said "No.". I then provided him with the recall number. He looked up something on his computer and said I didn't qualify. I figured he probably didn't have any control over that, so I said I'd call GM and he said "You can try." My first sign of their lack of helpfulness. I called GM that day, received a case number and spoke to a very pleasant woman who seemed very interested in helping. She asked if I had the service advisor's direct number and I provided his desk phone and cell phone number. She put me on hold to call him. When she returned, she noted he did not answer either number but she left messages and would call me back the next day. When I picked up my car I asked Scott if he had talked to GM. He said he never received any calls or messages. Then just silence. No offer to call them, or try to help resolve the question. I asked if he would call her. "I'll try." was the response. Well, after a week of calls back and forth with GM, they finally were able to speak with someone in the service department and the dealer would not refund the charge. The reason, they stated, was because my car was over the milage limit for the recall. The only problem with that is that when the recall happened, I would have been under the limit. But I was never notified and if I had been, of course I would have had the part replaced. I am disappointed and disgusted with both this dealer and GM. The dealer tried to hide and avoid the issue, and GM was cowardly. The right thing to do would be to honor the recall because I was never notified. But they are using a false technicality to avoid responsibility. In reading various reviews of this dealership, I am now not surprised. If at all possible, I would avoid this dealer and I will do everything in my power to make sure that anybody I can warn about this dealer, I will. Shame on you, McCarthey Chevrolet. read more

UPDATE - Service Manager Rod Bowman was great to work with. He got a field engineer to help troubleshoot our new car's electronics when the camera they replaced still didn't solve the problem. Turns out part of the software wasn't installed at the factory, easy fix and we were able to pick up our car Friday. Full tank of gas, new cargo mat in back, washed and tires polished! That really is good service, thanks guys! Hopefully no problems. read more

Well run dealership. The guy I worked with (Ben Prentiss) was not pushy at all, didn't do any of the tricks to keep me on the lot or enter into any of the 4 square worksheet games that are so common. The sales manager called and met my aggressive target. Came in the next day and drove off with brand new 2016 Traverse. We were in a bit of a rush, the FI guy respected my statement that I didn't want to buy any additional services/products - he flew thru the paperwork process as fast as we could sign the paperwork. Ben literally took off running with the temp tag to put on the car and have us on our way. Recommend 100% - no games, just a good local biz. read more

Would certainly give them zero or negative stars if that were an option. I made an appointment to have 2 tires replaced on a 2014 Chevrolet Corvette last week. Explained that I would be bringing the tires in off the vehicle for the service to be completed. At the appointment the service tech insisted on running a code check and checking the mileage of the vehicle that I used to haul the tires in even though service was not going to be completed on that vehicle, said it was their policy there's no way around it. I asked to speak with the manager as policy made no logical sense. Manager supported my assumption that their policy did not apply to my situation. Service tech denied in front of his manager saying that that was their policy and lied to me in front of my face and his fellow peer service associates. I decided I didn't want to do business with a place with this moral character so I asked for my keys and took my tires to another dealership to be serviced. The previous service by McCarthy was for scheduled maintenance under warranty, and that was not completed in a satisfactory manner. Two for two failures. I purchased my truck from Olathe Chevrolet. My salesman was friendly and helpful, but that is where the good experience ended. Since purchase I have had issues that should have been caught by the inspection process they seem to be proud of. I have purchased my last few truck from McCarthy Chevrolet. I have had a great experience with the Lees Summit office and have been getting my vehicles serviced at that location for 15 years. I have recommended the Lees Summit Service shop to friends and family for years. I have taken it to the Lees Summit office twice. The first time I went to Lees Summit the mechanic caught a significant issue which had been causing my brakes to lock up randomly and unexpectedly (a major safety issue). I called Olathe and they told me to drive it 30 miles to their shop so they could take a look at it (seriously? my brakes didn't work and they want me to drive 30 miles on the highway). I told the Olathe dealership to pound sand and that I would not be doing this. Luckily the Lees Summit office took care of me within two hours (they really are awesome). Today I took my truck into the Lees Summit branch to get my oil changed. The mechanic came out and told me that my rear axel had been leaking for a while. I called the Olathe office and told them what was happening and they told me that they couldn't do anything to help me out. I plan to use Lees Summit service department but I don't think that after my experience in Olathe that I will purchase another vehicle from McCarthy. read more

I called in to ask a question about a feature on my father in laws new truck and the lady on the phone told me that they were "too busy with paying customers and would probably be able to help us out if we purchased the truck there" I wish I was exaggerating. They are more about money than actually doing a good job. Absolutely worst dealership I've ever dealt with. Found a used Ford Fusion online that they had. Called at 8:45am to ask of they still had it, was informed that they did and I told them I was at work and would be out at close to 1pm and that I was driving from close to Blue Springs. I kept in contact with them via text and let them know when we were on our way. They waited until I was 5 minutes away to tell me that the Fusion they had was sold early that morning. Upset but willing to give them a chance after they told me they had another on the lot, I went in. The Fusion they had was considerably more expensive, not to mention when I went to start the vehicle, the battery was dead (this is after the salesman told me about their 127 point inspection), test drove the vehicle and the salesman acted offended when I offered close to what the other Fusion was listed for, instead of trying to find some acceptable amount we could both agree on, also had a considerable cash down payment. He upsold me on GAP insurance, charged me more a month for it, then took my $6k downpayment and instead of sending it to my financer he put the entire amount to the dealership. So he could bonus more. SCAM! I've never heard of a downpayment being applied anywhere but the car. Please be aware and knowledgeable. Not to mention I have to keep driving back up to their dealership 45 mins away because they failed to give me all my paperwork. read more

We were on limited time and he made sure that things were rolling along as fast as possible. Not only was he our sales associate but I feel that we will become friends from this point on. Not even worth the one star. Called to have my Suburban looked at and was told they would assess the problem and let me know. Never mentioned any fee for doing so and after being quoted a ridiculous amount of money to fix the issue I decided to go elsewhere. They weren't even sure of the exact issue and wanted to charge me $625 to give me an exact cause. Upon pick up of the vehicle, the service manager Sean informed me of a $125 diagnostic fee and lied to my husband insisting he made me aware of the fee during our initial phone call. That is a bold face lie as he never once said there would be a fee associated with looking at my vehicle to determine what was wrong. If he had mentioned it during our initial phone call I wouldn't have been so upset but to spring that on someone because they decide to take their business elsewhere to save $2000 is absolutely bad business practice. Again, they didn't even know the exact cause and want to now charge me $125 to tell me it was something with the transmission. Really? I had no clue!!! Do yourself a favor and go to a local mechanic that is not part of a dealership who wants to rob your pocketbook and charge you hidden fees when you decide to go elsewhere. We drove four and a half hours from a different state to buy a truck from this dealership. They made us a good deal and we decided to go with them than another deal we had going from another dealership. They got us approved with a better rate as well. This was a great deal all around....until we got there. The 2020 Chevy 2500 High Country, that we drove four and a half hours to get, was not as it was described. "Perfect" was what Jamie Harrigan, our salesperson, described the truck as being, and that was far from the truth. My husband got out of the truck and went to look at it and the whole bed was pushed into the cab. If you look at the bed liner, the floor is separated from the front and very noticeable. When we told Jamie, he acted like he had no clue. How does a vehicle go through your shop and that get missed? I guess they thought that we wouldn't notice or we would and wouldn't care. They didn't offer to do anything for us. I went in to go talk to Eric, the sales manager, and he wouldn't even come down to talk to me. This dealership is a joke! We left without a truck. We drove out today to drive a used car we were very interested in and were prepared to cash buy if we liked it. On the test drive, Don raved about how their cars sell themselves and the dealership's presence speaks for itself. We really liked the car and when asked to make an offer, my husband gave a low ball offer which Don said was insulting or outrageous. My husband then said he made an offer when asked to do so and what was their offer back. With my wife sitting in the car, another man came out and drove my car around the parking lo and parked our car so that she was now sitting in the sun. They then said they would get back to me and I waited for another 15 to 20 minutes and then I said I was going to leave. Don said okay I will call you which has not happened. So I left and they lost out on selling a car this afternoon. They never negotiated or even talked to me about what they could offer for my car so I am done with this dealership. They didn't even offer me or my wife a bottle of water while we were waiting. Overall this was a very poor experience. After buying a new car in December and having a wonderful experience from another dealership, this was the exact opposite. read more

We had been looking for new cars online and in person. Well we went in person first and decided we would come back a few days later when we had more time. In the meantime we saw one online which was exactly what we wanted, so we came back in to check it out a few days later. We asked for the first guy we worked with named Terry. We gave him the stock #, and he comes rolling up with the wrong car! I said this isn't the right car. He said yes it is, I said no and I showed him the screen shot that I had taken on my phone. It turns out the dealership had posted the wrong photos under the wrong car, with the wrong price. Anyway, Terry was trying to act like it was OUR fault. Well he kept getting up and walking off to do things while we were sitting there. He also started raising his voice at me, and saying he didn't understand why I didn't want to add aftermarket things to the car. HELLO! If I'm going to spend over $28k on a new car, it's going to have everything I want it to have from the factory. We decided to get up and leave. A few minutes after we left my phone rang, it was Terry badgering me on the phone telling me to come back, and saying that he had found us a car that we would love! And that we could add leather seats to it. We ended up driving to another dealership and we purchased a new car that exact day, and from someone who was polite and did not pressure us at all. Let me also say that the first day we came in Terry left us to go work with another person so Ben came to help us. Ben was amazing! No pressure and very polite! The second time we came in though Terry was very rude and overbearing. Also, that first day the manager came out and was trying to say he had to sell these cars and blah blah. They are too high pressure when it comes right down to it. Ben the salesman has it down, he isn't pushy at all. In the past we had purchased a brand new Silverado from McCarthy. But from now on, we won't be going back. They just missed out on making $28k or more off of us, and they can thank Terry for that! We tried to go back to Ben the second time we came back but Terry flagged us down before we even got to the door. Whatever you do, go somewhere else to buy a car. I live in Lubbock Texas. I found a car online and worked out the details over the phone. I rented a car and drove 700 miles to pick up the car up in Olathe Kansas Where the dealership was located . After all the paper work was done and we drove off the car had and electrical problem that caused the gas gauge to show empty when you fill the gas tank up. Since this was a use car they never fill the gas tank up so this problem went unnoticed . At this point is where you find out if you are dealing with a credible car dealer that cares or just one that is interested in the numbers only. We had completed the deal and this problem came up. The repair was going to cost $1100 since they had to pull the rear end out to get the gas tank out to replace the part, very labor intensive. Also the parts would have to be ordered so the repair would take several days to complete, but we could no wait since we had to get back to our jobs in Texas on Monday. So at this point I was very upset so they let me out of the car deal and I rented a car a second time to drive back home. Now they did not have to do that since I had already completed the paperwork and the deal was done and we had driven off. But they did just to make it right. Think about that, how many car dealerships do you think would do this. Also I was from out of state and the odds of me ever buying a car from them again will very slim. so this in itself is very impressive. Once the owner of the company found out what had happened they called me and offered to fix the car at no extra charge and also discounted the price of the car to make up for my out of pocket cost to rent a car for a second time and hotel expenses a second time. And if that where not enough my salesman (Carl) offered to drive the car half way to me on the next Sunday so I didn't have to come as far. So we took the deal and Carl and his wife took a Sunday out of their life to deliver the car to me in Oklahoma City the next Sunday. My son needed a car quickly after his was totaled by the insurance company after he was rear ended. We made an appointment and went on Saturday. I understand that Saturdays are busy, but as soon as they found out that we needed to buy today, we were rushed through and I feel like we were taken advantage of. We were in a small office that also had another family purchasing a car from the same salesman, Wayne. There were actually two families in it while we were there. That made it hard to talk to anyone and the second families children were screaming almost the whole time they were there. The car we came to look at was advertised as silver, but was actually baby blue. It was the type of car that my son was looking for besides the odd color and so we asked if there was anything else they had. We were told no, that that was the only car that fit what he wanted. Reluctantly we purchased the car as my son needed to return to college out of state that day. There were a few different people that came in during the paperwork process, that along with the chaos of the other family sitting behind us, made it difficult to know what was going on or to ask questions. The entire time of looking at the paperwork we were not really told anything about the extra fees that were charged and did not have the option to not accept a $700 fee for them to fix dents in the future and get a loaner car for repairs (my son does not even live in the state). During the visit my phone was dead and I was not able to look up their other inventory. Open arriving home, I did and found that there was a similar vehicle for a little more money that was a color my son would have much preferred. I am upset that we were not even given that option. Long story short, my son does have a vehicle, but we did not have a good experience at the dealership and will likely not be back. EDIT: Wayne at McCarthy worked to make the situation better. We have resolved our issue and appreciate the quick response to our concerns. read more

Some of the sales associates are rude and unprofessional. No communication between the sales team and service department. But the main thing is you pay for an extended warranty and there is a 60% chance they will not honor it. Over priced, mostly substandard service. Made an appointment with them, but they acted like I did something wrong when I came in as they had no idea I was coming in. Got two windshield sprayer pieces replaced and cost me $200 for two little pieces of plastic in a five year old car that is parked in the garage at all times. Just feels like my Chevrolet was built using very poor quality materials and then I have to pay through the nose for things that really should not go bad in that short amount of time. Got an oil change and they forgot to reset my oil information in the information center of the dashboard. Had to figure that out using youtube. All-in-all I am disappointed with the Olathe KS dealership. read more

The service is absolutely rude. Worst customer service ever. I had to talk to a manager in sales just to get some help. I bought a brand new Trax and the AC went out and its 100 degrees. They got the part, and they wanted me to wait till next week to bring my car in. I couldnt wait so I came in to see if I could get a rental, and the service department told me I was SOL. I walked over to sales and they immediately got me a rental car. Your review helps others learn about great local businesses. I buy a car with a warranty and these people can't even perform an oil change properly. I have had the car for three months and the Check Oil Level light came on. Upon inspection I found a that the car was 3 quarts low on oil! I looked under the vehicle and saw no leaks, weeps or seeps whatsoever. So, I had a friend drive the car while I followed in another. No smoke came out of the vehicle and the engine is performing just fine. I added the additional 3 quarts as to not burn up the motor until I could get to the dealership to have it looked at. I called and spoke to the newly appointed Pre-Owned Manager who said he would get me back to service to have them take a look at the vehicle (which essentially is a way for him to get rid of an irate customer that has a good and 100% valid point). He sends me back to the service department and I tell them about the oil level issue. They decided that I was an idiot, I guess, so they decided to write it up as "car is using oil, customer states" which I NEVER stated. Also, the TPMS system kept showing the left front sensor dropping out so I wanted them to look at that as well. The next day I get a call saying that they couldn't find any leaks (it's nice to know these guys waste their technicians time looking at things that are 100% obvious to anyone) and my TPMS system is 100%! There was apparently a recall on the Oil Pan gasket that was ISSUED BY GM, that the "warranty company isn't going to cover". When I asked of the condition of the engine he couldn't tell me anything because the technician had not done what I asked because the service writer decided I didn't know what my car was doing so he wrote it up completely wrong. Today I get in my car to go to work (One day after I pick up the car) and the AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON along with the TPMS that has now mover from the left front to the right front (It has a bad sensor, but that would require them fixing something and admitting they were wrong) So now, I get to live with an Air bag light, a mystery engine that may or may not fail due to the negligence of a technician that did not perform an oil chance and an incompetent service writer who did not hear what I asked them to do and decided to make his own decision on what MY car is doing. This place is a joke. I wouldn't recommend my worst enemy stop at that place to take a leak. I guess I will have to go to a real dealership that has some integrity to check out my engine to ensure no damage has been done. AVOID AT ALL COSTS, unless you like being jerked around and treated like an idiot by people who don't listen. Initially the person working with us was great. They helped to try to find a vehicle that was in our budget and that worked for us. After the initial salesman everything went downhill. Being a first time car buyer, both me and my husband got taken advantage of by McCarthy (Olathe, KS). The end price we agreed on was $19,000 (after taxes and fees) but we when everything was said and done, we ended up paying over $24,000. We knowingly added a protection plan and GAP insurance, but there were back end prices that they were not up front about. We didn't see this final number until we went back to get the car deed and receipt for the car the 2 weeks later. After reviewing the 'itemized list' of charges, nothing lined up and several things were added or missing. After THREE emails to the person that sold us the car he finally responded nearly a month later and just pushed us on to his manager. We ended up getting a small amount back after this. What they didn't tell us was, the money we were getting back was actually for canceling our protection plan. So, nearly a year later we were trying to get our windshield fixed after a rock cracked it (covered under the protection plan) and come to find out, we are no longer covered. I would never go back to this place and would NEVER recommend them to any of my friends or family. read more

**My 3-star rating is because my service technician was fantastic (FIVE STAR), but GM in general is not worth ANY stars at all. The service man who worked with me throughout this incredibly long process was wonderful. Ken was constantly apologetic about the extremely long wait for parts from GM for my Saturn. He understood and respected my frustrations. When I took those frustrations out on him a few times, he allowed me to be angry, while understanding that it was NOT him I was angry with. Though I am not sure I will ever own a GM vehicle again because of this recall process, I will certainly take an extra moment to make that decision strictly because of Ken. And should he ever leave McCarthy, I would like to know where he goes so that my vehicles may follow him. For over 14 years, I have owned 3 different Saturns. I was devastated when GM decided to no longer produce them. I knew that would cause issues if my car ever needed repairs, but I NEVER imagined a recall (regardless of how large the recall was) would result in a seven-month process. My ignition switch required additional attention. After waiting 7 weeks for the initial part to come in, I dropped my car off at McCarthy, only to learn the next day of the additional parts needing replacing. I jokingly asked Ken, "So is this going to take another 7 weeks to get these parts in?" He replied, "I sure hope not." FOUR MONTHS later....I have my car back. My Saturn sat at McCarthy for FOUR MONTHS!! Thankfully, I was in aplace to not need a rental, though one was offered to me free of charge. What I do not understand is how GM can pay for a rental for 4 months, times however manhy millions of people need them. Would it not be cheaper, and faster, to just buy my car from me? In four months, GM would have spent nearly $4,000 on just a rental for me. My 11 year old Saturn isn't even worth that much money. I would have rather GM purchased my car from me for that amount and called it a day. I could have slightly upgraded to another vehicle, saved Ken the hassle of my crankiness during this process, and saved GM the cost of making and then replacing the part(s). The generic ignition switch is a $15 part. I have no doubt that the total cost to replace just the parts on my car are under $100. Yet GM was prepared to spend THOUSANDS of dollars. That is not only completely insane, it is irresponsible. What a complete waste of money. What a complete joke of a way to run a company. I am embarrassed to have been this loyal to GM for this long. But, and I stress this, Ken is THE ONLY REASON I will reconsider ever owning another GM vehicle. He was perfect in every way. ANd if and when McCarthy loses him due to this fiasco, I will not only NOT be surprised, but I will do my best to find out where he goes next, and follow him there.
