If you don't want your money supporting that, there are plenty of other hardware stores where you'll actually feel like a customer instead of an outsider. And skip signing up for Ace Rewards--no reason to let them track you on top of everything else. Alright! I definitely love the layout of the store they have everything you can think of when it comes to home improvement. I have never seen so many BBQ seasonings in my life with the craziness names. In a good way! Lol, I think I'm hooked on the new home improvement store. The store manager Ron was very nice and helpful. He even almost got us on the big green egg. I have been eyeballing them for a long time. my sister and I spent well over $1000 in this location. most of the money was for a Weber Griddle Grill and all the accessories. I believe in shopping small and chose this store instead of a big box location. We were sold the wrong size grill cover, the Ace Hardware people picked out the cover, not us. Our patio was finally finished do today we finally put the grill out, only to discover we were sold the wrong size grill cover. When we tried to exchange it for a larger cover, we were told we could not. Our dog literally ripped up the box which we didn't mind as we assumed it would fit. Spoke with the owner, he didn't care. said it was past the return date. We were stunned by his attitude and arrogance towards us. I will not spend any of my money in this store! I usually shop at Lowe's, but I decided to give this Ace Hardware store a chance. I've been there the past few weekends getting the yard and pool ready for summer. I thought I needed a capacitor for a motor, but it turns out I didn't need it after all. When I tried to return it, the manager refused, explaining that their policy is no returns. I guess I'll be going back to Lowe's for better customer service. I spend about $3,000 a year on home improvement, and now you lost my business over a $17 capacitor. read more

Horrible customer service and even worse management team. They make up a "storm policy" that doesn't allow a customer to return a product that never worked in the first place. The female manager is a pathological liar. Never go to this location. I tried to shop local but clearly that doesn't work at this location. Do better. The staff, Keegan, actually yelled at me when I asked why I could not return an item that a different staff member, Benjamin, said I could return if I found it was not what I needed and had my receipt. This store will not accept returns for any item that they consider a "storm item." Unused, unopened items that you gave a receipt for proof of purchase to show. We just had a hurricane. i get that certain items should not be returned because they have been used. Our community is hurting and this business is profiting off of items that people bought that they thought were necessary but turned out not to be. People need to be able to return u used items and get a full refund. Not a generous thing to do. Greed is a bad thing and these store owners are greedy! read more

When he tried to take it back because it didn't fit after all they refused to take it back because it was out of the packaging !!! He had all pieces, open packaging, and the receipt. Absolutely horrible owners. My partner and I tried to return our well pump that was unopened and uninstalled due to the company we called using their own pump (which was told to the owners). Starting out they refused to even listen, but once policy was brought into play it suddenly changed to "well let me reach out to the manufacturer". My partner left a review and due to her review they called her and left a voicemail stating "we will not be contacting the manufacturer due to your review". As someone who is well aware of how businesses work, stopping customer service simply due to a review is absolutely ridiculous and childish. In their reply to her review they state "we could tell it had been removed" which is absolutely absurd because believe me if that pump could've saved us money on our final bill we would've used it. The owners are childish and we will absolutely be contacting corporate as well as the Better Business Bureau. read more

Horrible customer service and manager! They made up a 'storm' policy that they won't take back items unopened in the original packaging an hour after the purchase... and expect you to read a sign on a back wall to know about it. I tried to return an overpriced gas can that my son in law asked me to buy for him (They had sold all they had that morning when i was there). He called an hour later to tell me he found one so i took it back. my receipt states that they will refund product for 30 days in original packaging and unopened, which mine was. Manager was very rude and kept saying 'we have signs' ! They never said i could not return it when i bought it. Called back when i got hime and read the receipt that clearly states they will issue refund and the manager hung up on me. Called customer service for corporate and a week later they offered me a $10 coupon off of a future purchase. No thanks! Ill drive across town to Lowes or Home Depot from now on and suggest all of you do the same. They have NEVEr denied a refund on products even after 30 days and after packaging has been opened. First off I love Ace Hardware. They usually have what you need at a good price, and they stock a lot more than you think, they stock a lot in a small space and it appears they have everything the big box competitors have. Secondly I like knowing I'm supporting a family business instead of a large corporation. Ace has always given me good service, and where do you go nowadays where they come to you and ask if they can help you, no where. This particular store in Gastonia NC is brand new, so we're gonna have to give them a fair chance, they may make a few mistakes, but personally, I'm so glad we have an ACE here close to home now and I know they will be a great addition to the local consumer community. I welcome you with open arms and are so glad you chose Gastonia to open up a new ACE Hardware store. read more

My husband and I ordered a small grill while at the store and was told by the sales person they offered free assembly and delivery. As I was filling out the application for their rewards program I noticed that it stated free assembly and delivery for items purchased over $399. Since our order came to $248 I questioned if we qualified and was told by another employee since we were already told that by the sales person that they would honor that. Yesterday I received a call from the store stating that our grill was available for pickup and mentioned that it was to be assembled and delivered per what we had been told. Then Sandra was given the phone and she proceeded to argue with me about what their policy was and that no one had told me otherwise. The other two employees involved apparently backed up this version not wanting to lose their job for telling a customer otherwise. Sandra was rude and unapologetic. This store not only lost a sale, but also a customer. Very poor management skills and appalling customer service. We will continue to do business at Lowe's where we can be assured we'll be treated with courtesy. We are now awaiting our refund to our credit card and then we can put this unbelievable experience behind us. Future customers be forewarned!. read more

Worst customer service I've ever experienced. Even with the management. I would highly caution anyone who is considering shopping at this locally owned Ace Hardware! Especially if there is ever a need to return an item that was not able to be used for what it was intended to be used for. All because the packaging was cut. That was the only way to get the product open because it was in a plastic sealed packaging. This is why I will shop at a big chain store from now own. Like Lowe's or Home Depot. I can guarantee if I purchased this item there they would have at least let me exchange it for a different item or even refunded my money. Bad business if you ask me!!!
