First off this place is a dive - and I love dives. If they used to offer food, I believe that ship has sailed. This is from what I can tell a locals bar. As we entered it was obvious that it is a smoking bar - if you're good with that ya gotta have a drink. The Bloody Mary special is something like I've never seen. The Bloody Mary is adorned with two pretzels, a fresh stalk of celery, a Jell-O shot in plastic container, a slim Jim still in plastic, a cheese stick still in plastic and a skewer loaded up with a cherry tomato, artichoke heart, miniature pickle and a hunk of salami. Holy hell!! Prices for all drinks were cheap - decor is old, nostalgic and some parts of it look like it came out of a library. Lots of oak along the wall behind the bar and bricks on the outside wall. Great spot for a pint or two. read more

We love dive bars, and got a tip that McCabe's would be a good one. We were not disappointed! The place is a typical dark Irish pub with a lot of memorabilia around from Ireland. Fun to look at. The place stank of cigarettes and spilled beer - just what I would expect from a dive bar. We were disappointed that they don't serve any food, as we were looking for a bite of lunch. You can order from someplace nearby and they would deliver, but we decided not to. But we did enjoyed 2 Harps from the tap and spending a little time in McCabes. read more

Three or four stars is where I'm at. Great regular crowd. The Guinness was delivered as if the Pub was was on a clipper ship during a hurricane, but I happily choked down several Imperial Pints. 3 stars because I was hangry and I'm from liberal Austin and we don't have smoking in bars, but when in Rome.....I'll be back and so should you. read more

OK how can a Irish Pub with live music right across from the water after an amazing dinner at Pier 22 be bad. Our bartender was actually from Dublin (I am definitely a fan of this man) He was very impressed with my "Car" bomb abilities. Friendly bartenders, the owner makes you feel like an old friend and they have Young's Double Chocolate Stout on draft. Desert in a glass. In terms of a spot to drink it's a pretty cool, gritty little place. People are friendly and decor is cozy. No food.

Moved to Bradenton area in early August 2019 from MN. Would HIGHLY recommend avoiding this bar! Me and a few of my family members stopped in for a drink 3 days after Christmas my second time in this bar. My group ordered drinks and received them I ordered last, my MN drivers license was expired a month or so ago and have not received my new one. (This was a big problem being 37 and all) I was immediately told I have to leave the bar. I sat by my family not drinking had not drank all night. I told the waitress we would leave as soon as drinks were finished. It was also pouring rain outside. She left to find reinforcements down the street to kick me out. On the sidewalk we met her and her buddy, they were not happy to see us outside the bar. My younger brother a Marine Corp Vet was only one left inside to be confronted. Wow what a terrible place! They thought we were vacationers with no respect for local ppl trying to have a good time with their family. Do not enter if you are not a bar local! Unreal the disrespect! Wish I could rate a zero worst bar experience possible. read more

I loved Rasher Tierney's and was heartbroken when they closed. Was SO thrilled to hear the owner kept the Irish Pub going in downtown Bradenton. Had to call three separate times to get answers to: Do you have live traditional Irish music? (two of the three ladies that answered the phone had NO idea). Once assured that, yes, on Saturday they have live music, could NOT get an answer as to WHO was playing, nor what genre of music. I was told in no uncertain terms that McCabe's did NOT serve food of any kind. Showed up about 20 minutes before band was to start - surprise, surprise: nearly everyone was smoking! My mistake - in Michigan we did the "ban smoking and the bars will fail" (they didn't). As I am disabled by lung disease and need supplemental oxygen to live, this was an issue. Did get served lovely Bushmill's and Bass Ale waiting for band. Turned into a duo (guitar and violin); guitar amped up so high couldn't hear the violin most of the time (we where 8 feet from the stage); and the singing was more shouting than anything else. To complete the evening, I have no idea what genre the duo was playing, but it certainly was NOT traditional Irish!! If you want to go to a VERY loud, smokey, dark bar - McCabe's is for you. If you're looking for an Irish pub with music and good craic - it's NOT!! read more

I've been here many times and enjoy the staff (Kyra was very welcoming and talked to us for quite awhile) and people watching. I felt compelled to write this review because I was there on Monday, 12/19 and have to say that this was the cleanest bathroom of any bar I have ever visited. It looked like it had been scrubbed with care and the pleasant smell made me think I was in a sanitary hospital ward or something. Also, the juke box selection was amazing. Whoever was playing it on this day was spot on with their selections! Rock on!!! read more
