My son may be an alcoholic, but he is an honest person. When he left after one day at this facility, and told me in sober detail what he experienced and saw in that 24 hours, I was mortified. Besides that, his medications needs were overlooked and it was other clients which ran and got the attention of the missing in action staff, and they at last gave him the medication to stop shaking violently (people DO die from alcohol withdrawal!).
Activity lists are written and posted and not followed at all. The clients were plopped in front of a TV set all day, DVDs put on. No therapy or groups commenced all day. Clients spoke out loud and freely, unsupervised, about plans to go out and get drugs. A man groped a woman on the couch behind my son as they sat watching tv. *he could hear the sounds of their sexual activity and the woman moaning*, and no staff came in or checked or made it end so they were all subjected to this. They watched movie after movie.
My son, not being helped and having had enough, left.
No healing can happen at this place. I imagine someone who doesn't know my adult son would say "that's just the words of an alcoholic, he's probably lying", and I'd be doubtful too if I didn't know my son. But this absolutely happened. If your loved one really needs help, don't waste their time sending them here. This place collects money from insurance companies and offers nothing in return. At least it didn't during my son's crucial 24 hour stay. He is now home drinking himself to death again. Thanks for nothing, MCCA! read more
