He told me I actually needed to add sand and some embers which would remedy the hissing noise (I had cleaned all that out thinking the lava rock was sufficient...ha!). I went to the store and the person I spoke to (didn't catch a name) clearly explained the steps to take and also gave me a written document which he highlighted. I purchased the sand and embers and easy peasy I have a functioning fireplace that looks new again. Grateful I asked questions and impressed there was NO hard sell to purchase a new insert.

Without going into detail, he became angry when I had questions, and hung up on me. (I was not angry-ironically was preparing to tell him a friend had recommended him and schedule.) I called back and left a message that I found his behavior unprofessional and I was leaving a bad review. (I wasn't out to blindside him online-not trying to tank his business- but I wanted him to know this was REALLY not okay. I guess I hoped it wouldn't happen to someone else.) I should have known better. I received three texts personally insulting me, my contractor, etc. etc. from him. Clearly not a good fit and will not be working together so I almost didn't do a review. I can't review the work quality. But I thought a heads up may be appropriate in case this happens again. Sometimes it is hard to find a good fit. Hopefully it was just him having a bad day but...I think it is weird that I have to block someone with whom I had a pretty short phone call. (Technically two short calls. The house was built in 1954-55. Prior to our purchase of the house, it had received a new roof, new triple pane double hung windows, some electrical work and a bathroom remodel, due to old plumbing issues. That remodel left the 1954-55 era bathtub in place, with a couple of gnarly, rusting gashes in it's original finish. When I saw the sad looking tub in the newly refreshed bathroom, I was unhappy. We started researching refinishing companies, deciding on All America Fine Finishes. When Ken and his assistant worked their magic on our tub, it was PERFECT! The tub looked brand new! It GLEAMED! It has been over 4 years since the work was done and the tub still gleams. I thought that very thing when I was giving the tub its cleaning the other day, thinking then, I should write this review. AND, another thought to add...Ken is a caulking magician!! I would love to learn how to lay down a line of caulking as seamless and smooth as this man can do!! AWESOME!

Fast forward and we are selling the house and decided to use this gentleman's company again. On the day I reached him he was out a few hours later to give a bid. He used a ladder. Many contractors don't, which is surprising. The following day the estimate was received. It's best to obtain several estimates. This company had provided quality work but they are extremely expensive. Yes, I've heard the saying "You get what you pay for." However, when estimates are priced based on line by line items instead of per project; it can become unclear if someone is trying to take advantage of a project or is providing a high bid because they are too busy to accept a new project. Make sure when hiring a contractor you purchase the materials for the identical cost that the contractor would have purchased them, too.

They kept messing up the base trim around the house. They had to keep coming out to "fix" their issues, but eventually my GC called out his Handy Man to tear out sections and replace it. Such simple things that I could have done myself better, and now I'm stuck living with this on a brand new build out. Avoid them if at all possible, I would never call them for even something simple. They came out to install some barn door guides and even split the trim and just left, again my GC had another guy come out and clean up their mess. On top of that, my basement smelled like an ashtray for a few hours after one of their guys left. It was impressive just how bad of a job their guys did, they clearly knew they were doing crap work and just left, I guess hoping no one would notice.

I called to request a re‑service and was told we would receive a call beforehand to ensure the leaves were picked up. That call never came. Instead, your team returned and treated the yard again over the same leaves.
