And who better to resurface a tub than a business by the epic name of Mr. Resurface? I contacted them through Yelp and the first of my many e-mail exchanges with Ernest resulted in just a few hours. The communication was fantastic -he was super responsive and we handled everything (pricing, options, deposit, appointment) electronically. He arrived as scheduled around 9:30 on Friday and he was finished around 3:00. He was very polite, professional, thorough, neat, and a real pleasure to deal with. He set up a venting system (that looked like a giant caterpillar) down our center hallway into a bedroom window to evacuate the fumes from the resurfacing spray -that was a very nice touch. We added on for a non-slip treatment to the tub floor and a professional caulking job around the tub/floor and tub/wall joints. The finished job looks fantastic and we were very happy with the work Ernest did.

So very disappointed! This was a multi-month long granite countertop purchase and installation…read moreprocess. Paid downpayment on 8/3. Template made 10/3. Install on 10/13 (one day late). I am attaching photos. I was excited when a man about 70ish came to do the initial measurements. I had no doubt he was a master craftsman and was thrilled. But the template was made by, I think his son. He aslo did the install. His sister called the night before he was supposed to be installing, that he was sick so it was installed a day later than agreed upon which messed up a plumber. I inspected the job before I cut the check. Only because I mentioned these problems did he confess to them. He would have left without pointing them out. I paid the full price which makes me incredibly gullible. You can see the gap of over an inch from the granite to the west side wall. You can also see where they cut into a wooden chair rail too far on the edge of the eastern side. The heartbreaker was that the puppy didn't match the grain on the two opposing ends. The center piece (sink) was laid east to west but the two side counters were cut north to south. I expected the grain to be in one direction as we bought a huge slab. The edge of the east block to the north/south block isn't flush. It was a poor job that I waited for since August (July if you count our going to the stoneyard in Windsor). I've wanted a granite countertop my whole adult life and was in tears after they left because it cost a fortune and wasn't done well. It was a poor job that cost a fortune and took months. I CANNOT RECOMMEND as the son is more an apprentice who should learn more from his elder/master before being given his own install.

They have over 125 samples of kitchen and bath vanities on display, and that's pretty darned impressive. We are remodeling our bathrooms and placed orders to replace the vanities in the first two. Each bathroom followed the same process -first we met with a designer and gave them an idea of what we were looking for- size, style, finish, hardware, etc. Then they gave us a few pricing options before we returned a second time to place our order. The cabinets aren't in stock, they get delivered to their warehouse in Waterbury, and that takes a few weeks. Once they are in, you can either pick them up at the warehouse or get them at the Southington store if you want to. If your vehicle isn't big enough, they can deliver for a charge. We were able to fit the vanity and counter box into our vehicle, but the warehouse guy opened up both boxes first so we could carefully examine everything before we drove away. For our first purchase, we worked with Tom who was so helpful and knowledgeable. He made the transaction quite pleasant. We picked up our vanity and countertop today (they look great) and will have them installed by our plumber in a few days. We paid around $450 for a gorgeous vanity and countertop in colors and styles that perfectly complement our newly renovated bathroom and move it from the 1970's into the 21st century. Could we have gone cheaper at a different store? Probably. But could we have received the same wide spectrum of products, level of amazing customer service, undivided attention, and expert advice and guidance that Tom gave us? No way. Vanity #2 has been ordered and we will order #3 down the road.

It's important to me to hire only trustworthy people when it comes to my house and I was absolutely comfortable leaving them alone in my house. I visited another local shop near them and it was very subpar and hire workers they only pay cash to sell cheaper stone. This tactic is upsetting to me because I know what's it's like to run a small business and going with the cheaper guy usually results in the quality of work. Travis has come through for us many times over two houses. He's done everything from installing…read morewater for a laundry area in a basement, fixing a bathroom sink issue, kitchen remodel, follow up on a home inspection, clogged toilet, and installation of an on-demand hot water tank. I would have also had him do a second tank for for my MIL's apartment but he wasn't available because he was attending a national plumbing conference. ( I like that he continues to keep himself educated about what is going on in his field.) Since I had to go with someone else, he told me exactly what to ask for and what to expect to pay including a part that would extend the life of my new hot water tank. The company I went with initially didn't want me to add that part to the sale but I insisted. This year when he came to fix an issue with that tank which was still under warranty, not only did he deal with the warranty people which I really appreciated, I was also able to see first hand how that part the he suggested had save my tank from potential damage by collecting small metal fragments that could have ended up in the actual tank. He adds this standard on any installation of this kind of tank. To me that shows the honesty and integrity he works with. There is no doubt in my mind that he takes pride in the work he does.
