And who better to resurface a tub than a business by the epic name of Mr. Resurface? I contacted them through Yelp and the first of my many e-mail exchanges with Ernest resulted in just a few hours. The communication was fantastic -he was super responsive and we handled everything (pricing, options, deposit, appointment) electronically. He arrived as scheduled around 9:30 on Friday and he was finished around 3:00. He was very polite, professional, thorough, neat, and a real pleasure to deal with. He set up a venting system (that looked like a giant caterpillar) down our center hallway into a bedroom window to evacuate the fumes from the resurfacing spray -that was a very nice touch. We added on for a non-slip treatment to the tub floor and a professional caulking job around the tub/floor and tub/wall joints. Mr. Resurface's work on our bathtub truly transformed our aging bathroom in the space of 4 hours Our tub dates back to when our home was first built in the 1950s, and its surface was a mess -- its surface that a previous owner had reglazed was stained, scarred (by the metal frame of sliding glass doors), and sealed by aging caulk. By the time Ernest finished, the tub was bright, gleaming white; the floor of the tub had a new anti-slip surface; fresh silicone caulk had been meticulously applied around all its borders. I should add that he took great care, from start to finish, to do his work in a way that left the bathroom in which he had been working, as well as adjoining spaces, clean and rapidly losing the inevitable odor of the resurfacing process. Ernest covered surfaces (walls and floors) to protect them; using a powerful fan and lengthy flexible duct, he vented the air of our small bathroom out a window in an adjoining room as well as through the open window of the bathroom itself. When his work was done, there was little smell left behind anywhere except in the bathroom itself--and that dissipated quickly just by leaving its window open with a small fan going for a few hours. The only trace of Ernest's work was that our tub looked great -- virtually new!! My wife and I enthusiastically recommend him to anybody hoping to transform an old tub for an eminently reasonable price. read more

Incredible job! My porcelain tub and grout were in dire need of a refinish. It was badly stained with layers of scum. In just a few hours he refinished it and it looks sparkling new! Mr Resurface refinished my fiberglass bathroom shower stall. He arrived on time, performed the refinishing in just a couple of hours, and cleaned the area upon completion. A few days later I noticed two locations with very minor paint sag in areas were it was very difficult to apply the finish and also a couple of areas where dust had settled on some horizontal surfaces so they were slightly rough to the touch. I contacted Ernest and he promptly came out and wet sanded/buffed the areas and now you can't tell there was ever any problem. I was very satisfied with the results. Disappointed with the job done by Ernest. He providing caulking at no charge. Great! But, he did not ask me before hand if I wanted the caulking done (he charges extra for it and I planned on doing it myself). He did it because he said it would look good. He said there was too much of a gap in the seam. It's because his pre-work instructions say to remove all old caulk. But, he did a poor job doing it. He left bumps above the caulk at the seam and did not smooth it out. When I told him it would need to be fixed, he said he would come back the next day to sand it out and repaint it. Then he said it would cost me an extra $95. So, he did the caulking for free, but did a poor job of doing it, and wanted me to pay $95 to fix it. Huh?Then he said I could sand it out and if I wanted to drive to his show room, he would give me the paint. What? Meanwhile, the second line of his invoice says: "Repairs due to defects in material or workmanship will be made free of charge during the first 30 days." Really disappointed with the final job. read more
