This place was just awful! The lines were backed out the door, and it was eerily quiet in there. It felt awkward to even be standing in there. And, when I was looking through the windows into the back, I saw an employee take off her shoe, and put it in the dish sink with the clean dishes! It was disgusting! I had time to observe all of this because of the extremely slow line. And what food do you get for waiting in this horrendously long line? A meh sandwich that feels like it could be bought at a gas station, and some half cold soup because it was waiting in the windows forever. In short don't eat here. Unless your itching for a bad sandwich served on someones shoe. If you want a better sandwich place in the area, I recommend Cappriotti's. read more

It's too bad about this place. It used to be pretty good. Just ate today, new menu is almost entirely spicy options which is not my jam. So you're limited on choices if you're like me. I also had a "reward" for a free entree which apparently doesn't include a 12" French Dip but only a 6" one. Chose a ham and cheese melt instead. There was almost no meat on the sandwich. Also added a drink to my meal which was $4.14 after tax. For a drink? It costs your business about $.50 to fill that cup and if I get 1 refill you've still made $3. It's absurd. Additionally, the server who made my drink filled the entire cup with ice. Like FULL. So, I get about 6 oz of soda in a 24 oz cup. Good grief. The food here is really good! I love the sandwiches, soups, and fresh fruit. I haven't tried their baked potatoes, but I'm pretty sure they are good as well. When dining in, you order at the voucher counter then they give you a number for your table abs the bring the food out. Even though the food is good, the service is very, meh. No one is very friendly, no one really smiles, and it's just not a very welcoming environment at least from my experiences in person. Also they are pretty stingy with the crackers for soup. If ever ordering to go or online, make sure they include your pickle spear, if you want one, because every time I have ordered online, I have been cheated out of my pickle and always forgot to look till I was home and it was too late. read more

When a restaurant is slow, you would think that would give them ample opportunity to clean up...for this location that is not the case. There were maybe 3 or 4 other parties and the place was filthy. Trash and puddles all over the floor. Most tables had the number holder down (which means it's a dirty table). Even the booths which were "clean" had dirty seats. We ordered a pick 2 (New Yorker and the new chicken cordon bleu). The New Yorker was super small even for being just a half sandwich. The chicken cordon bleu was served on cold bread when it should have been toasted. I brought it back and they made a new one which was actually really good in the end. Ordered online for a pickup @ 11:30. when I arrived I was told my order was "still in the kitchen" After waiting 10 mins I asked when was it going to be ready since I had to deliver the food to a customer lunch at noon. I was then told by someone else they "couldnt find the order at all". Finally a third person gets involved and figures out that it was a catering order, so after all of the back and forth, and giving my name multiple times and telling them what I had ordered, someone emerges from the back with my order!! spent over $160 on this lunch and there were no condiments, and their assortment of chips consisted of plain and jalapeno! Visited this business for the first time and was pleasantly surprised by what I found. This deli is part of the newly updated Liberty Commons shopping center, located in the southeast corner of the intersection of I-35 and Mo 152 Hwy. Making this stop in on a Friday night, in Liberty, when the nearby high school was hosting a football game, I was curious if this business would be slammed. To my delight, the space was about half full. Claiming an occupancy of 150, this deli has an ample number of tables to accommodate single and small parties, plus a few high-top tables for larger groups. Well lit and maintained, the deli has a walk up ordering process. The staff were genuinely friendly and polite. As we entered the building, there were a few patrons in line for ordering. We casually strolled by to get in line and they kindly offered us to move ahead if we were ready to order. As a first visit, the menu is a bit to take in. To break it down, they offer cold and hot sandwiches, salads, baked potatoes, a few appetizers, soups, kids meals, desserts and their famous sweet tea. Thankfully, the staff recognize the menu needs some time to process and they were patient and helpful with any questions. We ordered the New Yorker with a side of mac and cheese, and a California Turkey Ruben and cup of broccoli and cheddar soup as a Choose 2 meal. The orders were busily worked on by the kitchen. There must have been 6 or 8 team members floating about the stations in the back prepping orders. We took a numbered sign to the table and had a short wait of about 7 minutes. The food arrived fresh and hot. The portion size was ideal for the Choose 2 meal. The soup had good flavor and the sandwich was zingy. The New Yorker was hearty! Several layers of corned beef and pastrami nestled between buns. The mac and cheese was creamy. As we waited for our meal to be delivered, we observed this business does offer complimentary refills on soda and tea. Team members circulated to check on patrons and clear tables. There is good parking nearby and the business is easy to get to. They even offer a call ahead order for convenient to go orders. A great addition to the Liberty area. read more

McAlisters staff is usually pretty with it. My partner and I decided to eat there, I hadn't eaten at a McAlisters since they had a restaurant at ward parkway. The ice tea is always great. We had "stuffed" potatoes and shared a large salad. Barely any toppings on the "stuffed potatoes". That was pretty disappointing. Walked in on a Saturday after dinner rush, I was the only one in line. Young woman at the counter was gathering a to go order so I waited there. She looked at me and called out the order name. I hadn't ordered yet, not mine. After finding the owner of the food she looked at me again and started to put together another order behind the counter. After I left, I wished we hadn't gone at all. The girl behind the counter was slopping soapy water on the floor, mop nearby. I asked for extra pickles and a knife, so she dropped the mop and immediately grabbed a knife and plate of pickles with her unwashed hands. What do you even do with that? Couldn't wash your hands first, or ask someone else to get it for me? I placed both on my table unused, and cut my tiny misshapen sandwich with a fork. The theme tonight was: obliviousness. The New Yorker - if you can find it - is best prepared with a dipping cranberry sauce, sauerkraut, no cheese, and onions with pickle. Excellence! Well, tonight was the exception. The staff is on the younger side of history, and so apparently prepares things not from the vantage point of over 24 years of sandwich making. The sandwich was smaller, architecturally compromised, and had enough kraut to kill a small German child. You feed this to people? When done precisely with any regards for the way I can only assume old man McAlister intended, it's superb. A real bummer, this. I love McAlister's, but this location left me with an unwelcomed - near standoffish taste in the gullet; nothing akin to the warming, cared for sort of experience in Shawnee - and I believe I saw a Shawnee mover and shaker in there too in the kitchen, strange. He looked tired, so what are you going to do? The place was a mess, but what struck me mostly at fault was the the laissez faire approach from the almost entirely adolescent staff; I assume none of these people own this restaurant, nor have any stake in it's success. Aptly, they are making a buck, albeit poorly and with no consideration for brand consistency. More often recently it's curbside orders and they're always longer than stated time and half the time they've been messing up my order. I've gone here on several occasions pre-covid and during stay-at-home orders. The food is always ok. But most recently I ordered 2 gallons of sweet tea. One with black cheer and one just regular old sweet tea. I called to see if I could get a new gallon because the regular sweet tea had the consistency of snot. Sorry that the inky way to explain it. They said they can only guarantee the freshness for 4 hours. Wish I would've known that and I would've drank the whole gallon that day. But I have gotten gallons on previous occasions and not had a problem. Also, the black cherry tea that I got the same day was fine. I'll probably go back for food but I'll find someplace else to get my tea. *update - after seeing my review I was issued a $10 gift card to replace the gallon of tea I had to toss. If i could give this a zero star rating i would. My friend and i walked into around 8:15 last night. We were the only ones in line. Didn't get a hello or anything just kept talking to her co worker. Two people who were not in uniform or didn't even work there went around the counter and serve red their own drinks. We asked to order. Placed our order. Didn't receive our drinks. Had to ask for them. The lady rolled her eyes and made our drinks. Then one of the friends that was there proceeded to go into the kitchen. Did not put her hair up or anything. She started to cup mac and cheese. While her hair was still down. The other person that was there. That wasn't a worker decided to take customers orders. I asked for a refund because i was not going to pay for food or eat it that had been contaminated with hair. I will never be back here. They really need to work on their management. Went to Mc Alister's Deli today. The young man checking me out reached across the counter and clicked on the tip amount on the debit machine. I always tip and would have tipped more than he clicked. Then he asked if I wanted a receipt. I said yes. He folded over the receipt to hide what he did. I took the receipt to my table and saw that I had been charged for a tip. Talked to the manager about being charged for a tip I didn't click. She said she would talk to the cashier. I watched the cashier while I ate. He did the same thing to multiple customers. The manager never once talked to him while I was there. The Reuben Sandwich was delicious. The bread was toasted perfectly. The corn beef was tender and savory. The thousand island dressing and sour kraut had great flavor. Nothing in writing..just took my name and nothing else. Mistakes happen, that's fine but she gave me NO apology or even offered to fix the problem. Here's how she should have handled it: Bring me my correct food. I couldn't even eat the food I got because I'm vegetarian and it was all meat based. This Deli is definitely not a deli-ght. The menu is expansive, I will give it that. But the food is subpar at best. The husband and I have eaten here a couple times, and I must say both times were not great. We tried the big potatoes, and it was meh. I will say it's a very large potato but it'd largely lacking in flavor. Even with toppings. The soup is the best part. The sandwiches are extremely greasy, especially for a deli. I was not impressed with the club, or the turkey sandwich. The bread was soggy due to the amount if grease. Well, I've ate at McAlister's before and it still amazes me that they don't have the soda machine in the dining area so you can get your own refill. The deli counter is always busy and not convenient if you want a refill. I also had to stop the counter clerk from filling my entire drink with mostly ice. I'm not paying for ice. I ordered the French dip and it came out with cold au jus. The quality of the meat was good but it was Luke warm. The sandwich looked cut in two like I got a half of a sandwich or 3/4 so I asked if it was a half order. The server looked puzzled. When you get a full sandwich, you don't expect the bread cut at one end. Not sure I'll be back but they just opened. Overall, there are plenty of other places for the same Ok folks, I came back today after being contacted by McCalisters Management and asked to give them another try. I'm totally impressed. I ordered the roast beef and cheddar/with horse radish. I got a side of au jus to dip it in. Awesome, fresh, hot, and tasty. My father was with me and agreed. I usually sit down and eat when I go to McAllister's, but this time I ordered to go. The salad I got was a new one called the southwest chicken. It comes with cheese but they didn't put cheese on it. LOL that wouldn't bother me so much if I didn't have such a bad experience just picking up my to go order. They were pretty busy so I wasn't impatient that I had to wait a little bit to grab my drink, but the lady who Was working the to go register made eye contact with me multiple times and chose to ignore me.
