Happened to be in the area and had a free tea reward that I had in the McAlister's app so figured what better time to stop and get some good food and some delicious sweeeeeet tea. Luckily I got there a short time after they opened so it was super quiet and it didn't take long to place my order. The young lady who took was friendly and made sure to repeat my order back just to be sure everything eas correct. I waited maybe 5 minutes for my food and was so happy that it was fresh and warm. I ordered a ham and cheese toastie for my little one which is basically a grilled cheese with ham and I got the McAlister's club sandwich. He absolutely loved the toastie and it was oozing with gooey cheese. He also loved the fruit even though it looked a little less than fresh. I tasted it to make sure it was good though and it was still pretty fresh...just didn't look it. The club was absolutely delicious. Stacked with ham, turkey, lettuce, tomato, cheese, mayo, and honey mustard. The perfect indulgence for a Saturday afternoon. I ordered ahead and showed up because it said my order was ready, then stood at the counter for 25 minutes without a single staff member acknowledging me. Everyone in the store was frustrated and I could tell they'd all been waiting longer than me. If you can't manage to have employees that are efficient then you don't need to be doing to go orders much less serving at all. One of the few restaurants I have felt safe in during this last year. The menu is varied & great and service is excellent. The customers are very compliant with CDC Guidelines. I felt very bad for the staff when a large unmasked group walked in. They were seated in a fairly empty area. I did notice that the diners in that section left ASAP. Hopefully they were finished with their meals. I hope the Staff was able to be vaccinated as they appeared to be mostly college age. This location is in Kennesaw on George Busbee Pkwy. It might be a bit hard to miss, but it is right by the Brusters plaza. Today, I ordered the Reuben sandwich with a potato salad side. McAlister always plate their sandwich really nice and they give a nice portion. Along with that, I always get the peach sweet tea because it is pretty addicting. Horrible service. Has gone downhill fast. Ordered via online. Was given a time to pick up. When I checked in I was told it would be another 25-30 minutes because they got a big order. Not happy. Why was I not informed. I went in and requested a refund and was met with one of the rudest attitude wearing customer facing people I have ever met. She told me she wouldn't give me a receipt for my refund and I "needed to leave" because I "disrespected her". Got the manager but I don't think he was any better. Because locationally it's convenient for lunch during the work week, we have been frequent guests for a long time. But this location is definitely struggling. It's not uncommon to have difficulty finding a clean table to sit at. More than 50% of the tables can be vacant but not bussed. My second time in here since the opening. All of the staff have been super friendly so far and helping me make choices about what to eat. My husband and I have tried several of the turkey sandwiches and some soups, all super tasty! The seating area is pretty nice, right now full of folks. I see a couple of employees cleaning up after patrons leave which is always a super plus in my book. Even during our first visit one of the employees grabbed our emptied plates after we finished. Really sweet One detail I want to point and exceptional customer service is during our first visit. I didn't know how the tomato bisque tasted and they brought me a sample to try. We ate here and it was SO good then the next two times were awful! The food was old, orders were wrong and it just wasn't good. The last time the manager actually argued with me over the menu. He tried to say they only had one kind of chicken spicy. I had eaten the regular twice at that location. So I called two other McAlister's in the area and they said oh absolutely we have a regular grilled chicken and the spicy. Doesn't even deserve 1 Star!! A coworker and I went to this location today for lunch and ordered our meal for eat in. We sat down and the front counter person brought my salad to me a short time later and I noticed a fly crawling on it and so I took it back up to the counter and asked that they remake the salad. She asked if I wanted a refund or a new salad and I said a new salad would be fine. While I waited at the counter another customer was upset about the amount of time she had waited and the manager was trying to explain the reason why it was taking so long for her order to come which apparent was because of the "massive amount of online orders, a huge catering order, and a lack of staff". The manager (his name was McKenzie) was less than helpful or encouraging and was actually kind of rude with her. She stepped back and waited with me and I empathized with her and supported his explanation because a similar experience happened to me at another location two weeks ago and they gave me the same explanation. He turned around and immediately asked the two of us to leave the property. We stood there in shock because we did not do anything wrong, was not disrespectful or rude and was asked to leave for no reason. Several customers in line were shocked and appalled because they noticed that I was trying to help and empathize with the lady and was not being rude or disrespectful at all. At this point several people walked out and I decided not to wait for a salad and my coworker and I asked for the refund and proceeded to leave the premises. While we were waiting for the refund to be processed the manager yelled from the back and told us if we did not leave immediately he would call the police on us. This was completely shocking as he was the only one that was being rude and disrespectful or raising his voice and causing a scene. Fortunately many people walked out without even waiting for service. We also proceeded to call the corporate office and file an official complaint. When we asked, e would not give us his name nor the store number (1106) however the three staff members who were working were completely embarrassed and offered their apologies and provided us the information we had requested. I have never had such a bad experience at McAlisters and after having a similar experience at another location and by the way that manager refunded my money and gave me a coupon to return at a later date. I will never eat at this location and if I have a strike three at any McAllister's I will no longer eat at this restaurant. This is always been my favorite deli restaurant. I'm not sure what has happened in the past few years but it is unfortunate because the customer service is incredibly poor. And it is even more disconcerting that the managers have been the reason for this. read more
