Kitschy, yes, but despite that the food is genuinely spectacular…read more Bratwurst was super flavorful and cooked perfectly with a caramelized outside, a good snap, and a moist inside. The pretzel bun was heated appropriately and had the right amount of flavor. The optional spicy mustard is really powerful. My only possible complaint would be that the spatzle were a bit on the soggy side, perhaps overcooked. That said, the spatzle also come with an incredible sauerbraten gravy. My only regret, really, is not having had dessert.

Atmosphere is fun, it really embraces the German decor (saw a review or too calling it kitschy, in a good way, which I think is a fair description). Service is friendly and attentive (and in the costumed German garb to keep with the themes). Lots of classic German dishes (several schnitzel varieties, brats, spatzel, etc.). I won't say anything I've had over the years blows me away, but haven't had a bad choice either. The Wiener schnitzel I had most recently was tender and tasty, with a perfectly fried batter, and the German fries were nicely crisped on the exterior and beautifully seasoned. Good beer selection (including some brewed for the restaurant), reasonable wine list...love that you can go all out and have your beer in the classic giant boot! Small gift shop as well, some souvenir items as well as some candies and food options.

This is the best breakfast/brunch spot…read more Cafe Pina is definitely one of our favorite restaurants ever. The menu changes seasonally with new items, but still has classics you can expect all year round. They also have weekly specials that include non-menu items that are often themed for holidays/special occasions. This morning we got to enjoy some of this season's winter menu. I had the fuyu sando, my husband had the country cabin crunchwrap, and our son had the O-G pancakes with chocolate chips/strawberries/blueberries. I also had a cookie butter chai and my husband had coffee. Everything was phenomenal, like always. The staff is always pleasant and helpful. The restaurant itself is bright, open, and just cheerful. If you're in the area this is a must stop. If you are local, they do so much more than brunch. They have a bakery across the hall, they do catering, private dinners, special nights for dinner. Chef Claudia has brought an absolute gem to southern Indiana.

With tip, $57.75. The country fried steak was the thinnest I have ever gotten. The gravy that came with it to dip in was hyped up on the menu as being delicious. It tasted like the cheapest 50 cent store brand instant gravy packet. Almost zero flavor. I did appreciate the avocado and garlic aioli flavor in the wrap. The country fries ( cubes ) tasted stale , like they were fried, then kept warm. Neither of us ate but two bites each. Ketchup didn't help.

An example of a beefy meal would be the Fat Buffalo Wrap, and an example of a skinny meal would be the full rack of ribs. The service was great and they were even willing to split our table's check 6 ways but don't make them do that folks!!! Just get one check and Venmo each other like adults! Jimi was here with a group on a co-bachelor party for two good friends who selflessly kept trying to make the weekend about the other. It was a beautiful thing! There was no bickering at all! There's only 2 of us and it's NOT busy. I guess it's taken this long to forget that "we are never coming back." Food came really really fast and was better than okay but not great. Waitress only checked on us one time early in the experience and was never seen again until the end. Never came back to offer us a chance to order a second drink or dessert and it took forever to get the bill. Honestly, not an enjoyable experience. The only thing that keeps us coming back is our poor memory. So, I guess I'll post again in 2028.
